Some songs I’m loving now + my first run with ZERO pain + other random things!

This artist popped up on a random station we were listening to the other night and I LOVE her voice. Her Love You True song is amazing – check it out!

I did some computer work yesterday morning, Lu wasn’t very interested. I wanted to run later in the afternoon, since It was going to be so nice!

It felt AMAZING to be running, with NO pain, in the sunshine!

Shorts weather at the end of January? Yes, please! I should’ve worn a t-shirt…I got kind of hot in that long-sleeved shirt.

I worked on my posture throughout the whole run – I think I’ve been staying too upright, so I worked on leaning forward a little bit more. I think it helped A TON! I didn’t have any pain at all AND I didn’t have any tightness! I even added in some hills! I had a little bit of tightness when I would go downhill, but if I wasn’t coming off this injury, I wouldn’t normally even think anything of that. I posted this on Instagram yesterday, but this was my longest run in two months, and my first run with no pain in over six months. I know I’m not 100% yet, so I’m still going to be careful, but man that felt good!

When one of your besties knows you TOO well! I’m glad I have friends like Katie who keep me grounded – or at least try! ; ) And I have a built in posture coach with Jake, win-win!

After my run, I had lunch. Chicken tenders, mashed sweet potatoes, and a little Kombucha. Mmm.

Lu loves napping in her Dad’s recliner. I think she takes at least one nap here everyday.

Aspen was in her favorite chair, too. They have rough lives! I did have them playing outside for about an hour, so I’m sure that wiped them out a little. They sprint around our yard the whole time they’re playing.

I had some Sriracha lentil chips for a snack in the afternoon – I guess Lu thought she deserved some?

I had two interviews in the early evening, so I knew they would run up pretty close to dinner time – we all know I can’t eat late! So I made our dinner and stuck it in the fridge before I started the interviews, that way all I would have to do was throw it in the oven. I made another recipe from Run Fast. Eat Slow. Holy cow. It was delicious! It’s Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Chicken (p. 129, for those of you with the cookbook). I followed the recipe, the only thing I changed was adding some sun-dried tomatoes that we needed to eat up. You make the stuffing – onion, spinach, feta, and the added tomatoes, then put it in the butterflied chicken, then wrap it all with bacon. Super simple!

Heck yes. I was excited to have these!

I am ready to see some of these numbers start to increase! I love that Strava provides you with so much data – I’m a data nerd, so I really enjoy looking at this kind of stuff.

Then it was time for my two interviews, which I 100% conducted from bed. It was very nice and relaxing. I have 4 participants left to interview, 1 of them only has 1 interview left, and the other 3 are brand new, so they have 3 interviews – then I am finished with data collection! I also rocked my new Altra shirt – it’s super comfortable.

After my interviews, it was time for dinner – the stuffed chicken, a salad, and the most amazing sweet Hawaiian rolls by Sister Schubert. YUM. The chicken recipe was HUGE, so I ate half and will have the other half for lunch today!
Picture

4 By 4 had a new beer, so we went to try it out last night! We sure do love this place!

I have 2 interviews today and a packet pick-up for a race I’m no longer getting to do on Saturday – it is a 20k, but it doesn’t make sense for me to do it. This is the second year in a row I haven’t been able to run it – last year they changed the date because of weather and I couldn’t make the new date work. Oh well! I’m going to go to the Y and do the elliptical and some lifting later today, too. I think I’m doing something relaxing with Kayla and Jyssica this evening, think jammies and food relaxing, so that will be nice! Jake has a 20-miler Saturday morning, so I’m going to join him for the last few miles of that, then I might go to a Body Boom class at Physique. I’d like to spend the day working on my dissertation, then we are going to a game night at the Planks’ house! On Sunday, me, my Mom, my sister, Jake’s Mom, and his sister are going to go shopping for dresses for our wedding! It will be a fun girls’ day.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Okay so we have more in common than I thought and I definitely think I could be a part of your research study. I got my bachelor’s degree online and I plan to go online for my master’s degree. Yes, I would like to get my Master’s in person BUT with my job and the travel I need to do to be with family it’s just not possible. How did you go about choosing the research study for your dissertation (is that what it’s called?)? Has the majority of your PhD program been online?

      Lindsay,
That’s so exciting! I am only studying pre-service teachers, so before they graduate and get a job – I guess I didn’t mention that in my post!
What are you wanting to get your master’s in?
Well, my emphasis is in literacy and technology, and since I’d like to teach full-time some day, preferably online, I thought that would be the best thing to study! My PhD experience has been unusual because I am the only person in my program that isn’t living on campus/near the university. I live 3 hours away. So while I’ve had some online courses, most of them have been seated. I would just Skype into class each week and participate that way! It was nice. I would drive to campus for the first and last class meetings, and the usually once in the middle for presentations!
