Change of plans/major struggle bus + a weird feeling + homemade BBQ sauce that is AMAZING.

After I got up yesterday, I was sitting in bed, drinking coffee, answering emails, when I realized Lu was staring at me. This is what she does when she wants to be fed. Every. Single. Time. She gets very much in your bubble and just stares. Sometimes she will head butt you. I don’t know where she got this from, but it cracks me up.
As soon as I fed her, she passed out. What a demanding little angel.
I had an upset stomach all morning, but decided to suck it up and see if running would help. About a mile in, I didn’t feel any better and I just didn’t feel like pushing through it. So, I walked home. I have no clue what was going on, but my stomach was upset for the rest of the day. I was a little mad at myself for not getting my run in, but then I decided to just let it go and knock out some stuff around the house. I cleaned our whole house: bathrooms, dusted, vacuumed, and did all the laundry. It sure felt good to get all of that done! Then, since I was on a productive streak, I took the recycling and packed all my stuff for the weekend. All before lunch!

Here’s lunch – same thing again!

After lunch, I tackled my final dissertation things. I had some optional edits to make, so I did those, then I started on all of the paperwork and surveys that go along with submitting my work. There’s a TON of paperwork to fill out. Copyright forms, forms for the university, all kinds of stuff. I got everything finished, so once I get the go ahead on my revisions, I submit! Then I just wait for graduation in December…EEK! I have had a couple people ask me if I am walking at graduation. Um, hell yeah! Also, the best part? My Dad gets to hood me at the ceremony! My Dad is a dentist, so he has his own cap and gown from his ceremony and gets to be part of mine. I am so excited. That makes it even more special. <3

I took a break from filling out forms to make some homemade ginger BBQ sauce from The Feed Zone, a cookbook from Skratch. Skratch is the hydration/nutrition company we rep for that I am always talking about. Guys, this BBQ sauce was AMAZING. It has molasses, brown sugar, tomatoes, and other goodies in it. So. Delicious.

Not a very pretty picture, but dinner was delicious. Salmon with the ginger BBQ sauce and parmesan cheese, my favorite brussels, and garlic bread.
Sriracha.<3
Then a little dessert!
Jake had a massage after dinner last night, so Lu and I (and her toy) got lots of cuddles while we waited for him to get home.
I have changed around my training this week since we leave Friday for Jake’s hundred. I didn’t want to mess with trying to get a long run in while crewing for him, so I did my long run today. Thank goodness this is a down week for me! I have been on the struggle bus ALL week long. All of my runs have felt hard and I didn’t run yesterday. I was hoping today’s run would feel good. Nope. I ran 3 with Jake, then headed out to get anywhere from 7-10 more. I got 7 and called it quits. Every mile of my 10 miles was hard. I know we all have runs like that, but man, they suck. I am proud that I didn’t quit, so I’m going to focus on that. Tomorrow will be better.
In other, more positive news – Lu is cute. She loves to sleep on the rug in our bathroom. It’s super cushioned, so she’s always in here snoozing.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I’m about to chow down on some breakfast and not think about my run. : )
Happy Wednesday, friends!
