Weekend Wrap-Up!

My heart and prayers go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.  Such an awful act of violence.

I had the last of my chocolate covered espresso beans on Friday…good thing my Mom brought over some more for me! Do I have a problem? Maybe…

Lu loves to knock this pillow over and use it as a bed on her Dad’s recliner.

On Friday, my Mom picked me up for lunch and we went downtown to St. Michael’s. St. Michael’s is an AMAZING restaurant owned by my high school cross country coach and his wife, Jenny, who is in this picture. They’re two of the best people and they both are incredible athletes.

Coach Russo decorates the restaurant with pictures of all the teams he has coached. Here’s one from my junior year of high school – I’m right above Coach’s head! Coach Russo made cross country so much fun.

We found out we missed National Drink a Beer Day on Thursday, so we made up for it with a beer at lunch on Friday.

We shared wings and then I had this yummy salad – it’s one of my favorite salads in town! I aded jalapeños to it for the first time and I’m glad I did!

My Mom had an event at her house later this weekend, so she wanted to get some flowers from my friend, Cassie, who owns Ozark Mtn Flower Shop. Isn’t that the cutest truck?? And the flowers are always beautiful. Check her out on Instagram or Facebook!

I failed to get pictures Friday night, but we went to the rehearsal dinner for the wedding that Jake was in on Saturday. It was a blast! It was so fun to see everyone. I came home early to get to bed so I could get up to run trail Saturday morning. Well, I did not sleep well at all Friday – I think I finally fell asleep about 2 or 3. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get up in time to run trail and get my work done before the wedding, so I was pretty bummed. I HATE not being able to sleep. I got up about 8, contemplated moving my long run to Sunday, then decided I needed to just stick with the distance I had planned and run trail next weekend. I made some Ezekiel bread with PB and honey and hit the pavement.

I just ran slow and listened to a podcast. I’ve never been really into podcasts, but I loved having one to listen to during a long run. I don’t think I could listen to anything other than music when I’m wanting to run faster, though. I listened to “I’ll Have Another” by Lindsey Hein. She is an amazing runner and she interviews athletes about their accomplishments, lives, and other random stuff. I love it! I also obviously couldn’t get a cute jumping picture…I think my legs were dead after my run!

After my run, I inhaled this huge sandwich. It tasted amazing. I was starving.
Picture

Aspen wanted to lay outside and Lu wanted to be inside, but they still wanted to be near each other. Look at their “artwork” on the glass…they rub their noses all over that glass. It drives me crazy!

Wedding time with these pretty girls! All three of our men were in the wedding party, so we got to spend some quality girl time together. Plus, it was Keasha’s birthday!
Picture

I thought Jake looked so handsome in his suit. Going to weddings makes me even more excited for ours!

Jake’s parents and Chelsea had rushed to the wedding from one of Chelsea’s college softball games. Poor Penny got a little bit of sun!

I didn’t want to be that person taking pictures of my food with a flash on (I usually am) so I apologize for the blurry picture. The food at the wedding was yummy! So was the cake!
Picture

The bride and groom – Mr. and Mrs. Plank! Isn’t Kindal GORGEOUS?
Picture

We loved the selfie station and all the props! Sorry, Ryan, for taking this picture right as you were blinking! Also, make note of Jake’s purple hat. You will see it again later…
Picture

There’s the man I’m going to marry, far left, with his purple cowboy hat on. And yes, that’s the whole wedding party sitting up front…during speeches. There’s NEVER a dull moment with Jake.
Picture

Jake and I got up Sunday and ran 6 together. The girls were pretty excited when we got back…
Picture

We went to Vespa Kitchen with Jake’s family after our run. I was craving their Eggs Benedict, which is amazing. I also wanted some of their sausage patties. This breakfast was incredible. I kind of want it again right now…
Picture
My first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season! I get them with soy milk – it makes them even creamier! I usually drink my coffee black or with a little milk, so I couldn’t drink a ton of these, but it’s a yummy treat every once and awhile.
Picture

We had to stop by the mall to get something, and Jake found this velvet blazer that one of his friends was wearing at the wedding the night before. I made him model it. It’s SO soft!
Picture

Then it was back home so I could do some computer work. Aspen was pretty excited to stay home with me and cuddle. Jake rode his bike to a little fishing spot and fished for awhile. ONE day soon, I’ll get to go with him!
Picture

Jake’s Nanny came over last night and we all walked to Sequiota Bike Shop for dinner. We had a BLAST. Wynona always has us cracking up. We hadn’t seen her in about 5 months or so, so it was definitely time! We loved our night with her, and we got to enjoy some delicious food!
Picture

After dinner, the girls entertained us with their new toys for a little bit, then Jake and I sat on our patio and had a glass of wine. This is my favorite time of the year, so I want to be outside as much as possible! We started doing some more wedding stuff, so we were up later than we had planned! It’s just so much fun!
Picture

Jake’s parents brought these olives over to us last week – they’re SO good. We are obsessed with them!

How was your weekend?
Did you do anything fun?
Does anyone have any wedding planning advice for a destination wedding?!
What are your plans for your Monday?

Mondays are my catch up day, so I have lots to get accomplished this morning! I’m waiting to hear back about my latest round of edits, so I don’t have to do much on the computer today, which I’m excited about. : )

I hope your Monday is wonderful!

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I was actually in Missouri this weekend running the Mo’Cowbell half marathon. I don’t think I could have asked for better weather or a better course. I had gone into this race unsure of if I would be able to meet my goal of 1:35 BUT I ended up crushing that goal and finishing in 1:33.42. I am still on cloud 9. BUT I honestly wish I could run the distances you do. I feel like currently much beyond 13.2 miles is a bit too tough for me. How have you built up the distance? Do you tend to just attend local races or have you been racing in STL too?

      Lindsay,
HOLY COW, GIRL! That pace is crazy impressive!!!! Wow. I’m in awe. You’re so impressive! I haven’t ever ran that race, but maybe I should check it out!
Oh, you could definitely run further. I think a lot of it is mental! For real. 13.1 used to scare me SO much. Now that I’ve done 15-16 miles a few times, it’s really no different! We will see what I’m saying after this marathon, though! ; )
I think just having a plan and sticking to it helps. I also try to be consistent with stretching, foam rolling, and strength training to prevent injuries. They’re all SO important.
I have typically just raced locally, but I’d love to start traveling a little more for races. Are there any super cool races coming up in the STL area??
I hope you have a great day! Congratulations on your crazy impressive race, lady!!!

        Chelsea,
It seems like there are always fun races going on in STL and the surrounding areas. I actually live in IL but I am literally 2.5 hrs from STL and 2.5 hrs from Chicago on I-55 so I try to take advantage of all of the fun races in either Chicago or STL when they become available.
If you are looking for a fast race… I’d recommend Mo’Cowbell (next year). Coming up this year is the Go!Halloween Half Marathon. There will also be a 15k in December held by Hot Chocolate. Let me know if you choose to do any races in the STL area and I might run it too! 😀

      Lindsay,
Oh, you’re right in the middle of all the action – so fun!
If I ever do a race in STL, I will let you know! 🙂
      Have a great weekend!
