I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Ours was crazy busy and feels like it absolutely flew by – I worked all day Friday on computer stuff, then we had people over before going to listen to Lyal Strickland at Creekside. We also got in a long run, family time, a Halloween party, and our engagement pictures!
Going back to Friday afternoon – This is one of my favorite snacks! Yogurt, dry oatmeal, and frozen fruit. So good!
Lunch was the rest of the chicken we had had on Thursday and more brussels. Mmm.
I went to yoga in the evening while Jake went on a little ride, so I picked up Nearly Famous for dinner. It’s one of my FAVORITES. I got the seafood and swiss quiche – it was amazing. Their salad is also one of the bests EVER. No joke. If you haven’t tried it and you’re in the area, go eat there! I promise you’ll love it.
We love Lyal!
One of my besties, Kallie, was in town from KC! We went to high school together and have been friends forever. I want her to move back here.
These pretty gals were there, too! They’re both SO sweet. Also, Jake bought a Creekside shirt and I stole it to put on over my sweater. Best decision ever.
Then it was up on Saturday to get our long run in! Skratch all the way! And my BCAAs.
I love our long runs together.
It was a little chilly when we started our run, but after about 2 miles, it felt incredible. Plus, it was absolutely gorgeous out.
We had to stop around mile 8 because my dang hamstring/lower back. Jake helped me stretch and massaged my back, which helped! I was able to run again after that and feel a little bit better. I need to get to a chiropractor this week.
It was a beautiful Saturday and we were glad to spend our morning together outside.
The views on this road are gorgeous. We got to check out some new trail that was just finished. We got 11 miles in for the day, our last long run before our races.
Proper refueling at Galloway – veggie burger and green chili pork soup.
We ran some last minute errands, and I decided I needed this hammock and stand.
We went over to my parents’ for dinner to celebrate my Dad being 4 years post surgery. In February, he will be 3 years cancer free!! He had this pellet gun out to scare away coyotes in their backyard, haha!
My parents are in a Supper Club that meets once a month. They had all gotten together on Friday, so my Mom had some of their appetizers leftover. Holy cow. These were good. I can’t remember what they were called, but it’s sausage in applesauce. I’ll get the recipe from my Mom and post it. YUM. They also had some brussels sprouts, so Jake and I cooked those when we got to their house. They know I’m obsessed with them. They had been frozen, so they were a little mushy, but my Dad broiled them for a little bit and that really helped!
My Dad made this brisket and it was delicious!!
YUMMM.
This is how my precious nephew, Ralph, slept all through dinner.
Then it was home to change into our costumes and head to a Halloween party! We went as Forrest Gump and Jenny.
Dan was a pirate captain.
Kayla and Wade hosted the party and it was PERFECT. And how cute is their fridge??? I loved everything!
Their costume was my favorite. By far.
My favorite bull!
I loved everyone’s costumes!
Some of the best people in the world!
We had so much fun!
We started our Sunday with a trip to Vespa for brunch. Check out this Bloody Mary…SO yummy.
Then I got my staple, the Eggs Benedict.
Engagement picture time!
Thank you, Ozark Mtn Flower Truck, for these beauties! Check out the truck and its schedule on Facebook!
After pictures, which were a BLAST, we grabbed a late dinner with Scottie and Brandi. Brandi, who did our pictures, is SO good. If you need a photographer, seriously check her out. There’s a link to her website HERE. You can also find her on Facebook – BG Studios Photography. I cannot wait to get our pictures from her. She showed us a couple, right after she had taken them, and I was so impressed. She knows her stuff. Thank you, lady, for capturing such a special day! <3
Jake and I shared our usual wings. They hit the spot!
I’m hoping to finish up some stuff with that article today – fingers crossed! I need to do laundry and some meal prep, too.
How was your weekend? What did you do?
Any Halloween costume pictures you’d like to share? I’d love to see them! (I love when readers add me on social media – I love getting to see what you are up to! I really do think of my readers as friends! <3)
Happy Monday, friends!

This weekend was crazy for me and I honestly feel like I need another weekend to catch up.
Friday we had a celebration of life for a co-worker who lost her 7 1/2 year battle with cancer last week. We drank in her honor as this lady loved her wine!!
Saturday morning included a 16 mile long run and for my run I didn’t realize we were supposed to get sleet/snow so I split my run into 2-8 milers so I could go back and get my goodr sunglasses from the car to protect my eyes and also to get some fuel. After that run I slept for a few hours before having a fun night out with friends where I ended up on my friends back bowling!! Lmao!
Sunday was supposed to be a rest day and I did a good job resting until my friends convinced me to go to a 90 minute Halloween challenge ride (rode 35 miles) and now it’s monday morning and I’m tired.
Hope to get some rest today and convince myself to register for the full marathon before the price goes up November 1st!!
Can’t wait to see your engagement photos!! Did you indulge in any Halloween candy??
Lindsay,
That’s how I felt yesterday! I felt like my weekend hadn’t even happened. Don’t you hate when that happens?
I’m sorry to hear about your friend – I hope the celebration was fun! I love that.
What marathon are you thinking of doing?
I haven’t had any Halloween candy yet, we haven’t bought any! I’m sure I’ll splurge and have some tonight, though!
Hope you’re having a great day and feeling more rested!
Now it’s Wednesday and I am ready for the weekend. I have a 17 mile run planned … so I will have to see how it goes and I can’t wait for the multi-hour nap following the run.
I am registered for “The Florida Marathon” in February down in Melbourne, FL. I am pretty nervous but I think it will be fun none the less.
