Friends + family + the weekend!

Yesterday I was reminded how lucky I am to have such amazing friends. I FINALLY got to get together with my friend Michelle. We have been friends for years, but have both been crazy busy this past year, so I don’t think we had seen each other since November or December? Not okay! She ALWAYS cracks me up. I got this text from her as I was on my way to meet her for breakfast. I also confused myself and drove to an old location of the restaurant we were going to…after driving to the new, current location. In my defense, I hadn’t had much coffee yet. I love that she  was reading my blog as she waited! True friend right there! ; )

Isn’t she the cutest?? She’s getting married this summer, too! I can’t wait to celebrate. <3

We had a blast catching up and chowing down (our two favorite things). We went to B2 and both got the breakfast wrap. It was SO good.

After breakfast, I had some errands to run, so I headed to the mall. I FINALLY used a gift card from Jake’s Nanny that I got at Christmas – thank you, Wynona!! <3 I also picked up some presents for Jake’s Dad and sister, since we had their birthday party last night.

Then it was home to get the presents wrapped! I couldn’t help but get those jelly beans…don’t they sound good?!

I had a tendon in my foot that was really bothering me, so I didn’t run yesterday. I was tempted to just skip a workout all together and watch Netflix because I was feeling sorry for myself, but I knew I’d feel better if I did something quick. I wrote this up and it only took 30 minutes! Try it out. I only used the bar for the weighted squats, then I used dumbbells for the calf raises and all the arm movements. I used anywhere from 8s to 15s. I really like this workout, so it’s going to be one I use more often…maybe once a week! I woke up a little sore, which I love!

Gotta love a sweaty gym workout!

By the time I was finished, it was almost 3 and I hadn’t had lunch yet – my breakfast really filled me up. We had dinner at 6, so I just made a small protein smoothie. It was DELICIOUS and just what I needed.

I failed to take a single picture last night at dinner. Ugh. I can’t believe it!! We had lasagna, salad, garlic bread, and some other goodies, all followed by cake and ice cream. It was super yummy and SO good to see everyone and celebrate Jeff and Chelsea! Also, Jake’s Mom, Penny, hasn’t been feeling all that great and his Aunt, Michelle, hurt her back yesterday. Send positive thoughts their way, please! Hoping you both heal quickly!

Then it was home to relax. I had a cup of dandelion tea with oregano oil and Jake had a small glass of whiskey (his beverage choice was better). He has been CRUSHING his training this week, I feel like I’ve hardly seen him he’s been working so hard, but we both know it’ll pay off. I just try to make sure everything is ready for him so he doesn’t have to worry about anything extra. I think we make a pretty dang good team!

We both spent some time icing and I read a little bit, then we talked for awhile. It was a nice relaxing evening!

Jake doesn’t run on Fridays because he does some injury prevention/lifting, so while he did that, I went out for a run. I saw this cute fox while I was out! The weather this morning was PERFECT.

I left about 10 minutes later than I was planning, so I pushed it to get back in time to have breakfast with Jake. I had to lay down on the driveway for a second after I finished…
Picture

My run felt really good and I had ZERO foot pain! I’m so glad I took yesterday off and iced a lot. It definitely helped!

I made it back in time to sit with Jake while he ate – I wasn’t hungry yet. I love our morning time together.

We are running trail this weekend, and we both love Altra, so I thought this image was perfect!

I found this picture on my phone…I think we need Qdoba this weekend! Mmm. Guac. Mmm. Chips. <3

I think we are going to Two Rivers tonight for an event and then again tomorrow. We will run there tomorrow, I think. This is our last big week before we start tapering for races in Colorado later this month –  a heavy half for me and a full for Jake. His race is the first in the race series he is running/riding in this summer. I can’t wait to watch him race! His mental toughness is crazy inspiring. We are planning on having a relaxing weekend, which I’m looking forward to!
I hope everyone has a great start to their weekend! Enjoy the sunshine while we have it!
