I will never stop being excited about new office supplies. I got this package of pens this week and I am so happy. I love how they write.
This popped up on my memories and I couldn’t believe it. Six years ago yesterday I received news that I had been accepted into my doctoral program at Mizzou. Now, I am a few days away from being one year graduated with a degree. Time sure does fly! I remember having no clue what I was getting myself into, and being super overwhelmed after my first class on campus. I had driven to Columbia for my first class and felt so out of place. I called my mom on my drive home and just cried to her about how I felt like I didn’t belong in the program. I’m so glad I didn’t give up.

My school is doing the 12 Days of Christmas, so they are spoiling all of us until we break for Christmas. Yesterday they provided us with Sonic drinks. I could not tell you the last time I had sonic, so this was a fun surprise. I also found this sweet note and a Starbucks gift card from one of my teachers. I work with some amazing people!
While I have loved this lunch all week, I am ready for something else. Tilapia, brussels, and beets. Oh, and all the Cholula hot sauce.
I got my hair trimmed after school yesterday, then came home and had dinner with Jake. We had leftovers, which consisted of sweet potatoes, chicken, spinach, barbecue sauce, and goat cheese. One of our favorite meals.
After dinner, we watched an episode of New Girl, then headed out to pick out our Christmas tree!
We found one that we loved! This will be our fourth Christmas getting a real tree together. I love this tradition of ours. Now to let it settle and then decorate.
My family starts arriving today for my Grandma’s visitation and funeral tomorrow. I know it will be a hard weekend, but I am thankful that we have each other. The visitation starts at 9AM at Trinity Lutheran Church here in town and the funeral will begin at 11AM at the same place.
Happy Friday, friends!
