Weekend Wrap-up!

This weekend went by in a flash. I subbed for a half day Friday morning, then met a girlfriend, Jyssica, for lunch at Mama Jean’s. It was so beautiful outside, so we ate on their roof. It was so wonderful to catch up with Jyss! We have both been so busy that we hadn’t seen each other in WAY too long. I had my favorite sandwich – the Firebird. So. Delicious.
The accidental selfie. I’m sure I was singing. Ha!
I spent Friday afternoon working on different things at home, then we had leftovers for dinner – Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash Casserole. I FINALLY finished up the article I had been working on. It ended up being 20 pages long. I was SO happy when I hit submit. I’m sure I’ll have revisions and things like that, but at least the bulk of the paper is finished.
We relaxed before bed and watched a little Netflix. Since we finished Vampire Diaries, we moved on to The Originals, which has some of the same characters. It’s pretty good so far! It’s our guilty pleasure. Jake has been sick for the past week, so we have been taking things easy. Praying I don’t get it! And yes, he relaxes in jeans. I don’t get it!
Saturday morning we had a Trail Sisters run! I wore my Wahoo Running shirt because a bunch of the Wahoo Runners were running the OKC Go Girl. I love this group of people – they’re so knowledgeable and uplifting. You can join the Wahoo Crew – just click that link above to learn more.
It was the perfect morning for some trail time.
We like big hats and we cannot lie…
Alex got some Altra trail shoes (she got the Lone Peak) and she loves them! I’m wearing the Olympus here (with teal).
We had a wonderful run! If you’re a lady and live locally, come join us! Search for Trail Sisters Springfield, MO on Facebook and trailsisters.spfld on Instagram!
I stopped by Mama Jean’s after the run to grab some more Cold and Flu shots, which we swear by whenever either of us is sick, and I grabbed a breakfast wrap while there, too.
It was amazing.
One of our favorite breweries, Great Escape Beer works, hosted a Tune & Brew with a local bike shop (Sunshine Bike Shop) Saturday afternoon. Jake helped out down there and took Rhea with him. How precious is this picture?Jenn, one of the brewery’s amazing owners took it. I love it!
Lunch was just a bunch a random things. I finished off that dairy-free cheese already…it was just SO good.
For dinner, we headed to Galloway. I was craving a burger, so I had the Trail Burger. After dinner, we went to our friend Coty’s birthday party.
I had a long run Sunday, so I set out all of my stuff Saturday night. I am loving those Spring Energy gels.
This picture was taken after I had tried to quit AND after I cried at an intersection after mile 7…sometimes we just have those runs. I pushed through when I wanted to stop, so I will remember that the next time I’m in a negative place. My whole run on Sunday I was in a negative place.
That run tested me. I stopped after mile 7, texted Jake that I wanted to quit, and then walked/cried for about a minute. I was just super negative about the run and it wasn’t feeling as good as I thought it should. Jake talked me down and convinced me to finish the run. The run was definitely a mental test as well as a physical test.

The run:
2 WU, 6 miles @ marathon pace, 1 mile recovery, 6 miles @ marathon pace, 1 CD. I ended with 16 for the day and I’ve never been so happy to push stop on my watch.

Post run cuddles.
This was my mantra after the run. I need to remember this.
Lunch was tuna and spinach tacos. I was pretty worn out the rest of the day and had a headache, so I took it easy.
Left my phone unattended while cooking dinner…
Dinner was Elk tacos. They were delicious. I topped them with dairy-free cheese, avocado, shredded lettuce and cabbage, salsa, and Sriracha.
I’m off to meet a friend for coffee, then it’s time to knock out some work!
Happy Monday, friends!
