Weekend Wrap-up!

I headed out Friday morning for a 5 mile jog. I had been pretty sore all last week, so I was just trying to shake my legs out. About a mile from finishing my run, I started getting some shin splint pain. Ugh. I was not happy about it. I was not about to risk an injury, so I knew our weekend running plans were going to change for me. As much as I don’t love them, rest days are SO important. It’s taken me awhile to learn that – I usually just run through injuries and then end up being injured ALL the time. Not a fun way to train! So, I made sure to stretch, foam roll, and ice on Friday afterward my run. I figured I wouldn’t run at all Saturday.

I had to run to the mall to grab a shirt for Jake for a wedding he was in on Saturday. The smells from this delicious popcorn sucked me in. I was pretty hungry after my run, too.
Picture

Whoops! That bag was full and flowing over the top when I bought it…this is what happened just while walking from the store to my car in the mall parking lot.
Picture

I came home, still hungry after chowing down on popcorn, and had salad and a spicy black bean veggie burger. Mmm.
Picture

I did a bunch of work, had a two hour phone meeting, then had a little snack.
Picture

Jake got home from work and we headed to the rehearsal dinner for his uncle’s wedding. It’s blazer season!! I have a weird obsession with blazers. I always have…they’re just comfy and they keep me warm.
Picture

I ate everything on this plate. I was starving and it all tasted SO good.
Picture

I couldn’t finish my dessert plate because I was so full, but these were yummy, too!
Picture

We had a couple of plans to do things after the rehearsal, but we came home and couldn’t decide what to do. We were both full from the yummy food, which made us sleepy.
Picture

The girls were sleepy, too.

The Planks ended up coming over – they’re our friends who got married in September. They just got back from their honeymoon – they went to Hawaii! We got to hear all the stories and see all their pictures. It looked AMAZING. Lu was obviously loving having them over…
Picture

I got up Saturday and still had some shin splint pain, so I didn’t run. To make myself feel better, I made a delicious egg and veggie scramble. I’ve been adding coriander to a lot of my food lately and I’m really loving the flavor. So I added turmeric and coriander to this goodness and added a waffle with PB and honey. One side of my waffle got a little crispy, but I kind of liked it better that way.

As I was getting ready for the wedding, my blow dryer FINALLY went out. It’s been kind of shooting out flames (not huge, more like sparks…dramatic, right?) every once and awhile for the last few months…I don’t blow dry my hair very often, so I just kept putting it off. I ran to the store super quick to get a new blow dryer so I could finished getting ready. I got this bad boy.
Picture

The wedding was beautiful! Morgan and AJ (the bride and groom) are two of the sweetest, funniest people ever! Congratulations, you two! <3
Picture

Shin splints = flats for life.
Picture

Jake squeezes people when he hugs them sometimes…so I decided to make farting noises? Not super proud of that decision, but it got him to stop! ; )
Picture

Aren’t these adorable? I love the spray painted bottle and fall decor.
Picture

We had a taco bar at the reception! It was SO good. That mango salsa in the top left was AMAZING.
Picture

I got to hold this angel for awhile. She was so sweet.
Picture

Isn’t her little vest the cutest??? I wanted to take her home.
Picture

As the reception died down, Jake and I did a wardrobe change and headed to the THOMAS RHETT CONCERT!!!! Thomas Rhett had always been one of my dream concerts. I just think he is such an amazing person and I love his little family. I had been wanting to go to this concert forever, but I knew we had the wedding and I obviously didn’t want to miss that at all, so I just assumed we wouldn’t go. Well, we were told the reception probably wouldn’t last super long, but we still weren’t sure. We didn’t want to leave all Jake’s family since we don’t get to see the out of towners very often. Saturday morning, I just happened to get on the ticket sales site and they had released more pit tickets!!! I freaked out. I love being in the pit for concerts. And in the pit to see Thomas Rhett? Heck yes. I immediately called Jake, who told me to get them. I was SO excited. So, we got to see Thomas Rhett up close and personal! <3
Picture

Old Dominion was one of the openers for Thomas Rhett and they were INCREDIBLE, too! This was hands down one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
Picture

Picture

Walker Hayes (the other opener), Old Dominion, and Thomas Rhett all did a song together, which was super cool. They were having an absolute blast!
Picture

So. Much. Fun!!!
Picture

This is one of my favorite pictures. I loved the handwritten lyrics.
Picture

Picture

Thomas Rhett played the drums for a little bit, too!
Picture

Check out that crowd.
Picture

At the end of the concert, this gold glitter was released EVERYWHERE. It was awesome.
Picture

