I wish weekends didn’t go by so quickly! But, we had a blast and enjoyed the AMAZING weather. We don’t run on Fridays, but we both LOVED our Friday running calendar…it just makes sense!

Lu got in trouble for bothering Aspen during their dinner Friday night – Lu chows down IMMEDIATELY & it takes Aspen a little longer to eat. This is Lu pouting & staring at her sister while she eats. Pitiful.

We headed out Friday evening for our anniversary dinner! We went to Metropolitan Farmer, which is one of our favorite restaurants. We went earlier than usual because Jake had a long trail run at 5 am Saturday morning. I mentioned this last week, but I LOVE eating dinner early. I can’t sleep if I eat too late, which is a big reason why I started Intermittent Fasting. I try to eat before 7, which seems to help me sleep better!

The weather was so beautiful!

We sat at the bar so we could hang out with our favorite bartender, Amber. She makes the BEST drinks. We shared the special, which was zoodles, chicken, shrimp, sausage, & asparagus, all in an amazing creamy sauce. We also got our staples – the beet salad & the wings. If you haven’t had their wings, GO NOW. They’re seriously amazing. Get them in the Frank’s powder, but get pickle powder on the side. You can thank me later.

Ready to chow down and enjoy dinner with my handsome man! <3

We got up about 4 am Saturday to get Jake ready for his trail run. I was SUPER sore from lifting Thursday, so I decided to do my long run Sunday & just stretch and do some foam rolling. Those two things definitely helped! Then I relaxed & had some Bulletproof coffee while I waited for Jake to get home. We went to the farmer’s market for a little bit, then grabbed some grub.

I had been craving St. Michael’s, which is a phenomenal restaurant downtown that is owned by my high school cross country coach & his wife, Jenny. Jake had never been!! We shared a wrap & a salad, then Jenny brought us a piece of their DELICIOUS banana cake. Holy yum. We ate the whole thing…I made Jake wait to take his first bite so I could get a picture…he was obviously thrilled!! After we ate, we drove around a little, went home & took a nap (YAY!), then Jake did some work around the house before we met his parents to go to the Cajun Cook-off.

We both love food, so we were excited for the Cajun Cook-off. Plus, the weather was incredible & the Mixtapes were playing at the event – they’re my FAVORITE, so we were pumped.

We ate all the cajun food & danced/sang like crazy! Val helped put this event on & she did the BEST job. You go, sister <3
Jake & I had a dance off…I definitely won, but he gave it his best shot. ; )

Jake’s Mom was given/found (ha!) this box of ice cream sandwiches as we were leaving. They were DELICIOUS. I hadn’t had an icre cream sandwich in years. So. Good. I may have eaten more than one…whoops!

We woke up pretty early Sunday morning. I spent some time outside sipping on my Bulletproof coffee & enjoying our freshly mowed yard. We went to breakfast at Scrambler’s, then came back home. I needed to get a 10-mile run in, but I was dragging a little from being out so late Saturday night.

Once we got home, we played with the girls a little outside. You can’t see their toy, but they were dragging each other around the yard while playing tug-a-war with a rubber bone. It was hysterical.

We laid out on the couch in the shop for a little bit, enjoying the breeze. I did some work on an article I’m co-authoring, then accidentally took a short nap. It was the weekend of naps! It just felt so nice to relax outside. We finally got around to doing our run around 2 pm. It was not my best. At 2.5 miles, I thought I was going to have to just walk back to the house. We haven’t gone for a run in the heat for awhile, so I think that added to the fact that I was on the struggle bus. I get pretty down on myself when that happens. Jake helped me get through the run, which I only kind of hated him for for a little bit. ; ) We had to walk a little bit during the run, which I absolutely hate. It’s a mental thing for me, I know, but I still hate walking. The walking helped me get through the run, so I guess it was okay. We still managed to keep the pace under 10s, so that was good. Around mile 7, I started to feel a little better.

While we were sitting out on the driveway after our run, our neighbors came over with their furbaby, Gwen, who is ADORABLE. So, we got to play with her and chat with them for a little bit! Nick said he was getting rid of this hot sauce collection he had been given & asked if we wanted it. Um, heck yeah!!! We can’t wait to try all of the different kinds. <3 Thanks, guys!!!

After our run we went to The Pitch, which is a new restaurant that just opened. It’s pretty cool! After we ate, we ran through the grocery store real quick – we were both pretty exhausted, so we decided to do our serious meal prep Monday night. We just snagged some stuff to get us through Monday lunches. When we got home, the girls were pretty worn out, probably from their SUPER busy days. We don’t let them sleep on the bed at night, so they take full advantage of sprawling out before we put them in their beds. I don’t know how Lu is comfortable with her head hanging off the side of the bed…

I woke up & did a little run/weighted circuit this morning. The running portion took place on some hills by the house & my legs are definitely feeling it! I have a half this weekend, so I will kind of taper my runs throughout the week. My run on Sunday did not make me feel good about my half, so fingers crossed the rest of my runs this week feel better!

Since we were slacking a little on lunches today, we are having wraps with almond butter, honey, & a banana. They’re going to be yummy! These are the Stacey’s tortillas I was talking about last week – so good! I think I spelled Stacey’s wrong (maybe Stacy’s?), but now you can see the label! Mama Jean’s sells them.

I don’t usually buy granola, but I couldn’t pass this up. It looks super yummy! It’ll be our treat this week. I also wanted to try this yogurt – I haven’t had mine yet, but Jake said it’s different. I used to drink Kefir yogurt all the time, so I think I’ll like this stuff.

I am on an Ed Sheeran kick lately. These are two of my favorites! I just love his voice.

I’m also obsessed with this Bruno Mars song right now!

Drinking my Bulletproof on the way to school on this Monday morning. 6 more Mondays in the school year…SO CLOSE! I defend my comps Friday, so I’m nervous about that. Once that is over, I think I’ll feel LOTS better.

Got this box of goodies on Saturday! Yum yum yum. I love the Salt & Vinegar flavor, but they didn’t have an assortment order that came with them. I haven’t had the BBQ, so I’m excited to try those.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday! Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
