Typing & working out + my Mom makes me laugh + Halloween fun!

My cute little work buddy. She left her candy corn necklace on all morning. Aspen wanted hers off immediately.

I picked these up at the store the other day. They’re pretty good! I like eating them 3 or 4 at a time. I grabbed a big handful once and they didn’t taste as good. But they’re a good snack!

Breakfast #2 yesterday…my leftover Eggs Benedict from Sunday. I forgot this was in the fridge and I didn’t want it to go to waste. It was still super good! I spent the morning working on edits, and I managed to get quite a bit finished! I took a break around 12:30 to go to CVS to get my flu shot. Let’s just say I left about 1:30 with NO flu shot. I was NOT happy about it. I’m currently mad at CVS. The one by our house is always SO slow and I don’t love going there. Lesson learned for the millionth time. So I still have to go get a flu shot at some point. I try not to be negative about businesses, I know things happen, but this isn’t the first time I’ve been frustrated with the store by us. Rant over.

I came back home to work some more. I found a new awesome way to get some weights in while still typing, HA! I set my timer for 10 minutes. During those 10 minutes, I did nothing but type and work. When the timer went off, I set it for 3 minutes and did a little weight circuit. I repeated that for about an hour. It worked really well! I finished editing 18 pages, so I’m totally finished with Chapter 1 and halfway through Chapter 2. I’m going to do this again today! At this point, I’m willing to do anything to get this stuff finished. Desperation, friends.

I also ate lunch in the middle of this workout routine. Spaghetti squash casserole and a peach.

Thennnnn I ate all of these. Whoops! Jake’s Grandma brought them over for us with a whole bag of goodies! She’s the best. And these were DELICIOUS.
Picture

When Jake got home from work, we headed to Sam and Ryan’s house to pass out candy! They live in a neighborhood that is known for their trick-or-treating, so we were excited to see all the cute costumes. And hang out with Sam and Ryan, of course.

How adorable is their porch? (I’m super obsessed with their house, so I apologize in advance for sounding creepy. They’re used to it!)   ; )
Picture

They also fed us chili and all kinds of other goodies. They’re the best.

My sister, Piper, and I like to tease my Mom. A lot. But we just can’t help it! She’s so funny and she doesn’t even know it! I love the very last text from my sister about the trick-or-treaters not noticing my Mom’s light fixtures….HA! Mom, thank you for keeping us entertained ALL the time. You’re the best!

Sam and I had matching hats!

I’m SO glad Sam and Ryan kept their fire pit going all night. It got super chilly. People kept coming over and asking if they could warm up by our fire. It felt so good!
Picture

S’mores! I hadn’t had one of these delicious treats in forever. I like to get my marshmallow completely burnt…anyone else do this?
Picture

Last year, we only had 3 trick-or-treaters at our house, so it was so much fun to see hundreds! I even got to see a couple of students I used to teach, which I loved!
Picture

Sam and Ryan just re-did their kitchen. How perfect is this? I’m totally obsessed. It might just be the most adorable kitchen I’ve ever seen. It looks like it belongs in a magazine. Well, their whole house does really. It’s just super cute.
Picture

Here’s the spread they made for us! They’re such great hosts. <3

One of my besties from high school and her husband live down the street from Sam and Ryan. They came over to enjoy our fire, too! Aren’t they cute? This is Cassie, who owns Ozark Mtn Flower Truck (the flowers and truck I’m always talking about) – check it out on Facebook and Instagram.

Up to run on this chilly Wednesday! We were rocking our matching Altra pullovers. I can’t believe it’s already November…
Picture

I’m going to the chiropractor again this morning – I’m still having pain while running, but the pain when I’m sitting has almost completely gone away! Fingers crossed. After the chiropractor, I hope to finish editing Chapter 2. I’m 100% doing the timer thing again. It really helped!
How do you like your s’mores? Burnt marshmallow or just browned??
Did anyone go trick-or-treating?
Any big plans or goals for November?
Happy November!

Not really a huge fan of s’mores but I do like the combination of s’mores flavors in ice cream, protein bars, etc.
No trick-or-treating here … it is super cold in central IL right now so we only had 9 trick-or-treaters stop by so we had a TON of left over candy. All that candy went into the office with me today and I am sure that it will be gone in a week or so.
November is the month of my trip to England for a little over 2 weeks … Can’t wait!
Have to ask, what are your plans for November?

      Lindsay,
You need to try the S’more Halo Top flavor! It’s SO good!
Oh, England will be so fun! What are your plans while there?
We don’t have any major plans this month – just a back-to-back trail race next weekend and then I’m presenting at a literacy conference in Florida right after Thanksgiving. That’s about it! What about you?

So here’s the thing England will be all FUN but with some family engagements lol! My parents are both originally from England (moved here before I was born) … so my mom and I are going back for our first trip in a few years so while two weeks seems like a LOT but it won’t be enough to see everything we want.
I would love to try the S’mores Halo Top … might have to pick some up tomorrow at the store. Tomorrow is grocery shopping day … so any other recommendations are welcome. I will definitely need some indulgences after running 17 miles on Sunday morning. HAHA!
Where are you going in florida for your conference? I will be in Orlando and Melbourne in less than 4 months … can’t wait!!

        Lindsay,
Oh, that’s crazy! My Dad went to high school in London. We went about 10 years ago to see everything and it was awesome! I hope you have a blast!
Halo Top for sure – best recovery after a run! 😉
My conference is in Tampa. Luckily, my grandparents live close, so I’ll get to see them, too!

Halo Top purchased along with some really looking french bread, peanut butter, and jelly. I have no idea but I am craving a large PB&J and after 17 miles ANYTHING goes.
Do you have any go to post run meals that you just HAVE to have?
Crazy that your dad went to High School in London. Did his parents move their with the military or did he do an exchange program? I will be looking forward to doing a little sightseeing but I’ve been there a few times so I’m probably going to be out in the country more often than not.

      Lindsay,
Did you like the Halo Top?! I LOVE PB&Js. So much! I don’t know that I have something I crave after long runs…orange juice almost always sounds good! Do you ever crave OJ?
My Grandpa worked for an oil company, so they moved there for that, but my Dad went to high school on the military base. They’ve torn it down, but it was called London Central.
I can’t wait to see pictures!
