Wow, it was hard to get up this morning to run. Jake and I (and his family) got home from Vegas about 1:30 on Monday. I slept the entire flight home, we picked up our girls from my parents (thanks, Mom and Dad!), grabbed a snack, and slept some more. It felt so good to be in our own bed again. Vegas was amazing, but now it’s back to the real world.
I love sharing meal ideas for a lot of reasons, but one of them is totally selfish – I forget about old meals that I used to love, so I get so happy about these reminders!! I am definitely going to have this again. Cottage cheese topped with sweet and spicy tuna, avocado, and hot sauce, with crackers on the side. Mmm. Don’t knock it till you try it.
After our nap at home yesterday, we hopped on our bikes and rode to The Pitch. We were (still are) feeling a little rough from Vegas, so we had a beer. It helped! My body is ready for me to get back on my routine. It was fun to splurge, though!
We shared the new Just Peachy pizza. It was amazing! We love The Pitch so much. And now that we love super close to it, we are there a lot!
Bryan, the owner, made a vodka drink using this as a mixer. He let us try it. Holy cow. It’s amazing!
It’s time for new trail shoes! I blew out my last pair of Timps (which these are, they’re just a newer version) during a trail race last December. I’ve been running in my Olympus, which I love, but I think the Timps are my favorite. I love this color combo, so I’m going to order them today! Altra is coming out with all kinds of new amazing things. We are stoked.
When my alarm went off at 4AM this morning, I could not imagine why I told Alex I would run…I was SO tired. I hit snooze and slept another 20 minutes. I finally got out of bed and got ready to run. I am so glad I did! The weather was perfect and we got a nice 40 minutes of running in. This sunrise was gorgeous, too!
I have never regretted knocking out a run. Even with my post-Vegas body. I’m crazy bloated and sleepy, but running always makes me feel better. I know I feel better post-run than I would have if I had skipped the run. If you’re struggling with finding motivation to do something, think about how you will feel after if you do the thing you don’t want to do. How will you feel if you skip out? Thinking about that helps me get out the door. And some days, that’s the hardest part.
I’m off to knock out my mile-long to-do list and meet with one of the kiddos I’m tutoring this summer!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
