I didn’t have a run on Friday, so I slept in a little. When I woke up, I was craving waffles and sausage, so I went to the store to see what I could find. I had blueberry waffles, a veggie sausage patty, and scrambled eggs with veggies. It was delicious.

I needed to run a couple of errands and I got stuck behind this guy. This is a major pet peeve of mine. If you’re going to haul gravel (or something similar) COVER IT UP. This dude had rocks flying everywhere. They have those dang covers on all of these trucks. It blows my mind that they don’t use them. Grrr. I was mad. If anyone knows a legit reason why they don’t use those covers, please let me know. I will still be mad, but at least I’ll know.

I finally got a plant for our front porch – I love it! Now let’s see if I can keep it alive…

Lu likes to knock pillows off of beds, but she loves them on the couch.

I’m obsessed with tofu in the AirFryer. It’s SO good. Soy came back as being one of my food triggers, but it doesn’t seem like tofu really bothers me. We will see! I had some veggies and the rest of my potato from Brew Co Thursday night.

We got all the things in the mail on Friday…

YES! Jake and I are ambassadors for Ames Adventure Outfitters and one of the companies we rep is Altra (which is all Jake and I run in). Check out our haul! I can’t wait to break these bad boys in.

I had a meeting Friday that went REALLY well. I might just finish this dissertation! ; ) Then I headed off to get a massage that my Mom had given me as an early birthday present. Thanks, Momma I stopped by the liquor store afterwards to get some things and they sent me home with this huge box with all the stuff I had gotten…

Jake got called into work right as I was finishing up dinner – we had swordfish steaks and stuffed mushrooms. I sent him with some mushrooms, but he had the rest of his dinner when he got home. I love these Truly drinks – anyone else a fan?

I felt like baking something, so I made some Skratch bars. We LOVE these. You can make them into cookies or bars and can add whatever mix-in you would like! I just added dark chocolate chips with these.

They are delicious. We each had one while we watched some Gilmore Girls.

This little cuddle bug wanted a Skratch bar, too.

Saturday morning we both had long runs – Jake had 24 and I had 12. He left before I did. I wanted to wait until the sun came up. I’ve been having trouble getting motivated to run when it’s dark out. I don’t know what my deal is because I usually love it! Anyway, I got ready and hit the road. I always have this chapstick with me. I can’t function without it.

My run was HARD. I had a 60 minute warm-up, 8x 2 minutes at 7:45 and 2 minutes at 8:10, then a 20 minute cool-down. Those 8 in the middle were brutal. I had to take a short break after my first four and then another little break in-between the last four. My body was definitely worn out from the week. I sent this text to Jake during my cool-down because I knew he would be finishing up his own run. He called me immediately and asked where I was. He came and met me and we ran in together. <3

He crushed his 24 miles and I survived my 12. Woof.

I hit the paces I needed, except for the 17th lap (you can see the 17 at the bottom and the color is light blue). This workout definitely tested me!

We had recovery shakes and breakfast burritos when we got home.

Jake took an ice bath (he’s crazy) and then I took an Epsom salt bath. I filled the tub a little too high…

We grabbed sandwiches and chips from Mama Jean’s for lunch.

I went to get chapstick out of my purse and found all three of these…do I have a problem?

The rest of Saturday afternoon looked like this…I slept for a little over an hour, too. We were worn out!

We decided to get Mexican for dinner. I sipped on another new Truly flavor – this one isn’t my favorite, but it isn’t awful. It’s just a little sweeter than the others. It’s Blueberry and Acai.

We went to Great American Taco and their skinny margaritas were on special! They were SO good. I had two…

I got my favorite meal – the Hawaiian Tuna on half an avocado.

Ouch. I had some chaffing around my armpit during my long run. It burned all day.

We watched some Gilmore Girls and I got hungry again. I was craving popcorn, but knew we didn’t have any. Then I remembered that my Mom had given us some microwave popcorn awhile ago! It was good.

Lu was ready for bed.

We slept in on Sunday, which was so nice. Then we sat outside drinking coffee. Lulu insisted on sitting on the armchair of my chair.

It was too bright for pictures.

So, I’m mean. Jake doesn’t like surprises or presents (he’s weird). My favorite thing is giving presents! I tend to go a little overboard. Well, just to annoy Jake, I wrapped his presents and have had them sitting out since Saturday morning. He LOVES it. ; ) His birthday is Tuesday, so he can open them then! Maybe…

Jake needed 10 miles on Sunday, so I rode my bike while he ran. I wore my new Escalantes for the first time and I love them! I love black soles on shoes. I’m so glad Altra made these.

I also wore my Club Ride chamois. My butt gets SO sore when I ride my bike. I know I don’t ride enough.

I don’t know how he runs in the heat. It was HOT yesterday.

We had leftovers for lunch. I topped my salad with the leftover AirFryer tofu.

We had dinner plans at Jake’s Dad’s house for Jake’s birthday, but Jake got called into work about an hour and a half before we were supposed to head over there. I knocked out meal prep real quick while he was at work, then he called to say he would be at dinner in 30 minutes, so I headed over there to meet him. Jake walked in the door and was at their house for about 10 minutes before he got called back into work. We felt so bad for him. We enjoyed his birthday while he was out working. Jake’s Dad made his famous BBQ chicken, and we had sweet potatoes and veggies. I took a salmon filet over to grill, but the BBQ chicken looked amazing. Everything tasted SO good.

Cynthia made strawberry shortcake for dessert. It delicious. Jake called us and said he was headed back over as we were finishing dessert, so he got to enjoy his birthday dinner, too.

We wore our new Escalantes all day yesterday. They’re awesome.

Lu got one pillow knocked over before I stopped her. She hates throw pillows.
