Wednesday morning started out with a little sleeping in, a little computer work, and a run in the sunshine! I had a t-shirt on, but I let the girls out to go potty and got chilled, so I changed into a long-sleeved shirt. That was 100% the wrong decision. I was SO hot after half a mile. I got 4 miles in total.

After my run I ate a super quick breakfast then picked Cassie up for our girls’ day. I’m telling ya, nutritional yeast on veggies is amazing.

I failed to get a picture of the whole pump (Jake was bummed), but we got gas yesterday at a gas station that used one of the oldest pumps I’ve ever seen! I had to turn a lever to start pumping the gas. It was crazy!

Cassie and I headed to Stockton State Park to do a little mountain biking! She had been before, but yesterday was my first time. We chowed down on some Skratch bars before we started our ride. I was nervous. I’m a super cautious person, so the idea of riding my bike on trail was terrifying. Especially considering I had been falling off my bike every time I got onto it until recently…

We were ready! I told Cassie to ride ahead of me, just so I could go at my own pace and not have anyone watch me. I learn best that way. I just need to do something first to learn it. After I’m comfortable with it, then I can work on certain things. Jake is a huge mountain biker – he was semi-pro in Arkansas, so he’s crazy talented. I think I want to ride with Cassie a few times before I attempt to ride with Jake…

Isn’t my bike pretty? I love it.

Here’s our ride. We did 8 miles and it was tough, but I liked it! I think I held onto my breaks for most of the ride, but I did it! I even got a QOM on Strava! Technically, Cassie beat me, but she didn’t record the ride, so I’m going to pretend that I really got it. ; )

We had a couple beers waiting for us when we finished. They were so refreshing.

I’m glad I got my first time out of the way…I’m ready to go again! Well, once my butt stops hurting. Bikes hurt!

I rocked my Team Trail Sisters shirt while we rode.

Cheers to not falling off! I semi fell once, but I caught myself, so we are going to say I didn’t fall. I think that’s okay…

We got back into town around 3:30 and were both starving, so we grabbed a quick snack at El Maguey.

I met Jake at home and we knocked out some errands around town for our wedding, then we hit up a new brewery in town. It’s called Tie and Timber. It’s pretty cool! I, of course, got a flight so I could sample a bunch of different beers. The porter is my favorite so far! It’s called the Kokomo Porter.

We hadn’t eaten dinner yet (I also had such a late lunch), so we grabbed something while we were out. Tea Bar and Bites, an adorable little restaurant downtown, delivers to Tie and Timber! It was perfect. We called in what we wanted and they brought it over literally 10 minutes later. I had half a Reuben and their roasted chickpeas, which were incredible. Jake had sliders and potato salad, which were also amazing.

I got lots of Aspey (my nickname for Aspen) cuddles when we got home.

This popped up on Timehop and made me laugh! Doesn’t Jake look like a surfer dude? This was taken right after we started dating. Yes, that is my hair on his head…

It was HARD to get out of bed this morning. So. Hard. But we met Kayla to do a workout run, so I made myself get up. I realized I have run every day since Sunday…my body is VERY ready for a rest day tomorrow!
I love this Altra buff – it’s perfect as a headband or a buff around your face.

I have a phone meeting later this afternoon with the head of my committee. She has been reading through the first 3 chapters of my dissertation, so I know I’m going to have some edits to work on when I get them back from her. I’m going to try and knock out everything else on my to-do list today so I can focus on those edits tomorrow and this weekend. We are also doing dinner with Jake’s parents tonight before they leave for their anniversary trip! We can’t wait to see them.
Happy Friday Eve!
Yay for Friday rest days! I am in the market for a road bike BUT I know NOTHING about bikes so I am a little hesitant to buy one. Do you think you could get Jake to write a guest post on bikes and bikes brands that he recommends?
