Better! + a trip to the vet + I fixed my chafing issue…for now!

Thursday started with a nice little 4 miles.

It was a little toasty out.

Remember how I was having some chafing? This helps! I can’t take the credit for this, though – Jake came up with it. A little bit of KT Tape on the spot where my heart rate monitor was rubbing me. This helped SO much. Jake is a genius.

When I got home from my run, I made smoothies for breakfast.

I worked for a little bit, then needed a snack. I am officially out of rice cakes. Send reinforcements.

So, Aspen REALLY hates the vet. Like, super hates it. She shakes and cries the whole time we are there. She also hides behind me. In this picture she’s literally on the bench, with the back half of her body shoved behind me and the wall. Good news – she’s okay! The vet thinks she has just tweaked her neck/back. She has some pain medicine to take for two weeks, then we will see how she does.

After the vet, I had lunch, which was more leftovers. I’m already thinking about what to have next week…maybe something with fish. I’ve been getting super hungry throughout the day, so I think I need  more protein at lunch. This meal is all veggies.

I got some cuddles with this little one. She was not happy when I took Aspen with me and left her at home.
Picture

I worked more, then needed another snack. Leftover coleslaw and cherries.
Picture
Has anyone else stress eaten coleslaw? I have.

Then this happened….we had gotten these for the lake, so I finished off the little bit that was left in the bag. Chips are my number one weakness. I just love them. So much.

The best mail day!!!!! This cookie mix is the BEST. Ever. You can make it into cookies or bars and can add any mix-in that you want. I need to make some. ASAP.

Look at all this beautiful goodness. We are ready for some training!

So, I love this dress from Rab. It’s super comfy. But it flares out really far at the bottom. Isn’t that weird? It’s kind of hard to tell in this picture, but trust me. It flares out.

Remember that salmon in a puff pastry that I made Monday? When I used the wrong flour? It still turned out DELICIOUS, but I wanted to make it again using the right stuff, so I made it last night. Honestly, we didn’t like one way over the other – they were both good. The recipe came out of the Feed Zone Cookbook by Skratch. It’s HERE. So many awesome things in there. This meal is one of my favorites.

Jake talked me into FINALLY leaving the house and doing something fun. I got a TON of work finished yesterday, so I agreed! We went to Mother’s to listen to Shaun Munday play. His voice is incredible.

One of my favorite beers, Trop Top, is made by Mother’s, so I sipped on one while we were there. My legs and feet were all swollen about halfway through the beer. But it was worth it! I’m going to do a food sensitivity test, just because I have been reacting strangely to a couple of things lately. Peanut butter is one of them…not okay. I love PB. So, I’d like to see what my food sensitivities are.

He deserves an award for putting up with me through this dissertation!
Picture

It was nice to get out and have a little fun, especially after getting so much accomplished yesterday. I WILL survive this dang dissertation!

Jordan came with us, too! It was so fun to spend some time with her. I’ve missed her!

On the To-Do list for today: finalize the LAST round of edits on Chapters 1 and 2. I am putting my foot down and not doing anything else to these chapters after I submit them again. Enough is enough! Edits sucks. Then I’d like to get started finalizing some things on Chapter 3. I have a meeting today with the head of my committee, so we will go over a couple of these things. She is super hard on herself and told me that she’s never happy with her own writing – she said the day after she graduated with her PhD, she pulled out her dissertation and starting marking it up with revisions. I laughed and told her that will NOT be me. I am SO OVER reading through my work. She said that was probably a healthier mindset, HA! So, that’s who I’m working with right now. I appreciate her help, but at some point, you have to step away!

Jake and I have date night tonight! I think we are getting sushi. Any recommendations?

The rest of the weekend will be crazy busy – my sister decided to get married Saturday, so we have been getting ready for that, then I have a baby shower for a girlfriend to go to on Sunday. Lots going on!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Friday, friends!

So I’ve been reading your blog since almost the beginning…April or May of last year…and I’ve always been curious…. what does Jake’s leg tattoos say?! I think one says something about a race?

    • Chelsea

      Hi, Alyssa!
Everyone always asks this! One leg says “Be a racer for a day”, and the other says, “not a spectator for life.” He loves the saying, but wishes he would have gotten them placed somewhere else.
I hope you have a great day!!

I have been wondering about the tattoo as well… but hadn’t been sure if it was okay to ask because it was about Jake and not you. lol!
On the Jake subject … any updates on his teeth? I just went to the dentist the other day (enter panic attack) and it made me think of Jake and the work he had done.
