Family time + the best Christmas presents + support team!

My family from Iowa was in town yesterday, so I went over to my parents’ house to have breakfast with everyone. My Mom made this deliciousness.

Jake’s aunt and uncle got us an Amazon Firestick for Christmas. They said we were always watching Netflix on our laptops (our cable broke to connect laptops to our TV and we never got a new one), so this would solve that problem. I finally got it all set up yesterday and I am OBSESSED. This is SO cool. Thank you, Chris and Michelle!!

They also got us this echo dot and it is AMAZING. We stayed up way too late last night playing Song Quiz on it! You choose a certain genre of music and then you have to guess the artist and/or song name. It’s SO much fun. Aaaand I won!

Penny, Jake’s Mom, got me this huge canvas print of one of our engagement pictures for Christmas. I LOVE it.

I have mentioned before how talented my Dad is with wood working. Well, he built my Mom this beautiful ladder for her to hang blankets on and I told him I’d love one. He surprised me and built one for me for Christmas! It’s definitely one of my favorite presents and I will cherish it forever.

I started taking Christmas decorations down the other day…I miss our tree ornaments already!

Lunch was my favorite sweet kale salad, chicken, and sweet potatoes.

Lu rocked her jean jacket again yesterday…she LOVES it.

We got to have dinner with my family last night. We went to Great American Taco Co. and they had a special on margaritas. Mmmm.

I always get the same thing here – it’s just that good! I get the Hawaiian Tuna on half an avocado. It’s my favorite.

This is my hilarious cousin, Libby. She’s the sweetest and I am so proud of her!

I wish we got to see these people more often, but it’s always special when we get to spend time together! I’m thankful for having such an incredible family. <3

I am also blessed with some of the best girlfriends. With support like this, I know I will get through the next 6 weeks without running. Jyssica and Kayla, the two I’ll be running with in April, have already said they want to do some pool running with me because we are a team – how did I get so lucky?? You gals are the best.

I did a workout on the elliptical this morning and a little bit of lifting! My time on the elliptical flew by and I didn’t have any hamstring pain, so I’m hoping I can do that once or twice a week while I’m recovering. I’m definitely going to focus on stretching, lifting, and TRX. I need to try to get to yoga again to see how it feels. It was bothering my hamstring, but that’s when it was at its worst. I am going to do everything I can to heal!

Eggs, sausage, and a waffle for breakfast!

I have a lunch date with Katie today and I am SO excited. We haven’t had enough time together this year – things have just been so crazy! Tonight, Jake and I have our annual friend Christmas celebration with Scottie, Brandi, Lori, and Jesse. I can’t wait! We exchange a serious gift and a funny gift – it’s always a good time!
Happy Friday Eve, friends!

I am in the same boat as you. I honestly think I’m going to have to drop back to the half distance for my race in Florida in February. Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I want to keep pushing it and potentially have to stop running for months? No. So I am going to keep the option open of dropping to the half because in the end … going on the trip with my friends is the most important part. Looks like you had an AMAZING Christmas!
