We had the BEST day yesterday. As soon as my office hours were over, we hit the road and had a little date day. While I was in my office hours, Jake brought me a piece of toast. He winked and told me to look closely at the napkin…he had folded it into a heart. HA! Always making me smile.
We loaded up our furry girl and headed to Busiek for some trail miles. I think she had even more fun than we did. It had been WAY too long since we had all been on trail together. We used to run trail together all the time. We need to do a better job of getting back to that.
The weather was incredible. I think all three of us smiled the entire time.
The water crossings were FREEZING. Jake is way tougher than me, but we already knew that. He crossed in one spot and it was up to his waist. I took the long way around and the water still hit mid-calf. Brrrr!
The perfect morning.
After our run, we shared a beer, then headed to Galloway for a late lunch. It was a blast to pretend Wednesday was also my weekend. A huge perk of working from home and making my own schedule – (thank you, Jesus!) I think we are both ready for Jake to get his regular schedule back, but for now, we are making it work just fine.
We sat at Galloway and chatted for a long time, then came back home and took a short nap. Literally the best date day ever – trail miles, Galloway, and a nap. Yes, please. Our day got even better because we went to dinner with Jake’s Mom and sister. I had the most delicious shrimp quesadilla.
I repped one of my favorite local bike shops. This is one of the comfiest shirts. My pants may or may not be unbuttoned in this picture…I was so full after dinner.
I did not want to get up when my alarm went off at 4AM, but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t, so I got up and made coffee. Pre-run coffee is the best coffee.
7 miles to start my Thursday! These girls make morning runs even better.
I ate breakfast the second I got home from running – the last of our egg casserole, avocado toast with greens, and a handful of strawberries. Mmmm.
I am going to knock out a little work then head to the gym!
Happy Friday Eve, friends!
