My longest run + lots of work + too much food…

Lu sure was a sleepy girl yesterday. She’s either going a hundred miles a minute or she’s passed out.

I think she was trying to hide her bone from me in Jake’s pillows and got distracted. She didn’t do the best job…

I sat ALL day yesterday, so I sipped on some Nuun goodness while I was working to gear up for my long run today. My Mom got me these sweats from Lululemon a few years ago and they are my FAVORITE. They don’t make them anymore and it makes me so sad. I literally wear them ALL winter. They’re such a soft material and they fit perfectly.

Nuun is pretty.

So, I’ve been having a weird pain in my knee whenever I’m sitting and it’s at a 90 degree angle. It never hurts any other time! But, that makes it hard to work at a computer. I have to get creative with how I sit when it’s for long periods of time. The “two-chair” sit, as I’m calling it, works really well!

Marry someone who supports you. ; )

Lunch was random leftovers – an egg, tofu, shrimp, and black beans.

When you wish your BCAAs were tequila instead of BCAAs…you wear this shirt.

I was just about finished working for the day, so I celebrated with a snack.

Exciting news for my Dad and his business partner – they bought another dental practice! My Dad started Ascend Dental (formerly Dorman Family Dental), a LONG time ago – 30 some years, I think. He and his partner found a practice that was closing and they bought it. They’re about to start a remodel, so I’ll share pictures when they do! I’m so proud of my Dad. He’s amazing.

Rocking my braids while I can! I’m getting my hair cut off next week! GULP.

Anyone else have those comfy jeans that you’ve had FOREVER but don’t get rid of because they’re that comfortable? That’s these. I bet I’ve had them for 12-15 years….

I told my Dad to give me his best pose. He’s cute. I know parents are the ones who are proud of their kids, but man, I just can’t get over how proud of my Dad I am. He’s one of the hardest working people I know. The other one is Jake. No wonder I love and respect Jake so much! So proud to be your daughter, Dad! <3

These are my Dad’s parents – they live in Florida and we love having them in town. They’re amazing and there’s never a dull moment with them. They were trying to take a picture of my Dad’s new office…it wasn’t going well.

My guilty pleasure…I am a sucker for sweet salsa.

Jake and I shared a tamale and shrimp fajitas. We had no idea how MASSIVE the fajitas were – they could’ve fed FOUR people. No joke. We have SO many leftovers.

I wanted to get my blog posted before my run since it was going to be a long one and I wouldn’t get it posted until 10-ish, but then I decided to wait so I could share all about my longest run EVER with you guys. So, here we go! I had 17 miles to do today. The furthest I’ve ever gone is 15.5, so I was excited for this milestone. I ran two miles to Jyssica’s house, and then she ran 8.5 miles with me. She’s the best. She had a yoga class to teach afterwards, too. Super woman, am I right? She made the first 10.5 miles of my run FLY by. I had a mini pace workout in the middle of my run and she even did that with me – thank you, thank you! I haven’t been running with people because I hate making others do my workouts if they don’t need to, but she was totally on board and said she’d do more with me, so I’m pumped. We rocked our matching vests, too. She split off from me after this picture and I went on to finish up my 17.

YASSSSS. I felt really good the entire run until about mile 13/14. My left Achilles and my right knee were both throbbing. Not an injury pain, just a flare up from a long run. Other than that, I felt super good! I had to take a bathroom break about mile 15.5, but I was already getting excited about finishing so I didn’t care.

The second you hit stop on your watch after a long run. There’s no better feeling. I think I smiled the whole last mile of this run – Jake texted me and told me to smile (I checked my phone during my cool-down), and I laughed because I was already smiling. The last half mile was hard, but it always is. I had to run past our house to get my whole mileage, so that was a mental struggle, too.
Picture

I am proud of this run. My heart rate monitor kept messing up, so I’m not entirely sure how accurate my Relative Effort is, but I never felt like I was really pushing it, so that’s a positive.

I have to brag on Jake a little. Sometimes I feel silly talking about my own runs because they’re nothing compared to his. This is an insecurity that I have totally created on my own because he’s the biggest cheerleader out there. I think he was even more excited about this long run than I was – that means a lot to me. He has a 30 mile run tomorrow, which I can’t even imagine, but my shorter runs are still a big deal to him. So thank you, Jake, for always supporting me! Any distance makes you a runner, friends. Just get out and move. <3

My workout looked like this:
3 mile warm-up
3x (2 miles at 8:45ish, 2 miles at 9ish) = 12 total
2 mile cool-down

I finished with 17 at 8:53.

Now to soak, nap, and get some work finished. This is my kind of Friday.

This stuff saves us. And it’s SO delicious.

I have a meeting today at 1, so I’m going to try and get a nap in before then, then I’ll work after. We were going to go camping tonight, but we decided to stay in town so I could work and Jake could do his 30 miler with some friends. We are headed to the lake Saturday, so I can’t wait for that!
Happy Friday, friends!
