I got lots of cuddles from the girls. They could tell Jake was getting ready to leave – they both get even cuddlier if one of us is packing.
Friday morning breakfast – more crockpot casserole.
My friend, Katie, sent this to me on Instagram. This is definitely my life. I also sometimes hold up my hands to make Ls to determine left and right. No shame.
2 years ago on Friday Jake asked me to be his Facebook friend! We started dating 2 months after that. <3
Lunch on Friday was a leftover turkey/lamb/zucchini burger, topped with cranberry goat cheese, cauliflower rice, and a Halo.
I had gotten some of these awhile ago, so I mixed one with water and sipped on it Friday afternoon. They’re really good!
Here’s all Jake’s stuff – I can’t imagine carrying that pack. Much less add that he’s carrying it up a mountain….in the winter….
I got cookies for the girls for Valentine’s Day and just haven’t given them this one yet. I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that I’ve almost eaten it a couple of times. It just looks so good!
Dinner of a lazy person who had been working on her computer for 6 straight hours – lots of leftovers! Jake left Friday after work and JUST got home (6 am-ish Monday). He sent me a ton of pictures, so I’ll share them on the blog tomorrow!
I worked on my chapter from noon on Friday until…well, STILL WORKING ON IT! But I got it finished! I’m just adding some details and minor edits right now. PHEW. 30-some pages written. My brain is definitely a little fried, but I’m SO glad I got that knocked out. One more chapter to go!
Friday evening, I worked for about 4 or 5 hours. Each hour, if I needed it, I’d take a 10-minute break and address wedding invitations. Lu made herself a little bed on the pillows.
I also did a face mask while taking a break.
It looked like camo as it was drying.
Aaaand it gave me a mild rash/burn. But it went away quickly, so no biggie.
Our invites. <3 We are getting married in Colorado then having a reception back home in Springfield. We are so excited!
Then it was up early on Saturday to run with Kayla, but it was cold and POURING, so we decided to wait it out a little. I had some cereal with chocolate milk and knocked out about 3 hours of computer work.
Then we got to run! The rain held off until the last 2 or 3 miles of our run – 7 for Kayla and 8 for me. The miles flew by and we had a blast. I had ZERO hammy pain!
Only the front of us got rained on.
I stayed between my 9:15 and 9:30 pace that my coach is wanting right now!
Then Kayla’s boyfriend took us to get donuts! Thanks, Wade, you’re the BEST! Blueberry cake is my FAVORITE.
Kayla called me out on Instagram, but I didn’t even care! They were worth it! ; )
I had half of each of my donuts and some eggs. Because balance.
Then I ate the other half of the blueberry one as soon as I finished this plate. You can’t just leave half a blueberry donut by itself!
I worked from breakfast until lunch. I had some leftover spaghetti squash casserole, which had been in our freezer. I added goat cheese to it, so it was extra delicious.
Then I got back to work and worked until dinner! Nothing sounded good, so I went to grab Qdoba. I used to be OBSESSED with Relient K, so I did some jamming out on my way to get dinner.
I walked into Qdoba looking like this…I saw myself in their window and realized I hadn’t even done anything to my hair since our run in the rain. Hot mess express. I had just been so focused on warming up after our run and working on my chapter.
You know what I love about Qdoba? I can eat on it for two or three meals! This one was two dinners and one lunch. I got a naked chicken and fajita veggie burrito, with chips on the side.
I guess these two were ready for bed? At 5 :30? My parents stopped by after they ate dinner to say hello and give me a break from working. I worked until almost 11 Saturday night – but I got a HUGE chunk of my chapter finished.
I got up around 7 and started working again! My external hard drive has been my lifeline. I save everything important on this bad boy.
I made some eggs and finished of the second donut I had gotten.
I worked until noon, when the Y opened, then I went and ran on a treadmill. It was super windy outside and I just didn’t feel like dealing with the wind. Check out this post-run hair…HA!
I ALWAYS do this. I hate using big carts, so I grab a basket or a small cart and then end up needing the dang big one.
I remembered our reusable bags – thanks Uptown and Bass Pro! : )
Then it was home for a late lunch of Qdoba! Which I also had for dinner, but forgot to take a picture. This weekend was a blur!
Whenever I needed a brain break from my work, I would knock out a little meal prep. I cooked chicken to make chicken salad for lunches this week.
I loved this!
This made me laugh SO hard. I know she’ll hate that I posted it, but when you have such amazingly talented and funny friends, you have to brag on them! Thanks, Buchholz, you’re the BEST!
The finished chicken salad! I used Greek yogurt instead of mayo. It’s delicious!
I also made some egg muffins! Half wrapped in turkey and half wrapped in ham.
How Lu felt about me still working…
I finished the bulk of my chapter. I needed to do some edits and add minor things, but my brain was fried and I couldn’t think straight anymore. So, we had a movie night before bed!
I am SLOWLY building up my weekly miles!
I got up around 5:30 to work and about that time, Jake got home! He went right to bed to nap, so I’m going to knock out some edits and then print this bad boy off so I can give it to my editor later today. SO happy to be almost finished with this. Today is a kind of rest day, so I might go to yoga later –Â we will see!
Happy Monday!

Staying at home with your family sounds a bit ideal. But if you have the budget to go out, then grab the chance while it’s there. I’ve been hearing a lot of great news about staycation with your loved ones- stories saying how satisfied people were while they were at home. This is a good thing because it’s a laid back activity in the first place. Actually, if you’re feeling so stressed right now and you just want to disconnect for a little while, this could be the perfect thing to do. Just prepare your budget, then you’re up!
