Weekend Wrap-up!
I’ve been battling a sinus infection since the middle of last week. This weekend was pretty miserable, but I think I’m finally starting to mend! I haven’t been sick in a long time. When I was a classroom teacher, I felt like I was constantly sick – I think I caught every single thing that my kiddos had. I’m glad that’s not happening any more!
Friday morning, I had some last minute plan changes. My editor called me saying she was having some back pain, so in order to save her from driving almost 90 minutes to come meet me, I hopped in the car and headed to her house. When I got there, I got the grand tour. It is BEAUTIFUL. After the tour, we set up camp in her office. How beautiful is this??
I loved her pen storage. Everything was just so pretty and unique. I asked her when I could move in.
About an hour and a half into our work, we took a break to make coffee. She came back downstairs with a snack! Isn’t she the best? If you ever need an editor, seriously, let me know. She’s incredible. She’d probably work with you from a distance, too, so you don’t have to live in this area.
After almost 3 hours of work (I read my dissertation aloud and we changed anything that we didn’t like and/or needed clarification), we were almost through the first 3 chapters. It was super helpful! After finishing up with her, I headed to Fleet Feet to help with the Go Girl packet pick-up. I hadn’t eaten lunch, so I grabbed a smoothie from Mama Jean’s. When I got to packet pick-up, they said they had been super slow and let me go home. While I was bummed to not work registration (it’s one of my favorites), I was thankful I could go home and rest. After working all morning, I was feeling pretty crummy. Jake was still out working on course set-up, but he told me to drink one of these Skratch rescue hydration mixes. They’re delicious!
I had planned on just grabbing dinner from somewhere, but nothing sounded good. Then I remembered I had shrimp that needed to be cooked. I cooked that and some cauliflower rice, put it on top of quinoa, and called it dinner. Then I spent the rest of the evening on the couch. It was amazing.
I snacked on some popcorn while watching Netflix.
I was hopeful that after resting most of the evening, I’d feel better and want to get up and run in the AM before going to the Go Girl race site to help out. I needed to be downtown by 5 am, so I would have needed to get up around 2:30 to get my run in. When my alarm went off, I still felt terrible, so I turned it off and slept until 4. I think that was the right choice! As much as I hated not running, my body needed to heal.
Ladies, does your pony always fall over to the same side? Mine ALWAYS does. When my hair is straight, it especially doesn’t stay in place as well as it does when it’s curly. I sleep with a stint every night. It’s clear, so you can’t really see it. I did Invisalign a few years ago, so I sleep with this to keep everything in place. I had braces for EIGHT years when I was younger, so after that, I’m not going to let my teeth move! (My Dad is a dentist, so I started braces in first grade….)
This popped up on my Timehop the other day…I am getting SO close!
Up early and ready to help with Go Girl! It was SO dang cold. I was feeling a little better, but I think sitting out in the cold and wind all morning didn’t help.
Kayla was running the 5k! She had never raced a 5k before, so she was excited. We go to Nashville for her first half in less than two weeks!
Heck. Yes!!! I am so proud of her!! She actually ended up getting 3rd overall! BOOM. Her sheet is hard to read, but she got 2nd in her division!!!!
I took a million pictures – here are two of them! You go, girl!!
After Kayla ran and we helped with results, we went to breakfast. I told Kayla I was going home to nap, but she asked if I wanted to eat first. I never turn down food, so we grabbed a quick breakfast at Early Bird. Complete with mimosas, of course. I was hoping the vitamin C would heal me. Plus, champagne makes everything better.
I got the Robin, which is my favorite thing on their menu. If you like Eggs Benedict, you’ll love this!
After breakfast, I slept for almost 2 hours! It was amazing. About the time I was getting up, Jake got home. He had been working on the course since 3AM. He crawled into bed for a nap. Can you tell the girls missed him?
For dinner, we met our friends Trevor and Jordan at Galloway. I had a burger and a side salad. As always, it was the best.
After dinner, we met some friends at Creekside to listen to Shaun Munday. Look at this pretty girl who PR’d her 5k!
Shaun Munday is SO talented. We had a blast listening to him.
Told you she doesn’t like pictures…look at that sass.
Sunday morning, Jordan and I headed to Wilson’s Creek to run. Wilson’s Creek is a 5-mile killer loop. It has SO many hills. We thought about maybe doing 10 miles, but after about a mile and a half, we decided that 5 miles was enough…it was also snowing and crazy windy.
After our run, my watch told me that I was “Peaking”…after how hard that run was, I don’t know where my watch comes up with these things…
After I dropped Jordan off, I swung by Lucky’s to get groceries for the week. I also hit up the salad bar while I was there and grabbed a container of all the amazing stuff they had. YUM.
Then it was home to meal prep super quick. Jake’s lunches literally took me 20 minutes to make. He’s having steak bowls with quinoa, lentils, corn, black beans, tomatoes, and steak. Super simple and super fast. After I cooked this, I crawled into bed for another nap. I’m determined to beat this sinus infection!
For dinner, we headed to Jake’s Dad’s house. Jake picked a bunch of Morel mushrooms, so we took them with us to dinner. John, Jake’s Dad, crushed up a bunch of crackers for us to use as breading. They were INCREDIBLE.
John and Cynthia know that we love spicy…
Check out this deliciousness. It was SO yummy. Cynthia made the most delicious fish for fish tacos. I ate so many chips, so I skipped a tortilla, but everything was so good.
I plan on watching Boston today, going on a run, and working on some more edits. That’s about it! I’m feeling about the same today as I did yesterday, so I’m still going to take it easy.
Hi Chelsea!
I don’t know if something was changed on your end with your blog site or if it was something on my end, but for a few months I could no longer read your blog on my work PC, it wouldn’t load right and I couldn’t comment. Today I decided to try again, for the millionth time, and it seems to be back to working! So excited! I’ve been reading daily on my Bloglovin app but I’m excited to be able to comment again. Hope you have a great day and feel better!
