Weekend Wrap-up!

Breakfast on Friday after my rowing circuit! Mmm.

I can’t keep cookies in the house…I had this right after breakfast…

Just sleeping in her favorite spot on Dad’s recliner.

I had packed Jake’s lunch Thursday night, forgetting he had a meeting at work where he was going to be fed. I ended up eating part of his lunch so it didn’t go to waste. I felt like it had been a long time since I’d had a sandwich. It was good!
Picture
My Trail Sister hat came in! It fits SO well. I couldn’t wait to test her out on my trail run Saturday morning.
Picture
Here are my 4th and 5th loads laundry for the day! Aspen wasn’t being a huge help…
Picture

Heading out on our date! We took an Uber and I texted our driver and told him that Jake didn’t know where we going, so he kept it a secret, too! Jake doesn’t love surprises, so I had a little fun teasing him.
Picture

We went to Kai for their happy hour. You can get 3 rolls for $10 and 3 appetizers for $10. It was SO good. I had been craving sushi and this hit the spot!
Our rolls and an order of Stuffed Mushrooms – Jake’s favorite.

Gyoza and Tuna Dynamite.

The aftermath…I got full really fast, so I left poor Jake to finish a lot of the appetizers. He did it, though!
Picture

After dinner, we met some friends at the Shrine Mosque for a concert. The Turnpike Troubadors were playing. I had never seen them play before, but they were SUPER good!
Picture
It was SO hot inside the building…the concert was sold out, so it was PACKED.
Picture

Then it was up to hit the trails at Busiek Saturday morning! My first run with my new watch AND I got to break in my new hat. Both were incredible and I am officially obsessed. We got 10 miles in to start our Saturday!
PicturePicture
Then we went home and showered before going to Brew Co. for brunch. They have delicious Bloody Maries, so we each had one.
Picture

I had a veggie omelette with toast and bacon. It was obviously delicious…I was starving after our run!
PicturePicture
For some reason, I was CRAVING a frozen mocha from Panera. No clue why! I hadn’t had one in YEARS. So, we went by Panera and shared one. Oh my. It was everything I remembered it to be!
Picture

After we ran a couple errands, I wanted to do some computer stuff and relax, and Jake wanted to fish. He FaceTimed me while he was out to show me how beautiful it was. He caught a decent sized catfish on his paddle board!
Picture
Oh. My. Gosh. Oh my gosh. Guys, this was awful. Jake called on his way home as he was stopping by the store to get stuff for dinner and he had me go out into the shop to look for something. The girls followed me out and I almost stepped right on this SNAKE. It was caught in a spider trap. Jake was on the phone with me and heard me freak out…he said he had no idea what was happening. I’m sure I scared him! Lu was getting really close to the snake to smell it, so I kind of lost it. I’m not over dramatic or anything…but I was terrified.I HATE snakes. Ugh, it was awful. Jake couldn’t get it out of the trap, so he had to kill it, which made both of us sad. Well, it made Jake sad. I just didn’t want to look at it anymore…
Picture

Jake grilled up a feast for us! It was a gorgeous night out, so we wanted to take full advantage of the beautiful weather.
Picture

Yummmm.

After dinner, we walked down to Creekside, a little bar by our house. My parents and grandparents met us there to listen to some music. Isn’t this the cutest stage? I love when they have it all set up – it’s so perfect. Bands don’t always play on this side of the creek, so it’s exciting when they do!
Picture

It was the perfect night to sit outside and enjoy some amazing music.

We drove to Shelbina Sunday morning for Jake’s great grandpa’s visitation, which is about 3 and a half hours away. I got up and did my last run of the week – 5 miles at an 8 minute pace. My legs were pretty sore from our trail run Saturday, but it felt so good to shake them out a little before sitting in a car most of the day.
Picture
After my run, I showered and got ready, then we drove through Panera on our way out of town to grab breakfast. We were going to meet Jake’s parents and his sister, Chelsea, for lunch, so we wanted to hit the road fairly early.
Picture

We met at Osage Beach, did a little shopping, then went and had lunch at Backwater Jack’s, which is right on the water. It was beautiful!
Picture

Chelsea fed the fish and we had fun watching them eat – some of these fish were HUGE!

Family selfie!

There’s the restaurant and bar in the background – I’d love to come here in the summer after being out on the lake.
Picture

Whoops whoops whoops! We were both craving something sweet and I was sleepy, so we snagged these yummies. We ate the whole bag…
Picture

We got to the hotel that Jake’s parents are staying in, changed, and headed to the visitation, which was from 4-7. It was nice to see everyone, and I got to meet some family members I hadn’t met before. Jake’s great grandparents had 9 children, so there were 50+ grandkids. It was crazy to see that many family members. I loved getting to meet and catch up with everyone.

After the visitation, we had dinner all together. Everything was wonderful! Chelsea was riding back home with us, so the 3 of us ate quickly, said our goodbyes, and hit the road again.

Picture
Pumpkin pie is my WEAKNESS. This was SO good. I mean, maybe a favorite. And look how tall it was?! I ate the whole things…whoops.
Picture

We didn’t get home until after midnight last night, so I slept in a little, then made this yummy breakfast. I’m doing lots of meal planning and prep today, so I’m headed to the grocery store to stock up. I need to do a little computer work and get an arm workout in, but today is my rest day from running. I need it! I had a lot of intense runs last week, so I’m definitely taking today to heal and rebuild from that.

It’s one of my girlfriend’s birthdays today, so I will see her later to celebrate! Happy Birthday, Cort!

I love how your posts include so many photos, especially of food!
I made a couple recipes this weekend… pumpkin muffins — well I made a batch Saturday and again Monday because they were SO good, and I wanted to use up more of the can of pumpkin puree. Even hubby liked them!
I also made the roasted butternut squash soup, banana chocolate chip muffins (a healthier version), apple crisp (always use a healthy version for this), a huge pot of pasta sauce, etc… I spent the day cooking yesterday and now my freezer is stocked right up – love it!
You probably saw all this on my instagram stories, and I think I shared one or two of the recipes here last week but I will paste them here in case you’re interested:
