So, my track workout yesterday really hurt. I was pretty miserable most of the workout, my warm-up and cool-down didn’t feel all that great either, and I felt like I had really fallen apart during my last two 800s. I had forgotten that I did this workout in July, and Strava, being the amazing app that it is, showed me my matched run. The run from July is on top and my run from yesterday is on bottom. I improved! It wasn’t a huge improvement, and I sure didn’t feel like I improved yesterday, but it’s there. And it’s just what I needed to see. I’ve been down on myself for sleeping in late, not eating as clean as I like, feeling fluffier, and being frustrated with sitting in front of a computer all day. Quite the pity party, huh? So, I decided I could keep being grumpy about it all or just freaking change my dang attitude. I decided to change my attitude. I have a long year ahead of me, dissertation-wise, and it’s not going to do me any good to let myself be negative about all the work I WILLINGLY SIGNED UP FOR (duh) because it was starting to affect other areas of my life. So, here we are – I’m sucking it up and focusing on the positives. And when I feel like throwing my computer at the wall, I’ll refrain. For the most part. ; )

I ate a fairly big breakfast right after my run, but I was STARVING two hours later, so I 100% ate lunch. At 9:30AM. Chicken and veggies for the win.

I took another little break from working to cuddle with my big baby. Her face in that first picture cracks me up. She was sneaking a kiss and knew it. She’s such a sweet baby.

I saw this on Instagram yesterday and was dying laughing – I totally do this!!! Does anyone else? Or sometimes I’ll see a sign that says a town is 100+ miles away and I think about how thankful I am that I’m driving that distance and not running. I guess my Leadman fiancè could run that and be just fine…

I worked for another hour or so, did my leg workout and mowed the yard, then needed another lunch. Half a sweet potato and half an avocado. So good. If you haven’t had BBQ sauce on a sweet potato, do it and thank me later. It’s the best.

She always steals my spot. ALWAYS.

My sweet tooth has been crazy lately. I made these cookies for Jake, but I’ve been SO good. I’ve only had a bite of the dough (my weakness) and one bite of one…I think that’s my bite taken out of that one on top. HA! But, I didn’t really want a cookie, I just wanted something, so I had carrots, celery, and PB instead. And yes, it was a little hard to put the lid back on the cookies, but I did it!

After some more work, I had some chocolate almond milk and dark chocolate covered espresso beans. I was really hungry all day yesterday!

I took a break to do an ab circuit and when I came back into the living room from getting water, this is what I found. She is the ultimate spot thief. She had just been up on the couch (which she isn’t supposed to do) on my blanket. Eye-roll.

Here are my cutie parents getting ready to go to the grand opening of the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium last night. Don’t they look snazzy?! They had a blast.

I started on dinner while Jake weed-eated (ate? I don’t know…) and did some stuff in the yard. We had cajun chicken with quinoa and brussels. Mmmm! I told Jake it was lazy chicken, just meaning I hadn’t done anything special to it and his response was, “How do you know what this chicken was like? It could’ve been very active!” All the eye-rolls! He always keeps me laughing. Aaaand rolling my eyes.

Now it’s ready to eat…it was missing Sriracha! And a little mustard.

5 minutes later…

Then we relaxed and watched some New Girl before I went to bed at 8:30….

This is how Lulu was sleeping when I went into our room. Not sure how that’s comfortable…

Then it was up to get 8 miles in! This run was hard. My legs were dead from my track workout and lifting yesterday. I think I laid in the driveway for a good 10 minutes. Jake was in the garage working out when I finished my run.

Every time he does this, I threaten to post the pictures. Gotcha! <3

I was so sweaty. I could’ve wrung my shirt out…I know I’ll regret saying this once it’s here, but I’m ready for some cold morning runs!

My sweat angel. ; )

I LOVE having leftovers to throw in with our eggs in the morning. We had leftover veggies and chicken with eggs for breakfast. I’m looking forward to devouring the rest of our brussel sprouts for lunch. Like, really looking forward to it…I was already thinking about it last night before bed.

One of my besties, Katie, got me this pillow for my birthday. Isn’t it awesome? I love The Office!

These two have a pretty rough life.

I made serious progress on some stuff for my dissertation yesterday, so fingers crossed I can start the IRB process this weekend/next week. IRB is the panel you have to go through to get permission from the university to conduct your study. I’m hoping I start that process ASAP so I can get started. I ended up changing a big portion of the plan for my study, so I’ve been trying to get all of that new information together. I should have it finished TODAY! Eek!
Happy Friday Eve, everyone!
That’s a great reminder about progress! I have been doing Crossfit for about two years now, and some of the workouts are starting to come back around with a note such as “compare your score to December 3rd 2016” or whatever. Yes these workouts still SUCK. You finish and are like wtf, that was so hard… but then when you compare your score to a year ago and notice big gains, it’s all worth it! I have had a few lately where I’ve crushed my old score, which means I’ve gotten a lot fitter even though I don’t notice day by day. You’re killin’ it!
Secondly, I love having veggies and chicken with eggs! I haven’t tried your veggie casserole yet but what I do is food processor broccoli peppers and onion into a rice-like size and then I toss a bunch of that in a pan with a bit of avocado oil to sautee before adding egg whites and one whole egg. That is my go-to breakfast. I then top if with a bit of cheese and hot sauce! I have no problem eating leftovers or “dinner meals” as breakfast. I am following a flexible dieting lifestyle/plan so based on how my day looks, I do what I can to meet my numbers and sometimes that means dinner leftovers for breakfast, or eating PB out of the jar! haha
Dayle,
Dang, girl!!! That’s awesome!! And you’re so right, it’s difficult to see our improvements day to day, but looking at the big picture, we can really tell!! CrossFit is SO hard, but SO awesome. I would love to get back into it. I’m so impressed you’ve been doing it for so long. That’s amazing.
Oh my gosh, that breakfast sounds amazing!! I’m going to have to try that. I love having dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner – I think we should at whatever we want whenever we want! Also, PB out of the jar is always a good thing! I have to make myself use a small spoon when I do that. I think I could eat the entire jar in one sitting…
Have a great day!!
