The stomach flu sucks + puppy nurses + a few more engagement pictures + a sweet deal!

*Jake and I both had the stomach flu yesterday, so that’s what this post is about. You might skip to the very end if you don’t want to read about it! It was terrible.

I had to cut my run short yesterday because I was feeling pretty awful. I woke up feeling pretty sick, but thought that maybe going for a run would help a little. It didn’t…I came back and stretched a little, then decided I needed to try and eat a little something. I made my egg and oatmeal concoction, topped with PB and honey. Before I could eat it, I got busy doing something, so my PB melted all over. It tasted pretty good and I was able to eat it all.

Then the stomach flu hit. I spent the entire day in bed yesterday. I think I slept most of the day. TMI – I was throwing up about every 2 hours. It was awful. I would try and do some work on my computer, but I couldn’t focus. I got out the t-shirt quilt my Mom had made for me with some of my favorite t-shirts from high school. It’s really thick and warm, so it felt SO good. I had the chills all day.

Jake ran to the store on his way home from work and got me some oyster crackers, which I always want when I’m sick, and some Sprite.

I drank this whole thing yesterday, too. I was doing anything to replenish after throwing up.

I really hate throwing up. More than anything. We have back-to-back trail races this weekend, too, so I hope I can rest and recover for those over the next few days.

My friend, Jordan, sent me this last night. Jake and I need this cookbook!

Jake started feeling kind of crummy last night, too. A guy at his work had this bug, so he started thinking maybe he brought it home. I was just praying that he wouldn’t get it. We both had some chicken noodle soup for dinner. It was delicious, but I decided I wasn’t going to try and eat anything else after this. I didn’t want to be sick anymore.

Jake ended up getting sick a couple times in the middle of the night, but we both woke up feeling better! I didn’t get sick again after about 8:30 PM. I can tell I’m still recovering from a day of awfulness, but I think we will both be able to mend before Saturday. My puppy nurses stuck pretty close to my side all day. <3

Okay, enough flu talk – here are a couple more engagement photos!

I’m going to spend the day recovering and working on the stuff I didn’t do yesterday. I told Jake I was mad at myself for not working, but that I physically couldn’t. He told me this work right now is like my job and that I would’ve stayed home from work yesterday, so it was okay that I didn’t do anything. Isn’t he the best? He always knows how to make me feel better.
Anyone have any tips on getting healthy fast after a sickness?
Has anyone had the flu this year?
Has anyone raced while being sick?
Happy Wednesday!

No …. being sick the week before a race is the worst. Really, I just hate being sick no matter what. I am fortunate that I haven’t been sick in ages (knock on wood) and the issues I struggle with a mostly lingering injuries. I would definitely recommend getting some flavored bubbly water to help with the re-hydrating. I am NOT a huge fan of pedialyte because of the flavor so I will stick to the flavored water and diet 7up. Do you still have a fever?
