Cleaning your plate + recovery runs!

Tuesday was a busy day! We had plans to meet my parents for dinner, but Jake needed to run some errands first. His bike needed a little work after his 100 mile ride a few weekends ago. While he did some of that, I got caught up on some reading in the car. I also worked on chugging some water – I try to drink 3 to 4 of these every day. I love this Nalgene because it’s sparkly! : )

When Jake was finished, we headed to Ocean Zen to meet my parents for dinner. My Dad had just finished up at the office and my Mom had been doing some yard work and then a little shopping at Target. Aren’t they cute??

We hadn’t been to Ocean Zen in quite awhile, so I was pumped. I usually get sushi, but I was starving last night, so I ordered a whole meal…which I inhaled. See below for evidence…

My Dad & Jake both got this incredible grilled chicken and shrimp dish. Underneath all of that goodness was some of the best risotto I’ve ever had. Obviously Jake loved it!!

I got bacon wrapped scallops. Holy cow. They were the bomb. I also had the same risotto. Wow wow wow. I obviously also loved my meal. My Mom got the Macadamia Nut Chicken meal, which also looked amazing. I was glad decided against sushi – I never thought I’d say that!

Then it was home to watch the storm roll in, cuddle with our girls, and watch a little New Girl before bed. Best. Show. Ever.

Up at 4 am to get a long recovery run in! I obviously couldn’t start running before coffee and some quality cuddles with my girls. I love how cuddly Lu is in the morning…I think she’s still half asleep in this picture. Aspen is always cuddly, so I can count on her to love me when Lu doesn’t!

Our legs were kinda dead this morning, so we had a good laugh at our running calendar for the day. How did it know?!

We got 8 miles in at a recovery pace. We both felt pretty sluggish until about mile 5. Sometimes I feel like the slower the pace is, the more I struggle to get going. Does anyone else feel this way? It was nice to run together and talk this morning. Jake was much faster than me during our tempos Tuesday morning, so we only ran together for the warm-up and cool-down. It was nice to have over an hour just to run slow and chat.

We had been using a Paleo protein powder for a few months and we both really liked it! We just switched to this one and so far, we like it. I don’t know yet if I like one powder over the other. If it’s chocolate flavored, it’s almost a guarantee that I’ll love it!

Last week FLEW by…this week, not so much. I definitely keep thinking we are a day or two ahead. I’m ready for Friday!!!

Does it take you longer to get going when you run slow?
Do you have a favorite protein powder?

I have class tonight…only FOUR more class meetings until I am finished taking classes FOREVER. I can’t believe it…I counted that up just now for this post, so I’m pretty happy about that news!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
