Mmmm food + Grandma time + much needed!

I was telling Jake the other day that I love having smoothies for breakfast, but it’s so much easier to have something that I don’t have to make in the mornings. Having these muffins and a protein shake has been so nice since I can just grab them and go! I do miss our smoothies, though…
My Grandma had a rough night Tuesday night, so we were all pretty sad. I was thankful we had hat day at school on Wednesday because I had pretty puffy eyes. I saw my Grandma yesterday, and she was doing SO much better! She wasn’t having any pain, which made my heart so happy.
Lunch yesterday – yum. I was kind of cold all day, so I heated up the taco bowl for the first time. That was such a great decision.
After school, I went over to my Grandma’s house until about 7:30 PM. Hospice brought her a hospital bed, which she was so excited about. She was sleeping when I got to her house, but once she woke up, we moved her out into her living room. As she was walking out of her bedroom, she got excited about the hospital bed and said it was “absolute perfection”. For all the crap she is going through right now, she is still the most positive and loving person. I don’t know many people who would call sleeping in a hospital bed while on hospice perfection. She’s something special! We had a lot of laughs and storytelling yesterday.
My sister, niece, and brother-in-law, were all there yesterday, too. I have loved getting to spend so much time with my family. Here is my brother-in-law with my Grandma.
My Mom has been staying at my Grandma’s house, so once Piper and everyone left, I told my Mom to go take a shower. I told her it’s important to still take care of her self while she’s taking care of my Grandma. While she was showering, I poured myself a glass of wine, fed my Grandma some tapioca (which is her favorite), and just enjoyed watching the news with her.
My Mom said the shower helped her feel so refreshed. I love these two women so much.
I left my Grandma’s about 7:30, and came home to have dinner and do some laundry. I didn’t get my workout in yesterday, but there are more important things going on right now. I am soaking up my time with my Grandma. I know I will not regret that. Dinner was a bison burger and beets.
It was 21° when we both started our runs this morning. Hello, winter running!
Much needed friend time this morning! I know I say I’m thankful for these girls all the time, but I truly am. Alex, the one in the blue beanie, just lost her sweet Grandmother a few weeks ago. We got to share some fun stories about our Grandmas this morning, which was so nice.
Just a friendly reminder – come to our bake sale on Saturday! We will have all kinds of goodies for sale. Every last cent of the proceeds will go to purchasing feminine hygiene products so that we can stock the bathrooms at our local trails. If you can’t make the sale and would like to donate a baked good, contact me and I will set up a time to get it from you. : ) Anything helps! Trail Sisters Springfield thanks you for your support! We will be at Great Escape Beer Works on Saturday from 12 PM to 4 PM.
I am excited about the new neighborhood that we live in because it is pretty family-oriented and I hope we will have a lot of kiddos trick-or-treating tonight. I know the weather is super lame, but I love getting to see all the costumes. I will go by and see my Grandma before we pass out candy.
Happy Halloween, friends!
