Papers & Pavement

Resting + pumpkin fun + take a guess + cancer sucks!

This is such a time saver. I like to chop up all the veggies we will use for breakfast ahead of time. That way, all I have to do is throw them into the pan for a little bit, then add the eggs. So simple!  Anyone else have meal prep tricks???

Breakfast! Egg and veggie scramble, a waffle with PB, and chicken sausage.
I cleaned yesterday morning – I needed a little brain break from computer work. My Momma stopped by around lunch time to drop this off. Jake and I love soup, especially when it’s cold out, so I’m excited to try this out.
Lunch was salad and a black bean veggie burger.
This cuddly girl stayed close to my side all day. I had a phone meeting in the afternoon, so I did a little work before and after that. We are ALMOST completely finished with the article we are presenting! Now to create the presentation slides…
Confession time: I bought this bag of Skinny Pop (a weakness) on Wednesday. I may or may not have FINISHED it yesterday. I have a problem. Send help.
This episode of Parks and Rec always makes me cry! Leslie’s team surprises her for Christmas. I won’t spoil it, just in case someone hasn’t seen it, but if you need a feel good show with all the best quotes, watch Parks! Stick with it through the first couple of episodes. I promise it’s worth it!
Sometimes you just need to sit on your kitchen counter in your compression socks and watch Netflix while drinking tea. Then I realized I needed to ice again.

I LOVE these compression socks by Compression Pro. Does anyone have any other compression socks they love? I’d like to get another pair.
I love this stuff on our brussels sprouts.
Dinner was chicken, brussles, and sweet potato zoodles! Mmm.
Zero personal space with this cuddler. She squeezed in-between me and the arm of the couch. There was MAYBE two feet of space there. Maybe.
Then this happened!!
Last year, we didn’t get a pumpkin carving kit and just used knives from our kitchen. It was SO difficult. So this year, we got a carving kit. What a difference that made! So much easier.
I LOVE pineapples, so I decided that’s what needed to go on my pumpkin. I drew this up thinking the Expo marker would come off easily – I was wrong.
This was SO much easier than using kitchen knives. I remember it took us FOREVER to carve our pumpkins last year.
Done!
Very hard at work…
Here’s my pineapple and Jake’s Altra logo.
Our failed attempt at a timed photo.
My picture is blurry, but Jake’s looks good! He’s always wearing something Altra, so this pumpkin worked out well! Also, he always wears real clothes. I never do. And my hair is always crazy. I’ve accepted it.
Here are our pumpkins last year! Mine was supposed to be an owl, but it looks more like a bat, and Jake’s was a bike! Again, he’s in real pants (jeans) and I’m in sweats.
Back to this year and our pumpkins!
Breakfast this morning was the same as yesterday! Yum. I couldn’t eat all of my eggs and veggies. I got full super fast.
Here’s a tiny clue to my Halloween costume! Plus a vest of some kind. We are dressing up as a couple from a movie…any guesses?
I’m hoping to finish up the article today, then do some more editing on my proposal. As soon as I hear back from IRB, I can start my study, so I want to be ready! We are going to listen to some live music with some friends later, so I’m excited about that! On Saturday, Jake and I have our last long run before our trail race, then we are dong dinner with my family to celebrate my Dad being 4 years post surgery for prostate cancer – he just had a check up last week and everything is perfect! <3 After dinner with them, we have a Halloween party! We are doing our engagement photos on Sunday with the talented Brandi! We can’t wait. It’s going to be chilly…
Any good compression socks I should look into?
What are you doing for Halloween??
Are you dressing up? What will you wear?
Any advice for engagement photos?
Happy Weekend, everyone!!
