As I was getting ready to go to the Y to do some running on a treadmill, I couldn’t find Lu to put her in her cage. Aspen of course ran right to hers. I found Lu curled up in this tiny ball on our bed. I think she was hoping I wouldn’t notice her.

Here’s the speed workout I did. It felt pretty good! I wish I would have pushed it a little more on a couple of segments, but oh well I’ll remember that for next time. I ended up with 8 miles at about a 7:56 average. The Y treadmills kick you off at 60 minutes, so I stopped my workout at 58 and just restarted for the last 5 minutes. I should’ve added a cool-down, but I was tired of being on the treadmill…

I chugged ALL the water when I got home. Sometimes after I run I almost make myself sick because I drink too much water. I have zero chill when it comes to drinking water after a hard workout!

I was STARVING after my run, so I heated up some leftovers and chowed down. BBQ sauce on a sweet potato is my favorite. Mix it with Sriracha and you’ve created the best sauce ever!

After I ate, I did some work on my dissertation proposal. Lu needed to sit in her regular spot and beg for me to hold her. How can you say no to this face?!

Jake is currently obsessed with cold brew coffee and it’s starting to rub off on me. I love drinking hot coffee in the morning, but cold brew is becoming my go-to for an afternoon pick me up.

I mentioned these the other day and totally forgot to post a picture. These crackers are awesome! I got them from Mama Jean’s.

Jake got home from work and we headed over to his Dad’s house to meet the other guys and hit the road! It’s me (not racing) and 4 guys – Don, Jake, Dathan, and John, and they’re all racing in a 50 mile mountain bike race tomorrow morning. I’m excited to cheer them all on and maybe get to run a little in the mountains.

I sleep a lot on car trips. I get really car sick, so I take Dramamine, which knocks me OUT.

Chipotle kids meal for the win! Like I said, I get car sick, so sometimes food doesn’t sound good or I want to eat EVERYTHING when I travel. Luckily, this hit the spot and was the perfect thing to eat.

We got to our hotel about 12:30, we drove about 7 hours yesterday. I passed out as soon as we got into the room. Then it was up at 5:30 to shower, drink ALL the coffee, and eat breakfast. The continental breakfast at our hotel was pretty awesome! I had a veggie omelet, turkey sausage, and a banana with peanut butter.

Then we hit the road again!

We stopped at Blue Moon for lunch – I got this amazing turkey avocado sandwich. Aaaand they had Sriracha. <3

I also got this yummy treat to last me the whole weekend. I am sad to report that it is now gone. I had good intentions, I guess…
First mountain spotting!

Just some cold brew to wash down the brownie I devoured. Eye-roll. Zero self-control on rest days!

It’s so beautiful here. It’s been raining off and on, but hopefully that passes.

The guys checked in at registration, we all checked into the hostel, and then these handsome dudes went out for a little ride.

I think someone is pumped! ; )

Here’s a picture of our room! This is the same one we stayed in three weeks ago. Everything is SO nice here. Clean, quiet, safe, and everyone is SO friendly.

I’m going to do some work on my dissertation, then I think we are swinging by a brewery later (Yesssss!). I feel pretty sick from eating that whole delicious brownie, so I’m going to wallow in self-pity for a little bit. I’m excited to run tomorrow and cheer the guys on! I’ll post a race update on Monday, but follow along on Instagram (chelseakdorman) for daily updates until then!
Happy Friday, y’all!
Just started reading your awesome blog! I love, love your tattoo! I can’t figure out Jake’s completely: Be a ___; Not a Spectator? Hope you are having fun in CO!! Yall are so inspiring!!
Hi, Alisha! Thank you for your kind words – you’re so sweet! Jake’s tattoos say, “Be a racer for a day, not a spectator for life.”
I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog – that makes me so happy! I hope you have a great weekend!
Very cool! Yall are so awesome and such a good team. Just read about you going with the guys to crew for them – TEAM! Love it. You have totally inspired me to start back running tomorrow – and fueling properly! I really like your balanced/intuitive eating/exercise lifestyle. Disciplined but not militant. You have so much running experience! Have you always been paleo, and/or how has that helped with your training/races? Oh and I have a Vizsla! 3 years old, named Redding – loves running, blankets, and 24/7 mommy contact. Your fur babies are adorable.
Alisha,
Thank you! I do think we make a pretty good team. : )
We aren’t strict Paleo, just try to eat pretty clean. We went strict Paleo for for about 2 or 3 months and loved it, it was just hard to sustain that with our endurance running. I do think I feel a lot better when I follow a more Paleo-ish diet, though. I get bad acid reflux and heart burn, so the cleaner I eat seems to really help with that! Aw, I love the name Redding – how sweet!
