This gave me a pretty good laugh! I got to spend a couple of hours at the pool yesterday with my Mom for her birthday, just like I did 4 years ago.
BUT, before the pool, I headed out for a little run rocking my GRL PWR tank.
I usually run from our house, since we live right by trail, but I was feeling like something different yesterday, so I headed to the Y. I ran an old route I used to run in high school for cross country. This hill was brutal then and it still is…you can’t really tell in this picture…
This hurt to rip out of my hair at the end of my 7-miler. This happens a lot with my headphones. I even had my hair in a braid!
All. The. Water. It was humid yesterday!
I had another delicious breakfast burrito afterwards.
So, super exciting news – my baby sister, Piper, just got engaged!!!!! We are SO excited!! Her fiancé, Tyler, is the best! Welcome to the family, Tyler! <3 We were going to dinner later to celebrate my Mom’s birthday, so I threw together a little something fun for Piper and Tyler. This sign was in their goody bag! This sign speaks to me – I annoy Jake ALL the time.
I LOVE presents! I got my Momma some really cute journals, a decorative sign that matches her decor in their basement, and some dish towels with wine glasses on them that say, “My Doctor Said I Need Glasses”. HA!
Ready for some smoothie drama??? UGH. This dang Magic Bullet ain’t gonna work…I only got half of my smoothie because I couldn’t get the dang thing open!!! I tried to break the suction with a butterknife. That was dumb. I cut myself. But I was desperate! I just put the dang other half in the fridge and sulked about it…
I took my half smoothie and piece of Ginger-Molasses bread to the pool with me.
I loved getting to spend time with these two beauties! My Momma, on the right, and Elaine, my godmother (I call her my Fairy Godmother), on the left. I spent two glorious hours at the pool with them! It was amazing.
I ate all of our hummus, so I had a rice cake with dairy-free cheese, Sriracha, and some dried mango.
Jake saved the day!! He came home, easily opened the stupid Magic Bullet thing, and handed it to me. This smoothie is definitely better when both halves are mixed together…
We had dinner last night to celebrate my Momma’s birthday. Jake is on call all week, and we were watching the radar since it looked like it was going to storm. I felt like I jinxed his chances of going to dinner with us with this text…
For new readers, Jake is a Journeyman Lineman, so he works on power lines. When he’s on call, he has to be able to get to his office within 20 minutes. He worked from 3:30AM Tuesday morning until about 3:30PM Tuesday afternoon, came home, then got called back to work about 4:15PM Tuesday. He didn’t get home until about 3AM this morning. And he had to be at work at his usual time of 7AM. Poor guy. I don’t know how he does it. He’s running on about 3 hours of sleep.
I wore the shoes from our reception to dinner last night. We have been married for one month, so it seemed fitting! I am also obsessed with LipSense. I know I’m a little late to the game, but I love it!
I got some puppy cuddles before my parents picked me up.
My sister cracks me up…when we got to dinner, I asked her why she sent me a welder. She started laughing and said she thought it was the emoji flipping her hair. Hahahaha! Never a dull moment with my family.
I’m sad the lighting isn’t great here, but I made them open their present after we ordered. I REALLY love presents. So happy for these two! <3
We ate at Flame, which is a steakhouse downtown. They have the best rolls, muffins, and french fries! I’m not usually a big fry fan, but dang, these were good!
I’m not eating beef, chicken, or pork this week, so I decided to get the tuna. It was delicious. It came with lyonnaise potatoes, which were also outstanding.
Carmelicious couldn’t believe how huge this crab leg was. (I’ve called my Mom Carmelicious since I was about 17 or 18…she LOVES it. ; ) Her name is Carmen.) For any Fergie fans out there, it’s like Fergalicious, but with my Mom’s name.
This was Tyler’s meal. How amazing does that look?? Salmon topped with crab meat and jalapeño, cheddar, and bacon mashed potatoes.
The beautiful birthday girl!
My Mom’s birthday dessert was DELICIOUS. Thank you, Flame!!
We had a blast at dinner, just missing my handsome guy, who was still out working!
I’m working on edits ALL day today. I’m hoping to finish Chapter 4 edits today and tomorrow. Fingers crossed! I will do a little lifting later today and maybe go on a bike ride or get some time in on the elliptical. I’ll just see how my day goes!
Happy Wednesday, friends!

You are too cute…so much fun and I’m blessed to be your Fsiry God Mother. I believe the best days are yet to come. You are an inspiration because you are making time to enjoy each one and keep a record of them. What a super fun way to journal!
