Lifting pains + our Valentine’s Day + SUPER pumped to try these!

Breakfast yesterday morning was more crockpot breakfast casserole. I’ve also been on an OJ kick ever since we got that fresh squeezed juice from Lucky’s – it’s just so good! We need more.

After breakfast, I went to the Y and did the elliptical for about 25 minutes – nothing crazy, just wanted to get a little cardio in, then I went to HealthTracks. I broke out my pickle hat for the morning. One of my besties, Katie, loves pickles. I got her this hat for her birthday one year, and as I was checking out, I decided I needed one too so we could match! People always stare at us when we wear them because they can’t figure out what they are.

My lifting calluses have started to come back. My hands have been pretty sore after workouts – that’s how I know I wasn’t strength training enough! Oh, and my body is pretty dang sore, too. I did a ton of squats and deadlifts yesterday and I’m REALLY feeling them today. But NO hammy pain!

Jake and I said no presents this year – we just don’t need anything! He did surprise me with an orchid (because he doesn’t follow rules), which is beautiful. I love flowers but I’m the worst at keeping anything alive…

I picked up a bottle of wine to go with our rabbit and a card, which I got to address to my soon-to-be hubby! <3 Oh, and I obviously had to get the girls some presents – they got beer, cookies, and matching bows. Only the essentials!

Guys, I found this at Lucky’s the other day. I knew it was going to be delicious – and it is! It literally tastes just like a Nutter Butter. Holy yum. I added it to my smoothie yesterday.

Lunch smoothie! Lots of chocolatey-goodness.

Cue the tears – what better way to spend lunchtime on Valentine’s Day than watching the Monica/Chandler proposal? I didn’t even plan it this way, it just happened! Gah, I love them.

I have some of the absolute best girlfriends! Jyss, one of my running buddies, left these goodies on our porch for me. THANK YOU! She obviously knows my love of pineapples. She’s so sweet!

Jake came home early from work to go to a dentist appointment yesterday (with my Daddy), so I got the girls all spiffied up for when he got home. They were excited to show him their bows…

Oh. My. Gosh. I am SO pumped about these!! They tell you all kinds of information about cadence, landing zone, etc. Since I’m a data nerd, I can’t wait to see what they say about my running form. You can read more about them HERE!

I did a little bit of analysis work then it was snack time! Still obsessed with goat cheese…also, these are dark chocolate covered ginger pieces. They are SO good.

One of my favorite shirts.

Jake got back from his dentist appointment and we walked to my surprise – a couples massage!!!
Massage time with my guy.

After our massages, we walked to 4 By 4 – they had a new Valentine’s Day beer. It was delicious! You also got truffles with the beer! We love this place.

My shirt ended up being appropriate! We also got to play with our neighbor’s puppy on the walk home! Win-win!
Then it was home to start on dinner! The girls got to sip on their beer and share a cookie while Jake and I cooked.
While we cooked dinner, we discussed our honeymoon ideas. As of now, we are going to wait and take our honeymoon for our one year anniversary. Since we don’t know when I will graduate, we don’t want to plan too much and be stressed. We had talked about going to Hawaii, which I would absolutely love, but we are definitely going to wait and do our honeymoon for our one year, if the timing works out. Since that’s our plan, we would still like to do a little road trip or something after our wedding, again, that depends on my dissertation – I still have to defend it before a committee and graduate, so there’s a lot up in the air. BUT, we started mapping out a trip along both the East and West coasts, so that would be super fun if the timing works out!
For dinner, we had rabbit, risotto, salad, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was wonderful!

Our Valentine’s Day was perfect! I loved that Jake was off work a little early and we got to spend a lot of the day together. He leaves Friday and will be back Monday, so I’m soaking up as much time with him as I can get!

I’ve got some more analysis to do today – I MIGHT be able to finish up the second round. I meet with my editor again on Monday, so I would really like to have another chapter to give to her…but considering that I’ve only written 6 pages of it, I don’t know if I’ll be able to pull that off. I plan to work all weekend while Jake is gone, so maybe I can get the chapter finished – it should be between 30 and 40 pages total. Wish me luck! I am going to run later and I can’t wait to try out my new Torin IQs – I’ll post all about them tomorrow!

This picture popped up today – wow. One year ago today, I was driving to Columbia (3 hours away) to attend a class for the last time. It’s crazy to think about that. I am getting close!

Glad you had a great Valentines Day! I’m honestly glad/happy to be single. I know everyone talks up the benefits of being in a relationship BUT with everything going on right now I know I couldn’t handle/manage it all and be a good girlfriend at the same time.
So excited to read that you have completed your degree and you’re officially done! Do you know what your next career goal is??