We had it all over! I found some in our kitchen the next morning…
Picture
I can’t imagine cleaning all of that up…
Picture

We danced off our dinner from the reception, so we had a little snack when we got home. Buffalo chicken dip and smoked pulled pork that Jake’s Dad made for the rehearsal dinner. SO. GOOD. Oh, and Sriracha. Of course.
Picture

Our friend, Brandi, is an amazing photographer. She took pictures for MATCO TOOLS’ fall catalogue. I got to model some of the pieces, which was so fun! Here’s the cover that she shot. Our friend, Dan, is in the red shirt in the back, too! My Mom had come over to let our girls out for us, so she left a couple copies on our kitchen counter , haha!
Picture

Jake and I got up Sunday to run. I didn’t have ANY shin splint pain AT ALL! Wahoo! It was cold and rainy, but we still got out and got our run in. We had planned on doing 15, but ended up stopping with 12. I was just worn out and freezing from the rain. It literally rained on us the entire time. Plus, the wind was AWFUL and so cold. I’m a baby when it comes to that. We left our car in a parking garage by the arena where the concert was and Ubered home, so we just ran to get our car! It worked out perfectly.
Picture
After our run, we threw on dry clothes, then went to Galloway to meet a girlfriend who was in town from Dallas. I had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries. It was perfect after a cold run!
Picture

This is Nic – she has to be one of the kindest, most positive, hard-working gals we know. We absolutely loved getting to spend a little time with her! And yes, Jake and I were accidentally matching. He LOVED it. Not.
Picture

Picture

We see Cameron (picture) and his fiancè, Ashley, at Galloway ALL the time. It’s so funny. We can almost always count on seeing them there, which we love! Here’s an idea, maybe one time we should go TOGETHER! ; )
Picture

Then it was home to relax and cuddle our babies. Aspen REALLY wanted me to play with her, hence the toy on my leg and her face. I immediately put on sweat pants when I get home – anyone else? I don’t know how Jake can relax in real pants. It doesn’t make sense to me.
Picture

Our neighbor’s tree is starting to change and I love it.
Picture

The sunset last night was gorgeous.
Picture

We had Chinese food Sunday for the first time in FOREVER last night. We used to do this EVERY Sunday night.
Picture

And while it was delicious, I remembered why we stopped doing this…I was SO stuffed and my stomach was upset all night. But, it was SUPER good.
Picture

We finally started Ozark last night! We may or may not have binge-watched 3 entire episodes…so far, we LOVE it. Anyone else watching this?
Picture

I’m going to do a rowing circuit here in a little bit, then knock out computer work! I also need to put together our Halloween costumes! We had three ideas – Squints and Wendy from Sandlot, Lola and Bugs from Space Jam,
or Forest Gump and Jenny. Any guesses on what we might be?
Who can relax in real pants? – NOT ME! Sweatpants for life.
Anyone watching Ozark?
Any other amazing Netflix or Hulu shows we should check out?
I hope your Monday is wonderful!

    Hey there!
I definitely cannot relax in real pants! I always change as soon as I get home from work or being out somewhere.
We have been watching This is Us on Netflix, and on Friday Stranger Things 2 is coming out so we will probably watch that and then going back to This is Us.
I did one of your rowing circuits yesterday! I had saved it from a few weeks back. It was great!!
I also tried the eggs/oatmeal concoction you posted about. I had it yesterday and today. Yesterday I used egg whites, and today a whole egg. I am sooo impressed because I am usually someone who NEEDS a morning snack between breakfast and lunch, but today, I am less than an hour from lunch and not too hungry yet after that breakfast – awesome! It also powered me through two rowing workouts yesterday.
    In mine I did:
    30g quick oats
    1 scoop collagen peptides
    dash of cinnamon
    100ml cashew milk
    1 whole egg
    microwaved for 2:30
Then topped with 15g of peanut butter and 10g of honey. LOVE it. New fave breakfast!!
    Happy Monday!!

      Hi, Dayle!
Oh, I’m so glad to hear that! It definitely keeps me full, too! I think that’s a big part of why I love it so much. I’m going to have to try it with cashew milk…that sounds delicious! I’m glad you liked the rowing workout, too! I love rowing. It’s such a good, whole-body workout. Thank you for sharing! I hope you had a great weekend!
