Weekend Wrap-up

Do you ever feel like your days are all mixed up when you’re on break for a holiday? I have such a hard time keeping track of the days! It’s even harder when I’m out of town. I could never remember what day it was while we were in Florida! On Friday (I think…), Jake and I went for a run, then he went with my Dad, Grandpa, and brother-in-law to golf and I went to the pool with my Mom, Grandma, sister, and niece. It was wonderful. I read my book, took a nap, and sipped on a mimosa.

I got a little bit of a sun burn…

After our pool time and the guys golfed, we got cleaned up and headed to dinner. We went to one of my favorite places, Zen Garden. They have the most delicious tofu steak. I love it.

I had a wine flight, which was awesome. Flights are my favorite way to try a little bit of different drinks.

Jake and I shared some escargot, too. It was incredible.

Here’s the tofu steak. I had it about 5/6 years ago and have thought about it a lot…have I mentioned that I love food? Because I do…

We had an early flight Saturday morning to go home. I slept the entire first flight, then relaxed in the Admiral’s Club before our second flight. My Dad used to fly a ton for work, so he has all kinds of crazy points. It’s nice traveling with him and my Mom because they get lots of perks. The Admiral’s Club was so nice and they had a bunch of different delicious foods. I had some soup for lunch.

We got home about 2:30PM Saturday afternoon. We went home, unpacked, and met Jake’s parents for dinner at Pappo’s. We were both so worn out, but hadn’t gotten to see them on Thanksgiving, so it was nice to get together.

After dinner, we all headed to Vantage for a drink. How incredible is this view??

It was so wonderful to be back in our own bed! I had missed our girls SO much. I think they missed us, too. They were stuck to our sides all night.

When I woke up Sunday, I made some oatmeal. It exploded in the microwave…such a bummer.

I meal prepped, cleaned the house, did laundry, ran, lifted, and decorated for Christmas. It was a busy Sunday! I took a break somewhere in there for lunch – a wrap.

The craziness that is meal prep Sunday…I was prepping and doing laundry simultaneously.

Breakfasts this week are overnight oats. The recipe I kind of followed is HERE.  I used a vanilla cake protein powder and didn’t add almond extract or vanilla extract.

Lunches for me are tilapia with beets and brussels. Jake is having chicken salad sandwiches with the same sides.

I started and finished this book while in Florida. Holy cow – it’s SO good! I loved it. A girlfriend texted me and said she was starting it – if you’re looking for a good book, check this one out.

I love this song right now. His voice is incredible.

Dinner last night was Parmesan crusted tilapia and a spinach salad. So delicious.

Sometimes you just need to wear cheetah running pants. These are Senita – I got them HERE. They’re SO comfortable and I love the huge pocket on the side. They’re on sale, too!

I did NOT want to run this morning. It took me forever to fall asleep last night and I was just worn out when I did finally wake up. I knew I would feel better if I got up and did something, so I went to the Y and ran two miles then did a little arm workout. I made a goal to be more consistent with lifting and stretching, and after looking at this picture, I realized how tight my hips are. HA! Looks like I have some work to do.

My Grandma’s funeral is this Saturday and her burial is next Saturday. I was supposed to do a race next Saturday, but I decided to skip it. I was excited about the race, but it will always be there – my Grandma’s burial is a one-time thing. It’s important to me to be there and to be with my family.

Happy Monday, friends!

Girl, grab the Rapid oatmeal cooker (bowl) from
Amazon for 6 bucks. Life changing. That is all. 🙂
