I was looking through pictures to find some to post for my sister’s birthday yesterday and came across this. I sure miss this girl. Even when they would follow me everywhere and I never got a single second of alone time. (TMI – I’m peeing here). I’m so thankful I had the whole last year to be home with these two. I wouldn’t trade that time for anything.
A good ole breakfast burrito was on the menu for breakfast yesterday. Complete with eggs, onion, spinach, and a veggie sausage patty. All topped with dairy-free cheese and Sriracha. Mm.
I had a lash appointment yesterday (my guilty pleasure). I always love hanging out in the relaxation room. I wore my new Altra Paradigms. They’re SO comfortable. I ran in them for the first time this morning (Friday) and man, they’re amazing. Also, how cute is this color?
Cue the tears. Well, friends, after 11 years of college (undergrad, master’s, and PhD), I have registered for my LAST semester. EVER. I’m not taking a class – I just have to register (and pay…of course) for dissertation hours, but it’s over!!! I never have to register again. Unless something goes terribly, terribly wrong…but I’m thinking positively! I counted it up – between fall, spring, and summer semesters, I have registered for classes 32 times. WOOF.
Cue the tears again. Our vet called and said Aspen’s remains were ready for us to pick up. They sent her home to us in a beautiful wooden box.
I love this. I’m adding it to the shadow box I made Jake.
Lu smelled the paw print and then laid under our coffee table for two hours. I don’t know if she could smell Aspen on it or what, but she refused to come out. It broke my heart a little.
Lunch was more salmon sausage from Lucky’s and some leftover veggies.
I never drink soda – it’s just too sweet for me, but I wanted to try this. It’s still too sweet, but I dilute it with water and really like it! I need to cut back on how much coffee I drink…I just LOVE coffee. SO. MUCH.
We got some work done yesterday afternoon.
I took a break to workout and worked on some balance stuff. Single leg deadlifts are hard. After this training cycle, I want to hire a legit coach. One that can work with me on running, lifting, and nutrition. Does that even exist??
Lots of pink. I was still loving my new shoes.
After my workout, I took Lu for a short walk. She loves being outside. We need to take her a trail run soon. She can’t run as far as Aspen could, but she can knock out a couple of miles. It’s impressive considering she’s a little dog.
Another snack of yogurt and collagen.
Thank you, Banza!!! Huge shout-out to them for sending me some goodies! I cannot wait to try these! If you haven’t tried this pasta, I highly recommend it. You can order it online or if you’re in Springfield, Lucky’s sells it! Mmm.
Jake had an event to go to last night. I had planned to go with him, but then got caught up in work. I made a smoothie for myself for dinner. I made extra so Jake could have a little snack. Oats in smoothies are the best.
How cute is this? One of our neighbors started a Giving Plate. It’s usually full of baked goods, but our neighbors thought we would enjoy beer a little more…are we that obvious? Best delivery ever!
We worked until Jake got home. Lu is terrified of thunder and it stormed like crazy here last night. I loved the cuddles.
Jake got home and we shared one of the beers from our neighbors while we watched an episode of Gilmore Girls. More scared Lu cuddles, too.
Then it was up early to run this morning! We both needed 5 easy miles, so we got started about 5AM. Lu needed some cuddles from her Daddy before we ran.
I have had a few people ask me about my headlamp. I use this any time it’s dark outside. I LOVE it. Unfortunately, this one is no longer available. It’s the Tikka RXP. THIS one seems pretty similar!
We got our 5 easy miles in and then chowed down on some smoothies!
I have lots of computer work to knock out today. I’m teaching 4 online classes now this fall instead of 3, so I need to make sure they’re all ready to go – I think they are! I have a meeting later today that I really need to go well. Fingers crossed! Jake and I are both getting in some trail time this weekend. We have my sister’s birthday dinner Saturday, so we are looking forward to that. Jake has already promised me a home cooked breakfast (by him!) Sunday morning, so I can’t wait for that! Our next few weekends are kind of crazy, so I’m looking forward to a semi low-key one!
Happy Friday, friends!
