The importance of rest + I cut off my hair!

I woke up yesterday at 4AM to meet Jyssica to run. Once I got up, I realized I still didn’t feel all that great. I’m not sick (yet), but I want to do everything I can to try and keep from getting sick. I texted her and bailed on our run. It was going to be rainy and I just didn’t think that would be good for me right now. I couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I got started on my dissertation.

I was STARVING, so I ended up eating breakfast about 5:30.

I needed all the coffee in the world. Sometimes I go to bed at night excited about having coffee in the AM. Is that weird?

This cereal is delicious.

I drank Emergen-C and Nuun immunity tablets. Lu and I stayed in bed ALL day. For real. I got a TON of work finished, though, so I’m calling it a win.

Lunch was more leftovers – Mahi-mahi, butternut squash noodles, and edamame.

Jake picked up some Cold and Flu shots for us from Mama Jean’s. I took one after I ate lunch. These have a ton of cayenne pepper in them. I think my throat is still burning.

More cuddles with my best girl. We were seriously in bed all day.

I had an orange for a snack when I finished my work for the day. As of now, I am a tiny bit AHEAD of schedule. We will see…things change very quickly.

Then it was off to get my hair cut! This is the second time I’ve chopped my hair short after having it this long.

Before and after! I didn’t color my hair or anything, but it looks much darker with the lighter ends cut off. I LOVE it. It looks and feels so much healthier. Plus, I was getting bruises on my shoulder blades from my braid during my runs, so this will be incredible.

I have about 10 to 12 inches to donate, which makes me super happy. If anyone knows anything about donating hair, please let me know!

I feel like a new woman! My head feels a million times lighter and I cannot wait for my first run with short hair. It’ll be a little bit shorter when it’s curly, too.

I came home after my appointment, changed into jammies, and made a smoothie for dinner. I’m so used to making enough for two people – I always have extra. Jake was out at Two Rivers marking race courses, so he didn’t see my hair until late last night. He loves it, which surprised me. He isn’t always a fan of short hair. I kept catching him staring at me. He said I looked different, haha!

Bedtime cuddles with my guy are my favorite.

I have a lash appointment today then I’m off to run! I’m pumped for my run. If you ever skip a run, does it make you that much more excited for your next one? I have some speed work today, which I always love, so I think that’s adding to the excitement. Plus, I bet I’m SO fast now that I have short hair. ; ) HAHAHA, kidding.

Then it’s ALL the dissertation work. I’d like to have this draft of my FINAL chapter finished by Friday. I THINK I can pull it off. I have to have everything submitted by September 14th – it’s going to be close, but it’ll happen. Then I have two weeks from then before I defend. Want to hear something silly? I was really debating about telling people my defense date. I didn’t want to have to tell them I failed. That kind of thinking isn’t helpful. Plus, if I fail, I make some changes, resubmit, and defend again. It’s not the end of the world. Will I be bummed? Of course, but it’ll be okay. That being said, I am NOT planning on failing. I want to defend successfully. So, I’m sorry I felt silly about talking about my defense – and to be completely honest, I still get nervous – soooo, can I apologize in advance? Okay, done rambling. I really do love you guys. <3 Thank you for always being so kind.

Happy Friday Eve, friends!
