Weekend Wrap-up!

This weekend was a busy one, but I also got to relax quite a bit, which was nice. Jake was gone all weekend at a mountain biking event, so I survived my first weekend alone in our new house!

Friday morning started with a breakfast burrito.

I had to run a few errands in the morning and I sent this picture to Jake. He had this same hat with him for the weekend. Twinning from afar. I’m sure he was thrilled. He LOVES to match. (Not. He hates it.)
I was co-hosting a baby shower for one of my girlfriends on Saturday, so I picked up some greenery for that and bought myself a bouquet. All of these beautiful flowers came from my friend, Cassie’s, flower truck -the Ozark Mtn Flower Truck. It’s adorable and she always has the best flowers. Check it out!
I love this bouquet! I got a white sunflower, which I had never seen before. It’s so pretty.
I did a little TRX Tabata workout Friday afternoon. It felt SO good to use my TRX bands again. I have THESE. Jake is going to suspend mine from the ceiling in our workout room, but for now, using the door attachment works great. The girls wanted to play…
I knew I was going to be sore after that workout. And I was. TRX works every muscle in your body, which is why I love it so much. It’s such a good workout, with really simple moves.
I had a smoothie after my workout and then I worked on submitting final grades for the semester.
Friday evening, I went to my brother-in-law’s graduation. He graduated with his master’s in cyber security (I’m sure there’s a more technical term, but I can’t remember it.) I got to love on my sweet niece, so I was pretty happy. Look at those precious baby feet.
The graduation was massive. A big group of graduates had to sit in the bleachers because there wasn’t any room for more chairs.
Eleanor was very proud.
Jake was sad to miss the graduation, but he’s proud of Tyler, too!
Not proud of this picture…HA! I can’t remember why we took it. My sister said she’s going to save it and show boys who try to date Eleanor. Over my dead body, fellas! ; )
We grabbed dinner at Civil Kitchen. I had their beet salad with chicken. It’s delicious.
When Dad is gone, we have girl cuddles on the bed. I let Rhea sleep in our room, but she preferred the floor. She gets so hot, so I think our comforter was too warm for her.
This picture was taken before my brain fart. Ugh. I was SO excited to meet the girls for a trail run. I hadn’t been on trail in over 5 weeks. I got everything ready, hopped in the car, and headed to Two Rivers, which is one of the trails we run on together. I was literally pulling in when I realized I was at the wrong trail. I was supposed to meet everyone at Sac River. I was so mad. It would take me 45 minutes to get to t
he right trail and I had to get ready for a baby shower when I finished running, so I just didn’t have time to go meet them and still get a run in. I texted one of the girls that I knew would be there and told her what had happened. I felt so awful! I was so excited about running with my girls.
I got about 5 miles in on my own. My ankle definitely isn’t totally healed, but it’s getting there! I was cautious and walked any really rocky areas. Those areas seem to be where I am tweaking my ankle right now. I’m hoping once I strengthen it a little more, I’ll be good to go.
So happy to be on trail.
My hair has grown out, but it still has a ways to go before it’ll hold a braid properly.
Egg scramble when I got home, then I got ready for the baby shower.
This romper has pockets. It’s super comfy, too. I have no clue where I got it, but I am a big fan of rompers.
My friend, Sam, wanted to have her shower at her house, which was so fun. We kicked her out so we could decorate. Everything turned out super cute!
I made that little diaper cake at the end. It was so fun to make!
The food was incredible. Sam’s sister got the desserts from a friend and those little pies in the back are from Prairie Pie. Everything was SO delicious.
Here’s the semi-finished version of the diaper cake. This is the second one I have made. They’re so fun!
I made a boozey punch that turned out pretty yummy and some strawberry lemonade as a non-boozey option.
Here is Sam seeing everything for the first time.
The food was SO good.
I cannot wait to meet this little girl!! Sam is going to be the best Momma. Love you, friend!
It started storming like crazy right as the shower was ending. We got everything cleaned up, then I picked up my groceries. I had scheduled the pick-up for when the shower would be over, then I headed home, put on some warm sweats, and relaxed with my girls for the rest of the evening.
I slept almost 12 hours Saturday night…I couldn’t believe it. I must’ve been tired. I made breakfast and kind of lounged around Sunday morning. It was nice to move a little slow. TMI- I had the WORST cramps ever, so I didn’t feel like doing much.
I eventually did some laundry and vacuumed, then took a break for lunch. I made a smoothie and sat on the couch while watching TV. Here’s something funny – we have cable and all kinds of TV channels right now. We never had that before because we just watched Netflix. My go-to shows on Netflix are The Office, Parks and Rec, New Girl, and Friends. Please take a wild guess at what shows are on repeat on the two channels I watch if I’m watching TV…yepppp, The Office, Parks and Rec, New Girl, and Friends. HA! I can’t help it.
Snack time.
Sleepy girl.
I also meal prepped on Sunday. I made chicken burrito bowls for lunches. Here are Jake’s.
I also made blueberry protein oatmeal muffins for breakfast. Mmmm. That’s honey drizzled over the top of the batter.
They turned out really good! I kind of followed THIS recipe.
Here are the ingredients I used. I omitted the eggs and just added more applesauce, and I used flax seeds instead of flax meal, and I added in chia seeds.
Here’s the nutrition information. I double the recipe and we will have two muffins for breakfast.
I wanted to eat up some leftovers last night, so I made BBQ chicken nachos for dinner. They were delicious.
I also decided I needed a margarita. It was tasty.
Happy Monday, friends!
