I ran some errands after my chiropractor appointment yesterday and I saw this when I went to get dog food. I feel like our dogs need this…they lead very stressful lives! ; ) Also, my chiropractor said I’m improving!! I’m dropping down from 2-3 times per week to once every two weeks. YAY! I want this hip/hamstring issue to be totally resolved before I start training for my marathon in January.

I’m a sucker for toys. The girls ripped up their last toy, so they haven’t had one in awhile. I figured rubber ones might last a little longer!

They were pretty excited. Making them pose for this pictures was pure torture for them.

When I got home from running errands, I grabbed a hat and set out for my first run since my back-to-back trail races last weekend. I was excited to get a short run in, just to see how my legs felt. I also realized I was wearing a lot of Go Girl stuff. I didn’t hate it! This is one of my favorite races and I can’t wait to do the half in Oklahoma in March next year!

I got a 3 mile run in at a 7:53 pace. It felt SO good to get out and move. My quads were a little sore, but that was it! I think I’ve recovered pretty well from the weekend. Ready to get a longer run in this weekend.

Post-run smiles. The weather was perfect – it was about 54, which I love.

My new road shoes! It was nice to get to break these in yesterday. They’re the Torin 3.0 by Altra, which is my favorite running shoe brand. I wear Altras for both road and trail running. I think I have 9 or 10 different shoes by Altra – they make shoes for EVERYTHING. Jake and I just got the new workout shoes, they’re called HIIT XT, and I can’t wait to try them out.

Guys, this is why it’s important to wear hats when you run. A dang bird took a poop on my head.

I ran to the store and they had our favorite wine on sale! I stocked up.

Then it was lunch time. Burrito bowl and tortilla chips.

This chocolate was SO good. Thankfully I ate it all, so now I’m not tempted…I had been breaking it off one square at a time, but I polished off the last two squares after lunch yesterday. It just needed to happen.

The girls left me alone all day! I only had to break up a few fights over their new toys.

We had dinner plans, so I set out to make risotto for the very first time! I had no idea how much chicken broth and white wine went into risotto – holy cow. 4 cups of broth and 2 cups of wine.

I made mushroom risotto, so I let the mushrooms sauté in lots of garlic.

I followed THIS recipe. I think it turned out pretty good! And yes, I actually followed the whole recipe! Are you shocked? ; ) I have some things I’d like to add to it next time (broccoli, for sure), but since it was my first time making it, I stuck with the recipe.

Jake got home right as I was finishing the risotto, then we hit the road to go to Mitch’s house. Jake always fills my car up for me if we get gas while we are out. He’s the best. I HATE getting gas.

I’ve mentioned this before, but for new readers, I’m adopted. My parents got me when I was 3 days old. They made sure I always knew I was adopted, but I don’t feel like we made a big deal out of it/it wasn’t ever traumatizing or anything like that. It was just this super cool, unique thing about me and my sister! I got to meet my birth mom, Dawn, about 4 years ago when I turned 25. Getting to meet her was so special and I love that she’s part of my life. This is an old picture from maybe 3 years ago, but Dawn, my birth mom, is on the left, I’m in the middle, and my Mom, Carmen, is on the right. We all went to PBR (professional bull riding) together and it was a blast! Dawn and Mitch will be coming with all of us when we get married in Colorado in May, which will be SO fun!

Jake and I got to Mitch’s house and we all sat out on the back deck until dinner was ready. Isn’t this gorgeous? We got to watch the sunset.

The fire felt so good.

Then we had this deliciousness. Mitch grilled salmon and steak for us. They were both incredible. I ate SO much. I was so full, but it was worth it!

The boys kept ruining our pictures…Mitch is trying to look innocent back there… ; ) We had a wonderful relaxing evening with these two!

Breakfast this morning was a bagel with PB, half a banana, and honey. I am going to run later, so this won’t bother my stomach too much. I haven’t been wanting eggs in the morning, so I’ve been switching it up a little bit.

I have a meeting later today to go over the presentation I finished up yesterday. I’m ready to present and be finished with all that work. I’m going to run here in a little bit, so I’m looking forward to that – especially because the sun is shining!
Anyone have a good risotto recipe to share?
Anyone have any good bird pooping stories? I think I’ve been pooped on once before, maybe at the beach.

It’s Friday Eve! Dang, this week is flying by….
