We had such a fun weekend! On Friday, we had a potluck at school…I was just going to grab a couple of things & still eat my lunch…this is what ended up happening. WHOOPS. Everything was delicious! There was also BBQ, but I had brought my lunch, so I skipped out on that. Only the healthy stuff! ; )

We hosted Mother’s Day at our house & we wanted to give all the Moms & Grandmas succulents. I made these little signs to go in them – who doesn’t love a good plant pun??? So corny. ; )

After school I got my car, which was still FULL of classroom stuff unpacked & made it to hot yoga. My back has been peeling pretty bad from my burn last weekend, but I think it’s finally starting to heal. We have used ALL the lotion on it. ALL OF IT.

After yoga, I met Jake at home & we rode our bikes to The Pitch. It was gorgeous outside, so we wanted to get in as much outdoor time as possible. Neither of us had had this Tropical IPA before – it was super good!

We shared the wings as an appetizer…they’re seriously incredible. We got the Jerk seasoning & Raspberry Chipotle, I think. So. Good.

Then we shared the Reuben and a side of Mac & Cheese. Both were incredible. It was the perfect amount for both of us. After dinner, we rode our bikes to Sequiota Bike Shop for a drink then raced home. Scroll down a few pictures to see what happens when you race in flip flops…

It was up EARLY to get a 10-mile run in, so Jake could get 50 miles in on his bike late morning. We figured we would encounter some water, so I broke out the wool socks that Jake got me for Christmas. They were SO comfy.

After our run, I made us some egg & veggie burritos while Jake got his stuff ready for his ride. They were delicious.

We both felt pretty flat for the first half of our run, but loosened up a little toward the end. The weather was PERFECT.

So, the picture doesn’t really do this injury justice, but Jake ripped a HUGE chunk of skin off his big toe racing me home Friday night. I won, by the way. BUT, I wouldn’t recommend riding bikes in flip flops…the chain fell off his bike & his foot slammed into the pavement. We were racing, so he was going pretty fast (obviously not as fast as me, since I won, but whatever). I was worried he had broken his toe, but he ran 10 & rode 50 like a champ. He’s nuts. Did I mention that I won our bike race? Because I did. ; )

While Jake was on his training ride, I worked around the house & ran some errands. We decided to get the AMAZING banana cake from St. Michael’s for Mother’s Day. If you haven’t had it, get it. I’m not kidding. It’ll change your life. It’s incredible. It took ALL my willpower to not pull over & eat this entire thing…

I also had a few impulse buys. Eye-roll. Jelly Beans sounded SO good & I love plantain chips – this brand is my favorite. I’m not even mad about it!

I also got my car washed…turns out that’s hard for me. Left the dang passenger window open a TINY bit. Eye-roll. Double whoops.

Jake got home from his ride & was starving, so we went to Galloway for a late lunch. We shared the BLT, which is one of our favorites. Then we went back home to finish up some cleaning before going to a surprise party for Katie. I have been keeping my shoes in some tubs under our bed & totally forgot about one of the tubs. I found these sandals in there & they matched my shirt perfectly. Nothing like going shopping in your own home…that doesn’t mean I have too many shoes, Jake! It just means that I’m forgetful. ; )

The birthday girl!!!! She had NO idea. Her family did an awesome job pulling off the surprise.

Jake rode Sunday morning while I went to hot yoga. Then we finally got to try Vespa Kitchen! It’s a new breakfast place next to Metro. Oh gosh, it was amazing!

I got the Eggs Benedict…I ate that whole thing. No joke.

Jake got this, but I can’t remember what it was. It was super tasty, too, though!

Also, Vespa Kitchen has these!!!!!!! Best day of my life.

After brunch, we got groceries for Mother’s Day, then went home to get ready! Here are the succulents we got everyone.

I made a grapefruit sangria, which was so yummy. I was craving Poppyseed dressing, so I made a little. It turned out pretty good!

We got everything ready to go & then had some time to relax & hang out before everyone came over.

Here’s the spread, minus the BBQ chicken & the banana cake. We had about 17 people over total. I’m SO bummed I didn’t get a picture of everyone. I was too busy chatting!

Jake’s sister’s name is Chelsea, too. We love being name twins! <3 She’s the cutest.

This is Jake’s Momma, Penny. She’s the best & always has me laughing!

What do you do when everyone leaves & you forget to take a picture?? SELFIE STICK.

Aaaaand a goofy picture. Love my family! My baby sister (she’s 24, but she will always be my baby sister!) wasn’t feeling well, so she went home early. Hope you’re feeling better, Pipes! We missed you.

After everyone left, we sat out in the shop relaxing, sharing this cute little bottle of tequila that Jake’s parents brought for us. We had an absolute blast having everyone over. It was such a fun evening! We have the BEST families.

Aspen wasn’t feeling the tequila…probably because she had a belly full of BBQ chicken. Eye-roll. She REALLY loves me after her Dad gets onto her. I’ll take the cuddles!

Jake got me some succulents, too! Yay for being a dog mom! <3

Smoothies for breakfast this morning!

I slept in this morning, but am planning to run & go to yoga after school. This is my last full Monday of the school year! Eek!!! Cheers to our last full week, teacher friends!
Happy Monday!
