Whoops + delicious food + fixed it!

I did a big write-up of my goals for this year, but somehow they didn’t make it on my post yesterday – whoops! Here they are!

2018 Goals:
1. GET HEALTHY – let this hamstring heal completely: this is my number 1 goal right now. I want to be 100% healed so I can crush some of my other goals.
2. Graduate! I don’t care if it’s May, August, or December, but I WILL be Dr. Dorman or Dr. Bradley in 2018.
3. Run a full: I’m hoping this happens sometime in September. If you know of any fulls I should look into – let me know!
4. Prevention and strength training: stay on top of both things! I also plan to do at least a 10-minute ab workout at least 6 days a week this year.

That’s it thus far! I have a lot of mini goals, so I’ll try and share those later.

After some time on the elliptical and Body Pump Tuesday morning, I was starving. This bowl of goodness came to the rescue. Brussels, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, onion, sausage, and two over easy eggs.

After breakfast, I had an in-person interview for my dissertation. It ended up lasting almost twice as long because we stayed and chatted so long afterwards. I definitely love getting to do some interviews face-to-face. After the interview, I snacked on an apple on my drive home. I haven’t had an apple in a long time and this one tasted even better than usual! Anyone else love Granny Smith apples? The tarter an apple is, the more I like it!

Also, I was driving and remembered I love this song. Ever just have a song title jump into your head? I love when that happens. If you haven’t heard this, check it out. It’s a feel good song!

I got home just in time to cook some lunch and chow down. I made mustard chicken and garlic sesame broccoli. We are getting back on track with Paleo, so this was a delicious first lunch back.

Remember how I ruined our menu board? I used chalk markers that didn’t work on this menu board awhile ago. I tried FOREVER to get the writing to come off, but it just wouldn’t, so I found a solution! I used some chalk board stickers to cover where I want to write. Boom. I have missed having our menu posted. Lesson learned…for now.

I made a huge batch of the mustard chicken and sesame garlic broccoli, so Jake can take it to work. I also made some rice for him since he’s training right now. Since we are both endurance athletes, we add more carbs to our diet than Paleo typically calls for. It’s just what works best for us. That’s the thing about food – you have to do what works best for you. I love trying new things, but something about Paleo and how it makes me feel keeps me coming back.

100% using my new planner. <3

Oh, and I finally got my glasses! Totally nerding out over here. I hadn’t had much of a headache all day Tuesday! Fingers crossed. I think taking my medicine for 3 days has really helped, and now I’m hoping the glasses will continue to help once I’m through this round of steroids. I have 6 more days of my pills, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Waiting for your supper is SO hard. She will lay here and pout, jump up on me and cry, or lay in front of her food bowl. We are working on patience…she takes after her Mom.

Some serious data analysis going on! This is my first step – organizing interviews. I’ll code my data after this and find themes. One step closer…

Dinner last night was green bean spaghetti and salad! I used to make this spaghetti all the time and I somehow forgot about it. I’m glad I remembered it. Jake loved it, too. A lot. We topped everything with nutritional yeast for that cheesy flavor. So yummy.

I started my morning at the Y again. I spent some time on the bike then walked a little. I’m trying not to do the elliptical every day, just to give my hamstring a rest, so it’s been fun to mix things up a little bit.

When I finished with the bike and my walk, I knocked out my 10 minutes of abs. I did lots of planks! I’m not as sore as I thought I would be from Body Pump yesterday, so that was a nice surprise. I’m headed to barre at Physique here in a little bit, so I’m looking forward to that!

Look at this little princess angel. Hahaha! She was SO mad at me. Thank goodness for Timehop.

After barre this morning, I’m going to spend some time at the library working. I got everything on my to-do list finished yesterday PLUS a little bit extra, so that was a wonderful way to start my first day back to work. I want to start writing Chapter 4 today, so I’d love to get in two or three hours of writing time. Jake’s Grandma, Rosa Lee, is coming over for dinner tonight since we missed Christmas morning at her house, so it will be wonderful to spend some time with her.
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
