Running in new gear + our new performance program + tracking!

I went on a short run yesterday morning and FINALLY got to wear some of the new gear that Jake got me for Christmas. I didn’t have a very good wind breaker, so he got me THIS one by Marmot. I LOVED it. It’s super lightweight and very comfortable! Oh, and it’s on sale right now!

My hamstring was still a little tight today, but I’m not having that super sharp pain, so I’m still running. It felt SO good to run. I did stop and stretch after a mile and a half and that seemed to help a little bit. I’m keeping up with my stretches, PT exercises, and doing some weight lifting to strengthen my glutes. I think my hips/pelvis are still a little out of alignment, so I’m hoping these exercises and our new performance program will help with that.

I am LOVING being able to run again. I’m still being careful and not running any tempos or anything like that. I’m going to pool run on Wednesday, then try to do 4 miles on Thursday. I think I’m ready for that! I cannot wait to get back into some double digit runs. But I’m taking it slow so I can listen to my body and slow down/cut back when I need to. It’s not easy, but I know it’ll be worth it!

I got hungry before my run, so I had an English muffin with peanut butter and honey. I wanted to wait until the sun came up to run, but I still got up early and did a little bit of work on my computer. It felt nice to knock out some work before my day officially started. After my run, I had some eggs and a turkey sausage patty.

I went to a new grocery store here in town, it’s called Lucky’s. Has anyone else in the area been there? WOW. I loved it! I think we will be shopping there a lot – they had this juice there and I grabbed a bottle of it. It was DELICIOUS.

I also finally found some Health-Ade in a store! Jake and I love Kombucha. I have some pretty terrible acid reflux sometimes and the ginger Kombucha always seems to help. I can’t drink a ton of this because carbonated-like drinks make me super bloated, but I can drink a third of a bottle or so and be just fine.

When I got home from the store, I unloaded groceries, cooked some chicken, then had lunch. Mashed sweet potatoes, a chicken tender, and brussels in our AirFryer again. I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it forever, but BBQ sauce on a sweet potato is AMAZING. With Sriracha, of course!

I baked some chicken with turmeric and a cajun seasoning. It turned out pretty good!

After lunch, I started on our breakfast for the week – and heck yes this recipe is from Run Fast. Eat Slow. I’m officially obsessed, friends. Also, one major lesson that I learned…Jake is WAY better at rolling burritos than I am. I even worked at Qdoba, where I rolled ALL the burritos. I guess I’ve lost my touch! Such a bummer.

These have goat cheese, egg, spinach, and beans in them. YUM. They’re not going to be pretty, but they’re going to be delicious!

I did ALL of the laundry, too. Lu didn’t seem to mind that the bed was missing sheets…

I found this at Mama Jean’s. Think it’ll help? ; )

Anyone else like snacking on cereal? I never buy cereal, but this just sounded good! I like having a little bit as a snack.

I’m sad to report that the Marathon Lasagne from Run Fast. Eat Slow. is officially GONE. We finished up the last of it for dinner last night, along with a salad with my homemade dressing.

Real talk time: I used to be CRAZY about counting calories and keeping track of macros. I’m a data nerd, so I get obsessed with numbers and it becomes the only thing I can think about. Because of this, I don’t count calories anymore. Plus, I did it for so long, that I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what a healthy portion looks like. That being said, I think it is important sometimes to check in and make sure you’re getting enough of the right stuff. I should’ve done this last month when my headaches first started (they’re pretty much gone now!), just to see if I was missing out on something, but I didn’t, so oh well! I like to see my macros looking like this! I also totally plan out my entire day’s worth of food in the morning when I’m counting calories. If it changes throughout the day, I’ll edit it, but for the most part, I stick to my plan. I’m a planner (too much of one sometimes), so I like to know what to expect and/or what I’m eating next. I also LOVE food, so I get pretty excited about meals…

I had a little glass of wine after dinner while we watched Bloodline (it’s even included in my calorie count/macros). I feel like I’m started to get a cold, so I’m going to be drinking all the tea, apple cider vinegar, and Emergen-C today!

I’ve mentioned this before, but Jake HATES matching. I like to tease him and try to match occasionally. Well, last night it worked out PERFECTLY because this happened by complete accident. Our evaluation appointments at Health Tracks were right after Jake got off work, so we just met at their facility. We both had sweatshirts on because it was cold, but as we started doing different exercises, we got pretty warm. We took off our sweatshirts and we both had these shirts on. HA! Everyone got a kick out of it, especially me. I think Jake LOVED it. Do you think we made a good first impression? ; )

I guess now we have to match every time we go to workout together, right?

I have a couple of meetings today and then we are going to a launch of a new awesome Altra shoe, the Duo (a max cushion shoe), this evening at Fleet Feet – if you’re in the area, come join us! THIS link should take you to the event via Facebook. These shoes aren’t out yet, so I can’t link you to Altra’s website. I think I’m going to really like these, so I can’t wait to try them out! I run in the Torins right now. I’m going to work on my dissertation in-between meetings and the launch, so nothing too crazy going on over here today!
I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!
