A funny mix-up + super fun run + ALL the exciting things!

I could not get out of bed yesterday. I slept in until 6:30 and then forced myself to get up. I haven’t been running at my normal time of 5AM lately. I’m not sure what my deal is, but I need to figure it out! I miss my early mornings. I wanted to have a smoothie for dinner, so I cooked some eggs, a veggie sausage patty, and a piece of toast for breakfast after Jake left for work.

I had to get the oil changed in my car, so I headed out to do that. I work best in the mornings, so I packed up all my stuff and took it with me. I was supposed to only teach 3 online college courses this fall, but UMSL, one of the universities, contacted me yesterday and asked if I could teach a 4th. Things are going to be crazy! Classes start Monday, so I’m rushing trying to get this last course put together.

Funny story: one of the guys at the car place came to get me after about 30 minutes. I was stoked. I hate waiting for oil changes. He told me I was all finished and walked me out to my car while we chatted. He showed me to my car and told me to have a good day. He turned to walk away and I was like, um…this isn’t my car…

Eye-roll. Long story short, they mixed up my car and another one just like it. I had a pretty good laugh about it. Soooo, I went back in and waited for another 30 minutes. I decided to have half of a bagel because I was going to run after and I was getting hungry.

After I got the correct car back, I headed to the Y. I drank my BCAAs on the way because I had an 8 mile workout, so I needed some extra energy. Picture
I listened to an old playlist from a few years ago. There were a lot of goodies on it that I had forgotten about!

My run went really well! I felt amazing the whole time. I think my body needed the unscheduled rest day that I took on Tuesday. My run looked like this: 2 mile warm-up, 4 at HMP (8:05-8:15), and 2 mile cool-down. I finished with 8 miles at 8:27. I had this notification on my watch. I haven’t seen this one before.

Here’s what my workout looked like!

When I got home, Lu didn’t come out to greet me, so I immediately panicked. I looked all over the house for her and eventually made my way to her kennel. She was passed out in there. As soon as she saw me, she crawled out and did this in my lap.

Lunch was salmon, veggies, and fiesta lime crackers from Back to Nature.

And dessert…my favorite chocolate chips.

My LAST round of edits for Chapter 3!!! Two more chapters to go, friends…I’m getting there! Just a few more months.

About 6 hours after my run I realized I hadn’t done anything to my hair other than take my hat off…glamorous.

My work buddy.

Snacks on snacks. Cherries and a protein muffin with PB2.

I took an Epsom salt bath, but the water was way too hot. I had to lay down on the bed in my towel to cool off afterward. Lu decided it was a good time to cuddle. But only with her tush. I’ll take what I can get.

Anyone else ever make a bath way too hot? I’m guilty…

Jake had some friends over for a little bit last night, so I made myself a smoothie and knocked out a TON of work. I got lots and lots of things finished, so I was pretty happy about that! Also, this smoothie was delicious.

I just finished writing out my marathon training plan! I was writing month by month, just to see how it felt, but things are going well, so I went ahead and wrote out the remaining 11 weeks. It’s all in pencil, so things could change, but at least I have an idea of what I’d like to do. I didn’t start officially training until July, but I spent some time working up to my plan in May and June.

This made me so excited. I’m on week 9 of my 20 week training plan. I have a couple of big weeks coming up, so I’m excited to see how my legs handle it. My race is the first weekend of November, on the 4th.

After my smoothie dinner, I snacked on plantain chips. These are some of my favorites.

I’ve been tracking macros, just to see where I’m hitting. This is where I ended up yesterday. I ate a TON of food. More than I usually do. I was just hungry! I still stayed close to my goals.

Look what I get to do!!!! You can read more about it HERE. For my birthday, which is next month, Jake got me a trail running retreat weekend! The actual weekend isn’t until May, but I am already SO excited. I’m also on Team Trail Sisters, so this is double special. This retreat is right after our anniversary, so I’m hoping we can go to Colorado early to celebrate. Fingers crossed.

Another exciting thing – today is my baby sister’s birthday!! Happy Birthday, Piper!!! I’m so proud of you and I feel lucky to be your big sister. Your compassion and love for others is inspiring. Love you, Poopsey Pie! Enjoy your day!

Happy Friday Eve, friends!

WOW! I have NEVER EVER EVER gotten my heart rate that high. Can I ask what your resting heart rate is? Do you have a normally higher heart rate? You may want to consider using the test on your watch to do a threshold test. For example when I am running in the 7:30s I am usually in the high 130s -148 bpm and if I push it down into the low 7s high 6s I can sometimes get my HR into the 160s. I do have a rest HR of 35 so that might effect it but maybe a discussion surrounding HRs might be interesting for the blog?!?!
