I got an hour of pool running in on Monday morning. I listened to THIS podcast and it made the time fly by! I have wireless, bluetooth headphones and I found out that they’re water resistant. I have the PowerBeats 3 (THSE). Since my head stays out of the water the whole time that I pool run, I was able to set my phone on a bench by the pool and listen to the podcast the whole time. It was great!

I did a variety of things in the pool yesterday. I would do a down and back, then would sprint a single pool length. Then I’d do maybe 2 or 3 down and backs, then sprint a pool length. This also helped the time go by. I’m going to research some more pool running workouts. I think the variety will help keep me entertained. You can see where my heart rate increased with each sprint that I did.

Then it was home to grab breakfast with Jake! I found these oatmeal cinnamon double protein English muffins. Holy cow, they’re good.

Aspen likes to lounge right in front of anything that puts off heat. I found her in the kitchen by the vent under our sink yesterday morning.

I was supposed to go to PT yesterday, but with the weather, it got cancelled. I go again on Wednesday. I had this as a mid-morning snack. I hadn’t had hi-ball before and this was SUPER good. My green banana! Mmm. I shared yesterday that I don’t really like yellow bananas, and if there’s a brown spot on a banana, I won’t eat it. I like them a little under ripe.

We have an AirFryer (thanks, Jeff and Penny), but I have only used it for sweet potato fries. A girl I follow on Instagram posted how she used it for all of her veggies, so I had to try it out!

I chopped up some brussels, tossed them in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a little of this Slap Ya Mama seasoning, then I put them in the AirFryer.

While those were cooking, I threw together some stuff to make salmon patties. I don’t follow recipes (I’m the worst), but I’ll give you my estimates – I just add things that sounds good! I used two cans of salmon, about 1/3 C egg beaters, 1/4 C almond flour, a little dill, 1 T garlic, and 1/8 C parmesan. That’s it! Then I sautéed these in olive oil on the stovetop. Super simple and they turned out really yummy!

Here are the brussels about halfway. I didn’t know how long to cook them, so I just kept checking every 5 minutes. They were frying at 400.

I think they cooked a total of 12 minutes. I want to try this with more veggies! I think it’ll be a trial and error situation – stay tuned!

Here are some of the salmon patties! Those ingredients I listed made 9 total patties.

I topped the patties with avocado hummus, Sriracha, and a balsamic glaze. This lunch was the bomb!

Lu is notorious for giving people wet willies. She’s pretty sneaky about it. I was just trying to take a picture of how sweet she was being and she got me.

Jake and I have been communicating in Bitmojis/GIFs lately. It cracks me up! Anyone else do this??

I did a little arm/ab circuit. I was freezing all day yesterday, so I was 100% okay to stay in my sweats. I love working from home on gross days!

I posted this on Instagram, but I finally got Run Fast, Eat Slow! Oh my gosh. I am OBSESSED. I made my first recipe out of it and Jake and I were both in love. This is the Moroccan Lentil Salad with Cauliflower Couscous. It’s supposed to be eaten cold, but I was wanting something warm, so we had it hot and it was delicious! Wow. So, so impressed. I cannot wait to try other recipes! I’m making a lasagna out of the cookbook on Thursday for dinner!

I may or may not have crawled into bed at 7PM to read…I think I was asleep by 8:30, maybe earlier. I was worn out yesterday!

Somehow, these two squished me. I literally couldn’t move my legs. They have no sense of personal space. And yes, I’m wearing my robe in bed. I really couldn’t get warm last night!

It was up at 4 to get to the Y for a little elliptical action. I haven’t been wearing my chest strap heart rate monitor…mostly because I hate it, but I caved and wore it today because I felt like my wrist monitor was a little off. WOW. It was more than a little off. My wrist monitor said I was in a warm-up zone when I was actually in my threshold zone, which is 3 or 4 zones above warm-up. Looks like I need to be wearing the chest strap monitor more often! I did 4 miles on the elliptical then 10 minutes on the stair stepper. I’ll do some weights and my 10-minute abs later today. I’ve also been doing the exercises my PT gave me, so hopefully that’s helping! I haven’t had any hammy pain and it actually feels a lot better than it has in months. Fingers and toes crossed!

Look who I got to see knocking out another training run – go Kayla, go!

This guy ran 6 outside this morning. In negative temperatures.
I have to brag on Jake a little – he got home from work yesterday (he works on power lines, so he’s outside ALL day, EVERY day), and spent almost an hour clearing not only our driveway and sidewalk, but also our neighbor’s. How sweet is he? He just does that kind of stuff all the time. He has the kindest heart.

I totally forgot to add our veggies to breakfast this morning. Eye-roll. I like getting a serving of veggies with breakfast – I’ll hopefully remember tomorrow.

I’m going to spend the day doing computer stuff. Springfield Brewing Co. has their second lecture in the winter lecture series tonight, so I think we will go listen to that this evening. I think this lecture is on under-training and over-training, so it’ll be interesting!
Happy Tuesday!
