My weekend was full of house projects, trail running, and a little meal prep. I am thankful we don’t have to live in the house through ALL of our projects, but I am definitely ready to only be responsible for one ‘home’. Soon!
Friday morning started with breakfast and the gym.
After the gym, I had a quick lunch, then headed over to the house to finish prepping the kitchen so I could start priming on Saturday.
My helpers and I loaded up and headed over.
I finished scrubbing the floor – how gross is that? The line I am pointing to is where I stopped scrubbing the day before.
Then I taped everything off and was ready for priming on Saturday!
Saturday morning started with 10 rainy trail miles. You can’t beat fall/winter trail runs. They’re my favorite.
I matched these leaves.
We talked the entire time we ran, which was so nice. My legs needed some slow, easy miles. Plus, these girls make the best company.
All the Trail Sisters shirts. Oh! We saw an otter on our run! It was the coolest thing ever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in the wild before. It definitely made my day.
Post long run breakfast = the best breakfast. This hit the spot! Two eggs, sautéed spinach and mushrooms, a meatless sausage patty, and an English muffin.
After breakfast, it was time to prime!! I was so excited to start priming. One step closer to painting! I got the entire kitchen and the woodwork in the kitchen primed on Saturday.
My braid (yes, still from my rainy run) got dipped into the paint a few times…whoops.
I finished priming the kitchen and went back to the apartment to do laundry, clean, and start on dinner. Jake worked on sanding another ceiling when he got off work, so he did that while I worked at the apartment. Things feel a little bonkers right now! And probably will until we move, but that’s okay.
This is one of my favorite frozen things – it’s a root vegetable hash and they’re delicious. It’s potatoes, carrots, and something else… I can’t remember. I like to either cook them on the stove or my favorite – the AirFryer. I just put some olive oil and Slap Ya Mama cajun seasoning on them. So easy and SO good.
We also had salmon and salad.
Sunday morning started with errands, so I grabbed Panera for breakfast before getting the paint for our kitchen.
Jake asked me to choose between white and gray cabinets. Since we are doing white walls for now, I told him I wanted gray cabinets. He said he found the perfect color – it’s called Chelsea Gray. HA! I didn’t believe him at first. Here it is! It’s the one in the middle. It’s going to look SO good.
Getting our paint mixed. I failed to take pictures, but after I got the paint, I went to the house to buff everything I had primed on Saturday. I had a few more spots to prime, so while that dried, I started sanding the cabinet doors. I got everything in the kitchen sanded and wiped down, so it’s ready for me to start painting today!! I am so excited. I’ll share pictures of the first coat tomorrow.
When I finished at the house, I went back to the apartment to meal prep. I made our breakfast and lunch for the week. Breakfast will be bowls with purple and jewel sweet potatoes, golden beets, red beets, brussels, and chicken and apple sausage. We will top these with two fried eggs. One of my favorite quick breakfast ideas.
I also prepped a Big Mac casserole for lunch, but forgot to take a picture. When Jake finished at the house, we went on a little date night to Brew Co. We shared their Reuben, fries, and a salad, and made sure to renew our Mug Club membership.
We love being in the Mug Club! This will be year 3 for us.
It has been one year since my Grandma went to Heaven. I can’t believe it. It doesn’t feel that long, but in some ways, it feels longer. I think about her every single day and miss her just as much. I don’t cry every time I think about her now, but there are definitely moments when it hits me and I break down. That’s grief for you. It’s strange. I reread my post from last year (HERE) and am so thankful I have all of those memories in this space. I love you, Grandma! Squeeze Grandpa and our babies. All my love, Chelsea-Girl. <3
Happy Monday, friends!
Hello from Michigan! I really enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for all the meal prep ideas! It’s fun to see what is happening in Missouri. I thought I would mention that Goodr glasses has a PBR beer line, maybe a fun Christmas gift for your husband?
Hi, Becky! Thank you for your kind words. : ) I hope the meal prep ideas give you some fun ideas! I’m all about saving time.
