Happy Friday the 13th!!! I hope this happens for EVERYONE. : )
Jake and I switched up our weekend running plans, so we took Thursday off instead of Friday – we usually use Friday as a cross training or rest day, but this week, we ran on Friday. I did this little rowing circuit yesterday. It only took 20 minutes! Yes, please. Rowing makes me sore. I can definitely feel this workout in my legs and arms today.
This shirt is one of my favorites. Squats vs shots…
Lunch has been the same all week – chicken and sweet potatoes. I’m not sick of it yet!
After lunch yesterday, I cleaned and did some grading, then worked on data analysis a little bit more. I have a phone meeting today, so hopefully that wraps up our data stuff with this article. Fingers crossed.
I got some new bands for my watch – another perk for this watch is that the bands are SO easy to change. I love it! This is by far my most favorite watch ever. Hands down. It’s so comfortable, too.
These two kept coming into the kitchen while I was cooking dinner, which they are not supposed to do. They got in trouble, so they sat like this and pouted while we ate dinner.
When we finished eating, they knew they were going to get fed, so they stopped pouting and acted like they were perfect angels. YEAH RIGHT. They sat like this and stared at me until I fed them supper. I swear they can tell time…every day at 5 PM, Lulu starts sticking really close to me. We try to feed them between 5 and 6 everyday. They’re too smart for their own good…
Our dinner last night was tilapia with asparagus and mushrooms. We ate earlier than usual because I was going to yoga and wanted to have time to let my food settle. We usually eat dinner between 6 and 6:30, but if I could eat 5:30 every single day, I totally would!
After dinner, I got tired, so the girls and I laid in bed and watched Parks and Rec while Jake relaxed/napped in his recliner. Real wild Thursday! ; )
Then he came in and joined us for some family cuddles!
Kayla picked me up about 7 and we headed to Pure Hot Yoga to take a class from Jyssica! It was AWESOME. She’s an amazing teacher. I have missed yoga, so I’m making it a goal to get to a class at least once a week. I’d love to make it twice a week, but we will just see how that goes. Running buddies AND yoga buddies. The perfect combination!
When I got home, Jake was sitting on our porch with some bourbon listening to music, so I showered real quick, threw my robe on over my jam jams (that’s what my girlfriend, Katie, calls pajamas and I love it, so I’ve stolen it), and joined him! It was relaxing to sit outside and chat while enjoying our bourbon.
We came inside to this. Jake is obviously Lu’s favorite, she ALWAYS sleeps on his pillows. She made this little bed herself.
Then it was up to run! I was SO sleepy this morning. I chugged some coffee, hoping that would help.
I was also starving, so I had a waffle with honey. Jake had written a pretty tough workout for us, so I knew I needed a little something in my stomach for energy.
I also had my BCAAS! This is my favorite kind. I love the flavor. It’s perfect for in the AM when you don’t want a sour flavor. I feel like a lot of the BCAAs that I’ve tried are sour, which I just can’t do in the morning, it makes me feel super nauseous. But this never does!
Woof. That run hurt. We did 7 miles total, with a mile warm-up and a mile cool-down. We pushed the 5 miles in the middle and they were SUPER hilly. We were shooting for those 5 miles to be between 7:30 and 7:50. Jake killed it, but I pushed too hard on the third mile and kind of fell apart. I was just dead and couldn’t seem to muster up the strength to climb any faster. I probably averaged 7:55/8s for my 5 in the middle. I had a lot of trouble catching my breath this morning, and at two points during our fast 5 miles, I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack from not being able to breath. I was kind of bummed about that, but it does no good to be upset about it – it gives me something to work on! I didn’t throw up, which I thought was a definite possibility, too. We saw my birth mom, Dawn, as she was heading to work, so that was awesome! We stopped and chatted with her for a little bit. Thank you, Dawn, for giving me a much needed break! <3
Random, but I dropped my phone and it took a picture when I did – I thought it was kinda cool. It was of the lightbulbs in our garage. #art
We ate all of the breakfast casserole and I wasn’t ready to thaw the frozen portion, so we had an egg and veggie scramble for breakfast this morning. It was yummy!
We have a 15 mile trail run in the morning, so we are going out for pasta tonight!! I can’t wait. What’s your favorite pre-long run meal? I might have to try it out!
We are having a BBQ tomorrow night, so we are excited about that! I’m hoping I can pull off a nap after our trail run…fingers crossed! Other than that, I think we will have a relaxing weekend!
What’re your weekend plans?
Anyone racing this weekend?
What’s your favorite pre-long run meal? Anything you stray away from?
Happy Weekend!!!!

Not to be hokey (cause I’m really not-promise!!) but if you look at your lightbulb pic is looks like the initials J & C!!! Coincidental? I think not 😉
No races this weekend … after two weekends of back to back races I needed a BREAK! I even took thursday off of work so that I could take a 4 day weekend. BUT I did run 13.1 miles this morning as I start to build up my distance base for my second full marathon. The countdown to February is on!
