Friday was my rest day, so I had an interview for my dissertation, did some stuff around the house, then chowed down on this deliciousness for lunch.
Our friend, Dan, sent us this picture. Hahahaha!
I ran a couple errands, which called for a coffee from Mama Jean’s. Look what you got with your coffee purchase! Heck, yeah!
After I grabbed some coffee, I headed to an eye appointment. Overall, my eyes are just fine and there’s no fluid or anything building up, so that’s good! The optometrist said I have an accommodation lag, so she suggested glasses to help combat that. I have never had glasses before (other than fake ones) and she said I still have perfect vision. I’m hoping the glasses will help with my headaches! I should get them later this week/early next week. I was hoping that taking some time away from my computer would help, but I still had a headache most of the weekend. My parents, Jake, and some friends (including a couple of readers) all suggested I go see a doctor, so I’m going to call and make an appointment this week.
Jake was at the grocery store getting ready for his camping trip Friday after work and I called and told him I was craving kettle corn. He grabbed this for me. YES.
Jake left for Ponca, AR, with 3 other guys to camp Friday night and run 22 miles Saturday morning on some trail down there. Jake and his buddy, Seth, were camping in the camper shell. The weather wasn’t super great, so I was glad to be staying home! I went to dinner with my parents Friday night while Jake was gone. We went to Galloway, of course!
Then, the brewery by us had their grand opening Friday, so I took my parents. Jake and I had been there on Thursday, so we bought a beer for my Dad. How cool is this? I love it. You can buy a beer for someone and they get their name written on the board. Then, their first beer is free AND they get a $1off their next beer. I love it!
My parents loved 4 By 4 Brewing Company!
I woke up in the middle of the night and this was my view!
Someone really didn’t want to get up.
I needed to run, and I absolutely LOVE running the snow, but Jake and I didn’t think it would be very smart for me to be slipping and sliding around while trying to come back from a hamstring injury. So, I headed to the Y to get in some treadmill miles. There was a ton of snow on my car!
I got 4 miles in on the treadmill with ZERO hammy pain. I’m REALLY hopeful that I’m on the mend.
These views. So beautiful!
I headed home to eat breakfast super fast before my TRX class.
I got to watch my Year in Sport on Strava while I ate! Here’s my summary.
I LOVE TRX. I haven’t been in forever and I was pumped about going and getting to see everyone. The girls at Physique are some of the sweetest ever.
After TRX, I ran a last minute errand, then met my Mom, Adrienne, and her Mom, June, for lunch at La Paloma. Adrienne’s margarita was the biggest one I’ve ever seen. It was glorious. Thanks for sitting next to me after I worked out! You’re a true friend. <3
I didn’t know we were taking cute pictures…
A and I shared these amazing fajitas. So. Good. Our mothers totally copied us and got the same thing to share.
I guess I bruised my palm a little doing some floor workouts with sliders?? No clue!
Here’s a picture of Jake at the halfway mark in their run! He amazes me daily. The longest run he had done recently was 10 miles. His ability to do hard things and his mental capacity to push when it hurts inspires me every day.
They saw elk!!
Jake got home from Arkansas, we cleaned up, and headed to my birth mom’s foster family Christmas! It was our first time going and we were excited to be included.
We had salad and pizza for dinner. I haven’t been eating dairy, but I splurged and had two pieces. It didn’t bother me and I didn’t get acid reflux. YAY! It was delicious.
We played a super fun game with dice and if you rolled a double, you got to take a present. You could also steal! It was hilarious and an absolute blast. I had these mustaches stolen from me! How cute is this? Ha!
One of my presents from Dawn, my birth mom. She gets me! I love Fireball.
Jake got some homemade deer sausage from Dawn’s boyfriend, Mitch. It was SO delicious.
And these chocolates. SO yummy.
We have a big down comforter, but it’s too hot to sleep with, so we have been sleeping with my t-shirt quilt from high school! Ha! It’s perfect. The girls really love it.
People have asked about my winter running attire – here’s what I wore Sunday for a run in 32-35 degree weather! I don’t like being cold, so I wore tights. Jake would’ve worn shorts. I always layer up top. I wore a really thin base layer from Brooks, a thicker long-sleeved Under Armor over that, and then my Outdoor Research vest. I also had a buff (I always wear one in the winter), gloves, thick socks, and a hat. That’s it!
It was the perfect amount of clothing and I LOVED getting to run outside.
I ran 6, which was my longest run in a LONG time….probably in a month and a half. I had ZERO pain again! I knew my hammy would be a little sore afterwards, just because it was my longest run, but I was so thankful I didn’t have any pain during.
Winter running is my favorite.
After my run, I foam rolled, stretched, and showered. Dawn also gave me this necklace for Christmas. I love it!
Jake got home from mountain biking with some friends, and we headed out to grab a quick lunch and do some last minute shopping. I wanted wings and beer from Coyote’s. It hit the spot!
I saw this flask tie at Macadoodle’s and it made me laugh. I need to get this for someone. I also got to take a picture with these two. It was awesome.
Then it was home to open one of our presents before going to Jake’s parents’ for Christmas Eve! Sorry these are dark…I broke the light in our living room and we haven’t had time to fix it yet…
The girls were excited to give Jake his present. Lu was pretty sad we were leaving…she wouldn’t leave my side.
Jake got me this awesome pillow and the girls gave him a French press. He’s been wanting one forever.
I threw on my longest, comfiest sweater and we hit the road! This sweater goes all the way to the floor. It’s SO warm.
We had all this deliciousness for Christmas Eve dinner! Jake asked me if I had gotten a picture of all the food, I was bummed and said I had forgotten. He smiled and said he took one for me. It’s like he’s marrying a blogger or something… ; )
Then it was time for dessert! Red Velvet Cake and Deep Eddy’s vodka. Mmm.
Penny, Jake’s Mom, had this print made of one of our family photos – didn’t it turn out awesome? I love it.
The Chelseas. Jake’s sister’s name is also Chelsea. Her middle name is Ray and mine is Kay. Everyone either calls us Chelsea Ray and Chelsea Kay or #1 (Chels) and #2 (me).
Chels and Nala!
Jake made Old Fashioneds (I guess that’s how you would say that??) and they were delicious.
Nala was worn out from all the excitement.
Staring contest between Nala and Jeff, Jake’s Dad. I think Jeff won.
#1 always steals my phone.
After dinner, we did Christmas with Jake’s family, and then headed to church together. Only a tiny bit sleepy after midnight mass! Jake and I got about 4 hours of sleep because we wanted to get to my parents’ house pretty early Christmas morning.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I’ll post our Christmas Day on the blog tomorrow!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
