After my run yesterday, I had the last of the brussels sprouts, two eggs, and some turkey bacon. I love having brussels for breakfast…maybe I need to make that a new thing.

After that healthy breakfast, I decided I needed a cookie. Balance, right? ; )

I love that Jake is always down to do a workout with me!

Jake posted this picture yesterday and I had never seen it before – he said he screen shotted the video of our proposal to get it. That was the BEST day. He finished 100 miles AND asked me to marry him. <3 I still have no clue how he was able to got down on one knee after running 100 miles in the mountains, but he did!

My new watch came in yesterday!!! Eek! I’m obsessed.

About 9 am yesterday, I decided I wanted to get a massage. I’m kind of in a waiting zone right now with my dissertation, so I figured now was the best time before things get crazy. Not that I really needed an excuse to get a massage. I called the spa I always go to and they actually had an opening for that day! I was pumped. Jake’s Grandma, Rosa Lee, had given me a gift card to use for my birthday, so I was excited. The massage was awesome – check out those post massage lines…ha! I was so relaxed, I was having trouble walking. That’s how you know it was a good massage!

I was STARVING after my massage, so I ate the last little bit of Jake’s chicken salad – I need to make this again. It was really good!

And then devoured some plantain chips, hummus, and Sriracha. Yum.

This is literally my life. I think about food all the time. I just love it SO much.

Okay, I’ve bragged on our awesome neighbor, Ashleigh, before, but look what she left on our front porch yesterday! Those adorable little pumpkins, the painted pumpkin, and those beautiful mums. Ash is seriously the BEST. Have you ever met someone who is ALWAYS thinking about others and how to make them smile? That’s Ashleigh. I want to be more like her. We had big plans for the landscaping in our front yard, but then this summer was so crazy with Jake’s racing and us being gone all the time, yard work time somehow got away from us. These gorgeous mums definitely help our dreary front yard! THANK YOU!!! We are so blessed to have thoughtful neighbors like her.

I finished up some research for the article I’m co-authoring – I actually found some REALLY good stuff, so that was awesome. It’s been a battle to find research, so I felt better after finally finding some valid articles. We had a birthday dinner for our friend Wade last night, and he wanted to go to one of his favorite Mexican places here in town. It’s a super small place, so Kayla (his girlfriend) and I went early to grab a table for our group. Jake went fishing after work, so he was just going to meet us there. While I waited for Kayla to pick me up, I watched a little Scandal, sipped on wine, and stared at my new watch. All the heart eyes!

Katie and Kayla with the birthday boy!

Kayla and Wade just bought a house and they’re SUPER close to us now – less than a mile. I’m pumped!!

Cesar’s has the best sangria. Ever. I got my staple meal – two tacos – one with chicken and one with pork and pineapple, sans tortillas. SO GOOD.

That happened.

The birthday boy and his lady!

I just wanted ONE decent picture. Eye-roll. Check out our photo bomber in that second picture…HA!

“Hi, Mom!”

Here’s our rowing circuit! Jake ran out of time this morning, but I did the whole thing twice. It took less than 40 minutes. I can tell I haven’t rowed in awhile – my hands are pretty raw. But it was a fun workout! If you try it out, let me know what you think and what you add/change!

Little baby muscles!

I’m going to work on my article a little today…then I might risk it and start doing a little bit of work on my study – I’m just hoping my edits are accepted! I don’t want to have to rewrite anything a million times. So we will see how brave I’m feeling later! ; ) We have a surprise date tonight! All I told Jake was to be ready to leave the house at a certain time tonight. He HATES surprises and I love them. He hasn’t complained about this one, though! Yet. ; ) I’ll fill you in on all of that on Monday! Follow me on Instagram (chelseakdorman) if you NEED to know sooner – ha! I need to get some trail miles in tomorrow, so I’m hoping I can make that happen. I think we have a bonfire to go to Saturday night. Jake’s great grandpa passed away this week, so we are driving to the visitation on Sunday – it’ll be 10 hours round-trip, but we wouldn’t miss it for anything.
Any big weekend plans?
Anyone racing this weekend?
What’s your favorite Halloween candy?

Cheers to the weekend!!!
Sorry to hear about Jake’s Grandpa 🙁
I snapped a pic of your rowing circuit… I changed my workout schedule to 3 on 1 off for the month of October as a trial, so I will be spending more time at the gym by myself (vs. always doing the Crossfit group classes) so I am going to keep it to try some time!
This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving so Monday is a holiday. My hubby is working ALL weekend, 12 hour shifts Friday to Monday but I am going to be working on house work/stuff, cooking/baking, working out, and shopping (starting for xmas!).
Oh my goodness, that “I’m not like other girls” quote is me to a T! We always joke about how I spend the majority of my time eating food, planning food, prepping/cooking food, or shopping for food, and when I’m not doing that, I’m thinking about what I get to eat next!! haha
Have a great weekend, safe travels on Sunday.
Dayle
Dayle,
Thank you for your kind words.
I’m glad to hear that – let me know what you think of it!
Happy early Canadian Thanksgiving! 🙂 I love weekends like that.
I know! I am always thinking about my next meal…not sure if thats a good or bad thing! HA!
Have a wonderful long weekend, lady!
