I cleaned and did some work on the computer yesterday, then took a break once the sun was up and it was warm to run. I took Aspen with me since Lu was gone getting her haircut. I have good news and bad news – the good news ss that my hamstring didn’t hurt at all! The bad news is that my knee really flared up. Ugh. I tired to run about half a mile to see if it just needed to get warmed up, but that was not the case at all, so I walked. It doesn’t hurt at all when I walk or even when I run down hill or up hill – it only hurts when I run on flats. I’m sure it’s related to my hamstring somehow. Aspen and I walked about a mile, then I got super bad cramps (TMI), so we went home.
I REALLY want to run with Kayla Saturday, so I iced and elevated my knee the rest of the day Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Jake came home from work, changed, grabbed dinner, and hit the road. I’m really bummed I’m not with him – especially since he woke up with some kind of sinus infection the other day. I don’t like missing his races, but I really don’t like that he’s going to be racing so hard while sick. I’m sure he will be just fine, but I worry about everything. I’ll fill you in on all his racing fun on Monday!
After he left, Kayla picked me up and we got our nails done, then went to dinner! We wanted Cesar’s the other night, but it was SO busy and we didn’t want to wait. They have the BEST sangria I’ve ever had. We didn’t have to wait long yesterday! The first thing we did was order sangria.

I’ve got quite a bit of work to do today, then I have a phone meeting with my dissertation committee chair to talk about my first chapter – I think we will be talking about each chapter over the next few weeks. Which is good. I’m ready to get this bad boy finished. I should get chapter 4 back from my editor soon, then I’ll be able to pass off the LAST chapter to her – that will feel REALLY good. I’m so close, but there’s still SO much that needs to be done. I’m still hoping to graduate this summer and walk in December. If you graduate in the summer, you can walk in May, but I do not want to walk until I am 100% finished. I just can’t. So they said I could wait until December.
We also have packet pick-up tonight for our 15k in the morning. So far, my knee feels fine. I’m icing as I type this. Fingers crossed. If it hurts during the race, I will DNF, which really sucks. I’m supposed to be pacing Kayla – not that she needs my help, she’s going to do amazing regardless. But I really want to be able to run with her. After packet pick-up, we are grabbing dinner, then going to bed early!
Our race is Saturday morning, then there’s a beer fest afterwards, so I think we will go to that for a little bit. Some of my family from Iowa is in town, so I have dinner plans with them Saturday night. I can’t wait to see them! I plan to spend most of Sunday meal prepping and cleaning, at least until Jake gets home!
I am so sorry Chelsea! I was struggling with some hamstring issues earlier this week. I scheduled a massage for today and we think my back is causing some sciatica issues. 🙁 So she cupped my back and lets just say I have HUGE bruises on my back. Hoping that I have improvement by Sunday … in the meantime I spin. LOL!
