Three workouts for you to try + good beer + trying not to get my hopes up…

This popped up on my Timehop yesterday. HA! If only I had known I would go on to get my PhD…I am SO ready to be finished with school. FOREVER.

I am teaching three online classes this semester, so those are going to keep me pretty busy. I spent the morning checking in with my students, then took a little break to paint my nails. This has been one of my favorite polish colors since high school. Does anyone else have a polish they just keep going back to?? This is mine! It’s called Sweetheart by OPI.

I had a banana and PB for my mid-morning snack again. I LOVE peanut butter. I could probably eat half a container in one sitting…

When my last cup of coffee was halfway gone, I added some dark chocolate almond milk to it. SO. GOOD.

I haven’t done this workout, but I LOVE Tabata, so I thought I’d share it with you! I have been trying to find and/or write workouts that I can do in my living room right now…I don’t want to go in our garage when it’s this cold – I’m a baby. But I love being able to knock out a little strength training while I’m watching Netflix. Workouts like these are the perfect little brain break from my computer work, too.

Lunch was leftover salmon patties and brussels from the AirFryer. I shared the salmon patty recipe HERE.

I wrote this little workout, stealing some ideas from the Tabata workout I shared earlier. I had every intention of doing this, but I ran out of time. I ended up only doing some squats, my PT exercises, and my 10-minute abs. I’ll try this workout soon, though, and let you know how it goes!

It was too cold to be in the garage! I used the table to gauge how low I was getting. It worked pretty well! Totally watching The Office right here…no shame in my game, friends!

i love this stuff. My stomach was a little upset yesterday, so I drank this and it helped!

I had an interview yesterday, late afternoon, then we had a quick dinner of leftovers before heading to Springfield Brew Co. for the second lecture in their winter lecture series. These leftovers were that Moroccan Lentil Salad with Cauliflower Couscous from the Run Fast. Eat Slow cookbook. If you have the book, I HIGHLY recommend this recipe. It’s amazing.

We were pretty excited about getting to drink out of our Mug Club mugs at the lecture!
Picture

The lecture last night was focused on training goals and how to avoid being under/over trained. It was really interesting! After the series is over, I’ll put together a post about each talk and what we learned from them.

I was thinking pretty hard about my own goals!
Picture

My goals are on the left and my priorities are on the right. My goals didn’t change after the lecture (we were supposed to think about our goals and see if they line up with our expectations) and these are actually goals I had already made for myself, so I think I’m on the right path! Number 1 goal AND priority – heal this dang hamstring!

Hammy update: absolutely ZERO pain and it hasn’t felt this good in probably 8 months or so. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think it’s healing. Stay tuned!

After the lecture, we met Scottie and Brandi for a quick beer at 4 By 4 Brewing Co. I love that we all have tumblers! These are a great deal – they’re $25 and you get $1 off every beer that you buy and drink out of them. It’s awesome! And the tumblers are adorable – added bonus!

Up at 4 AM for another pool running day! Brandi met me at the Y and we knocked out a tough ladder workout. Pool running is definitely WAY more fun with friends! We also sat in the sauna for about 20 minutes when we finished our time in the pool.

Here’s what we did! It took 45 minutes and was a really good workout. I’m going to remember this one. I loved it!

I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to one of the kindest people I know – my friend, Jyssica! Happy Birthday, girly! I hope your day is as wonderful as you are! <3 This will be you (but a girl version) at the Rock ‘n’ Roll in April! ; )

I have PT today (I have my hopes up that she’ll clear me to run…I need to stop thinking like that), then I’m going to try and knock out a big chunk of dissertation analysis and writing. I woke up feeling a little stressed about my study, so I think getting a pretty big portion of it finished today will help. I have another interview early evening, then I plan to relax with Jake when he gets home from work!
Happy Wednesday, friends!

YAY! Almost back to running. I am very fortunate that my body has been keeping me in a place where I can continue to run … yes, I still have some nagging aches but its nothing that I can’t handle. Also, pulled the trigger and decided to run the half marathon in February instead of the full marathon. I am choosing the safe option this time. 🙂

      Lindsay,
I’m SO proud of you for listening to your body! It can be hard to do, but in the long run, I think you made the right choice!

Thank you for the shout out 🙂 I hope I look that good or at least think I do haha! I can’t wait to get together soon
