Leg day followed by hill repeats…OUCH + all the meal prepping!

I was starving yesterday, soooo I ate this at 10 am. It was amazing. A wrap with turkey, pepperoni, ranch, and Sriracha. Yes please! It hit the spot, then I was off to run errands.

I have started my training plan, so Mondays are now going to be leg days. My friend, Kayla, has been wanting to do a garage workout with me, and our schedules finally worked out yesterday! This is the workout I wrote up for us…it hurt.

It was sunny, so we decided we would workout outside so we could get a little sun, too. Two birds? We definitely got hot! Sorry about our give-away pile in the corner…

These knee-ups were KILLER. Here’s Kayla killing them! We started out the first round using weights, but by the third round, we had dropped the weights. Our legs were burning.

The entire workout took us about 50 minutes – we could’ve done it faster, but we stopped and chatted a few times. It really kicked our butts!

I think my creepy face is due to being worn out from our workout…but this smoothie was AWESOME. I chugged it because I was starving. It usually takes me awhile to drink a smoothie, but it didn’t take me any time at all yesterday. Smoothies are the perfect meal during the summer!

Then I spent the afternoon meal prepping. Here is our chicken for the week! It has cajun and cayenne pepper spice on it.

We love having a variety of potatoes. I topped these with black pepper, olive oil, and garlic powder.

Broccoli with onion, garlic, and balsamic. Mm.

Jake’s lunches for the week!

Steel-cut oats for our breakfasts. I LOVE having all of this done ahead of time. It saves a ton of time in the mornings.

Jake got home from work and mowed, then we ate. I made tuna patties, cauliflower fried rice, and a spinach salad. It was really tasty and light!

Jake and I met Vanessa, the owner of Ames Adventure Outfitters (the company Jake reps for), and the Altra sales manager, Melissa, for drinks at Sequiota Bike after dinner. We had a BLAST. They’re both so much fun and had us cracking up all night. Thank you, ladies, for the super fun evening! Can’t wait to get together again!

I was doing hill repeats this morning and Kayla mentioned wanting to join. We knew it would hurt after leg day, but she agreed to meet me after my warm-up!
Picture

It was up at 4 am to drink some coffee, my BCAAS, and hit the road!
Picture

This. Stinkin’. Hill. Ugh. It’s the living worst. It’s half a mile long and the top quarter kills. KILLS. I almost threw up. This picture doesn’t really show much, but just know that I hate this hill. I think Kayla does, too.
Picture

I think in this picture I was asking her if she would still be my friend…also, look how tan she is. So jealous.
Picture
She forgave me! Ha! We really did have a great run, it just hurt. We recovered from each hill repeat pretty quickly, so that was great. My times for the repeats were 4:02, 3:58, and 3:56. That last one was the one that almost did me in. I did a 3 mile warm-up, 3 miles of the hill repeats with Kayla, and then a mile cool-down back home. It was a REALLY good workout.
Picture

When I got home, Jake was in the garage stretching and doing core, so I joined him for a little core action. My legs were dripping sweat. I tried to get a picture…it didn’t turn out that great.
Picture

I was STARVING, so we chowed down on some eggs, avocado, and steel cut oats. It was SO good. I threw some blueberries on top of my peanut butter in the oats and it was the bomb.
Picture

I taught this morning/afternoon at MSU, then came home to eat. I have some work to do this afternoon, but I only got 5 and a half hours of sleep, so a short nap may happen before I get to work. We will see! Jake and I have ZERO plans tonight (it’s one of our only nights this week without plans) so we are going to relax!
I hope your Tuesday is fantastic!
