Monday matters + more birthday fun + missing my routine…

Jake’s sweet Grandma dropped off some birthday treats for me yesterday, how sweet is she? Also, I had been CRAVING dark chocolate covered espresso beans, but I couldn’t find them. I immediately chowed down on these. Thank you, Rosa Lee!!!!

Then it was computer work for most of the day!

I heated up one of those fig bars that we love for a snack – they’re SUPER good heated up! YUM.

Check out this bed head! She was sleeping so hard, she was pretty out of it when she woke up. I couldn’t stop laughing.

I love Oreos and I insisted on brining dessert to the BBQ last night, so I decided to make a dirt cake, which I hadn’t had in FOREVER. I saw these peanut butter Oreos at the store and couldn’t’ pass them up. I was hoping they’d taste good on the cake!

The finished product! I highly recommend the PB Oreos! So good.

Do you ever forget about certain foods and then get really excited when you remember them? Well, it happens to me ALL the time. I had forgotten how much I love hummus! I made these little veggie and hummus containers for Jake this week for lunch – hopefully he’s been craving hummus like I have…

I took a break from food prep/computer work and did a little ab circuit while watching Scandal.

Then I was hungry again, so I had this after a smoothie.

Then it was off to Katie’s to see all my friends! We are both fully recovered from our race last Saturday. : )

Thank you, Katie, for hosting such a fun party! <3

We snacked on all these delicious appetizers while, Layne, Katie’s boyfriend, grilled up all kinds of goodies for us. THANK YOU, EVERYONE! He grilled brats, BBQ chicken, chicken tenders…all kinds of awesome things.

We played corn hole until it got too dark to see.

Then it was inside to have cake and listen to some throwback jams…Jake and Dan rapped for us. It was hilarious!

This memory popped up on Facebook today – I broke my watch during this fall! Now I’ve fallen 3 more times since then…during the same race. EYE ROLL.

I am having such a hard time getting out of bed lately, it’s so frustrating! I really miss the routine I was in earlier this summer. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to get up at 5 AM, when we were getting up at 4:15 AM with no problem. Ugh. I like being done with my runs by 6/6:30 so I can start on computer stuff and have most of the day to be produc
tive. This was the LAST morning I’m not getting up to my first alarm. I’m over it! Okay, venting over! ; ) I headed out for a 6 mile run with my new arm band. I got this from Academy for my race last Saturday and so far, I’m really liking it! I have the 6 Plus iPhone, so it gets annoying to hold in my hand during runs when I don’t use my pack. Still LOVING my goodr sunnies. SO much!

It was hot (another reason I like to run EARLY). Get it together, Chelsea! I sat on the driveway for awhile after my run, just to cool down a little. I listened to part of a podcast today during my run – I usually listen to music, but I was just wanted something different. My pace was definitely a lot slower, but I think I will like listening to podcasts when I started getting into longer, slower distances. It’s nice to have a variety!

Do you have any podcasts you love?? I listened to one today by Lindsey Hein from her “I’ll Have Another” series.

I was STARVING after my run, so I threw together an egg and veggie scramble and then chowed down.

I also put some cajun chicken breasts in the oven for my lunches. They smell really good!

I have a phone meeting later this afternoon, so I’m going to spend the day working on my dissertation, an article I’m co-authoring, the two online courses I’m teaching, laundry, and maybe mowing (if I get to it). So, it’s going to be a busy day!

Do you have any podcasts you recommend?
Any tips on forcing me out of bed?!

Happy Tuesday!
