This was how Lu watched a movie with me Sunday night.
Here are some of the beautiful pictures from Jake’s climbing trip over the weekend! They camped at tree line, yes, they camped IN THE SNOW! Yikes. They didn’t end up getting to summit the mountain, but they had a blast. They were on La Plata.
They used snowshoes to walk through all the snow Colorado had just gotten.
I still can’t believe they camped in the snow…
How beautiful is this??
Here’s Jake’s dinner!
Guys. Snow camping. I just can’t even imagine.
The tracks from their snowshoes.
This is one of my favorites!
Breakfast Monday morning was two egg muffins and some strawberries. The egg muffins turned out super yummy!
I sat and worked on my computer for a little bit when Jake got home (Monday morning around 6 AM). I checked on him a couple of times and each time I saw this. The girls LOVED that he was home. The guys drove through the night to get back home, so I think they were pretty worn out.
I didn’t get to my camera in time and it’s hard to see, but there were THREE cardinals in the tree by our shop! There are only two in this picture, but I still thought it was cool!
This mid-morning snack was delicious!
I’m obsessed with the chocolate peanut butter we got from Lucky’s. It’s seriously SO good.
Jake woke up from his nap a little before 11 and we headed out for lunch! We went to Neighbor’s Mill and had this deliciousness.
I had a meeting with my editor for my dissertation after lunch and I came home to the neighborhood watch on full alert! If our front door is open, these two sit right here and bark at EVERYTHING.
Jake signed up for another 100-miler in October. Check out that Emergency Contact! <3
We had a sweet potato bar for dinner – we topped our potatoes with chicken, Greek yogurt, goat cheese, onion, and jalapeƱos. Oh, and of course BBQ sauce and Sriracha. BBQ sauce on sweet potatoes is seriously my favorite.
I really love BBQ sauce on sweet potatoes…
I’ve got more computer work – I was thinking I should stop talking about all the computer work I have everyday, but that’s pretty much going to be my life until August (hopefully). The good news is that I only have ONE more chapter to completely write from scratch. I have lots of edits to knock out on Chapters 1, 2, and 3, so I am incredibly thankful I am using an editor! She caught things I overlooked, plus, I used to tell my students this all the time, it ALWAYS helps to have someone else look at your writing. It’s hard sometimes working on my blog and then working on a more academic piece – I often find myself writing like I speak (like on here), and that’s not great for academia. That being said, I am loving this journey and have learned SO much. I want to start looking for jobs, but I need to get some of this other work finished first – I don’t want to have too much on my plate. Applications for jobs at the collegiate level are intense.
I also get to run 3 today! This is a down week for me, so my mileage will be pretty low. I can tell you right now, I know why I was injured. It was my own fault. I ramped up my miles WAY too fast, didn’t have any easy/recovery runs, and I didn’t ever have down weeks. I KNOW how important those things are, but when you’re feeling good and loving your workouts, each run becomes a workout, which isn’t sustainable. I’m trying SO hard to be better this time around – and as much as I don’t love down weeks, I know how important they are. So, I’ll run an easy 3 later on today as a brain break!
Happy Tuesday!
