Whiskey love + hard runs + my Mug Day!

One of our favorite things is to try new whiskies. Jake had to work Wednesday night, so I decided I needed a little glass of whiskey. I just couldn’t decide which one I wanted! I ended up going with the Maker’s. It’s SO good.

Jammies, whiskey, and a rain storm. Yes, please.

I stayed up until 10-ish, which is late for me, and Jake got home about midnight. We both slept in until about 6, then I got him off to work before heading out for my run. I almost put my run off because my body was feeling tired, but I know I’m going to feel tired during my marathon, so I decided to use yesterday as a test. It was a beautiful morning, so I was excited for a little run. I had a 3 mile warm-up, 4x a mile at my half-marathon pace, which is 8:15 right now, and a mile cool-down.
Picture

My warm-up went well and so did the first two miles of my workouts. But holy cow, the last two were WAY harder than they should’ve been. It took every ounce of strength I had to not stop and walk. I’m taking that hard run and putting it in my marathon bank. I like to use my challenging runs as proof that I can suck it up and do it. As much as I don’t love them, the challenging runs help me grow the most. Yesterday was one of those runs. I think that’s true in life, though, too. We learn and grow the most from the hard things we go through.

I’ve never been so happy to see this water fountain. I stopped and chugged water halfway through my cool-down. I always make the mistake of drinking too much. I was notorious for doing this during basketball practice in high school. Water would always slosh around in my stomach after water breaks. Luckily, I only had a half mile to go and it was a cool-down.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen my average heart rate that high. It made me feel better to see this because I really felt like I struggled. At least I know it wasn’t just in my head! I ended with 8 miles at an 8:32 pace. I hit the 4 workout miles at 8:11, 8:10. 8:03, and 8:06. The last two were definitely faster than I should’ve done, so that’s my own fault. I’m not sure why this workout was so hard for me, but I am looking forward to an off day today!

My watch is mad at me. It told me to take 5 days to recover…I wonder how accurate that kind of stuff is.

My headphones are ALWAYS getting caught in my braid.

I did some striders in the backyard with Lu at a super easy pace before I stretched.

It felt so good to sit down.

This girl had a blast getting filthy in the wet grass. Eye-roll. We definitely were missing Aspen extra hard yesterday.

Smoothie time!

YUMMMM.

I saw this on Instagram and loved it. I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but hell yeah to this Mom!

Coffee, dark chocolate chips, and The Office before I started working – yes, please!

Welp, I was too hungry yesterday to take a picture before I chowed down. Not pictured are the tofu and veggies that I scarfed down. Workout runs make me SO hungry! I also made this salad again. I’m obsessed.

I was reminiscing about our wedding yesterday. So glad he picked me. <3

My new favorite protein powder. I love this stuff!
Picture

I needed a protein mug cake. To make this: one egg, vanilla extract (maybe 1/2T), one scoop of protein powder, chocolate chips, and cashew milk (1/4C). Mmm. Topped with chocolate PB2 and more chocolate chips. I was stuffed after this…it took me awhile to finish it.

But dang, it was delicious.

My meeting got moved to today, so I got some puppy cuddles before we left for dinner.

It had been raining off and on yesterday, so I packed my rain coat. I love that it packs up into this tiny carrying case and fits anywhere. I have THIS Rab rain jacket and absolutely love it. I’ve worn it on morning runs in the rain, too, and it’s so lightweight. I’m wearing the jacket at the end of THIS post.

We headed to Springfield Brew Co for my Mug Day! How cool is this?! Every Mug Club member gets a day to celebrate their membership with $1 mugs! I got the Walnut Street Wheat, which is one of my favorites. I can’t remember what the record is for drinking mugs on someone’s Mug Day, but it was a lot! I only had one mug, but it was delicious.

The lighting is awful, but I was excited!

I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Salmon for dinner and it was outstanding. Also, if you like baked potatoes, put BBQ on them. SO. GOOD.

I’ve got some errands to run before my meeting today, then I’m getting a massage!!! My Mom gave me my birthday present early (my birthday is in September) and she got me a massage. I am SO pumped. Massages are one of my favorite things. I was going to wait to book it until my actual birthday, but we all know I have no patience…

We don’t have huge plans for the weekend (which I love). Jake is on call, so we will stay pretty close to the house. Maybe we will start on some remodeling! We are going to paint most of our house and replace some flooring, so we have some big projects ahead of us. We are hoping to spend most of the winter knocking out some of the work. I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Happy Friday, friends!
