We spent most of our weekend in Iowa celebrating my cousin’s wedding. It was a wonderful way to spend our last weekend of 2019. The last few months have been so crazy, so I am definitely ready for some downtime. We hit the road when Jake got off work on Friday. We stopped in Clinton for dinner at a restaurant called Pizza Glen. It was super delicious, and I highly recommend it to anyone if they ever stop in Clinton to eat. Their salads were wonderful and the pizza was amazing.
I shared this mascara on Facebook and Instagram, but I also wanted to share it here. Ever since I stopped getting eyelash extensions, I have been searching for a good mascara. I don’t use a ton of make-up, so I don’t understand a lot of the items out there – contouring? Why? BUT when I find something good, I want to share it with you. This mascara is amazing. It legitimately makes your lashes longer! It’s not one of those fiber mascaras, so it doesn’t flake all over your cheeks. This mascara makes your lashes look so good and it stays put. I have used it for about a week now and I am sold. It is Damn Girl! by Too faced. You can click the picture of the mascara and it will take you to a link!
Back to our weekend stuff: Jake and I got to Iowa around midnight, so we were pretty wiped out. We slept in until about eight, then met the rest of my family for breakfast at our hotel. After breakfast and getting caught up with everyone, we headed back to our room to get ready. Jake’s parents had given us these new tumblers for Christmas, so we sent them this picture of us using them. The bottom is smaller than our other ones, so they fit into our cupholders.
My cousin’s wedding was so beautiful. She was a stunning bride!
The venue for their reception and all of the incredible decorations made everything seem magical. My cousin and her husband are huge Disney fans, so their theme was a Tale as Old as Time. Everything they picked was so perfect for them.
We got to love on this little cutie all weekend. They were both too busy hydrating to pay attention to me.
We had good food, family time, and lots of dancing.
Chelsea, Jake’s sister, always watches our girls for us. They love having her stay the night with them. When we get home, they don’t want to leave our side. I missed them as much as they missed us.
We got home about 4 PM yesterday, unpacked, showered, and met Dawn (my birth mom) and Mitch (her man) for dinner. We went to The Rock and I had the Ahi Tuna Tacos. They come with a spicy Boom Boom sauce that is delicious. I don’t know if I would order them again, but I did really love the zucchini that came with them and the sauce.
After dinner, we went back to our house to exchange Christmas gifts. I got Jake and myself personalized Yeti tumblers two years ago for Christmas. Awhile ago, Dawn told us how much she loved them, so I got her and Mitch some of their own. We had to break them in with a little drink and a selfie.
Guys, I didn’t run for 8 days. EIGHT. I don’t really have a reason why, other than I just didn’t feel like running. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE running and it’s a huge part of my life, but I just needed some time off. It’s been strange not starting every day with a run, but I’ve been sleeping in, lounging around and drinking coffee, and just enjoying being lazy. I am definitely ready to get back into my normal routine, but I think I needed the break – both physically and mentally. It felt strange to set my alarm for 4AM after not setting one for most of my Christmas break, but it sure was nice meeting these two for some miles! We started our run in 19 MPH winds…it was crazy. Rhea was with us and she didn’t love the wind either. We ran straight into the wind for about a mile, then changed directions, which made all the difference. It was miserable running directly into it. We knocked out 5 miles to start our Mondays. I can tell my body is worn out from that run…I feel a nap coming on. Ha!
I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day in 2019!
Happy Monday, friends!
