This weekend was one that I will always, always remember. Rewinding to Friday, my day started with a 3am wake-up to get to the airport in New Orleans for my 6am flight back home. I was gone for a work conference from Tuesday to Friday last week. The conference was great, but I was beyond ready to be home. Starbucks opened about 4am, so I grabbed breakfast and a massive coffee while I waited on my first flight. I connected to my second flight in Dallas and was back home by 10am. My Mom and grandparents picked me up from the airport, then I ran around like a crazy person trying to get caught up on a week’s worth of things in a day before crashing in a two hour nap.
After my nap, which was SO amazing, I wrapped some little thank you gifts for the hostesses of my first baby shower, which happened on Saturday. Can you tell I am channeling Christmas?? Christmas tea towels, Christmas candles, and lotion. I. Love. The. Holidays.
We spent as much time as possible with my family this weekend since my grandparents were visiting from Florida. We grabbed dinner with everyone at Maso, where I had the BEST chicken pot pie that I have ever had. In my whole life. I’m not even kidding. If you like chicken pot pie, go get this. It was so creamy, had the most incredible crust, and the flavors were out of this world. I cannot say enough good things about this meal. I ate the whole thing…
After dinner, it was back home for our LAST night in the soon-to-be nursery! If you’ve been here for awhile, you know that we are in the middle of remodeling our house. Jake and I have been sleeping in the bedroom that will be the nursery since we moved in last December. Jake worked SO hard to finish up some projects while I was in New Orleans at my work conference, so when I came home, we were ready to move rooms. Best. Husband. Ever. I think the girls were confused by all the moving of things.
Not only was this our last night not in our master, but it was also the last night in our queen bed. We have a king in our master and have been so excited about it. It’s the first king bed either of us has ever had.
Saturday morning started with knocking out a few last-minute projects before I headed to my baby shower and Jake golfed with my Dad, his Dad, and my Grandpa. Have I mentioned before how blessed we are to not only have the best families, but to also have our parents ALL living 10 minutes from us? Jake worked on getting the blinds put up in our master so we could sleep in there Saturday night.
My Mom, sister, and two super close family friends threw my shower on Saturday and it was so perfect. I am still reliving all of the fun we had.
So excited to shower baby boy will all kinds of love. We have the very best people in our lives.
Everything looked so adorable.
And the food was out of this world. I think I ate four of these sugar cookies that my Godmother, Elaine, made. Thank you, Elaine!!! <3
Every chair was filled and I think we laughed the whole time. It was so amazing to celebrate our miracle boy with women who have been in my life since I was a baby.
The drink station – mulled cider (with booze that could be added), lemonade, and water.
Our friend, Marilyn, made the most incredible pumpkin rolls. Oh my gosh, they were outstanding. I ate at least two big pieces at the shower and my Mom sent two more pieces home with me. Thank you, Marilyn!!! <3
These women are all so special to me. My sister, Elaine, my Mama, and Marilyn. I love each of you so very much! Thank you for such an amazing baby shower.
I don’t really have the words to adequately thank everyone. I tried to thank everyone at the beginning of the shower and just immediately started crying. I think there were tears from everyone at one point. They were happy tears! Everyone knows what we went through to get to this point, and I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to have a baby shower, so I was definitely a little bit emotional.
The best sister-in-law ever helped out so much by playing with Eleanor, cleaning up the mess I made opening presents, and taking lots of pictures. Love you, Chels!
I think I smiled all dang day.
Thank you, everyone, for making us feel so loved and showering baby boy with all kinds of love. We love you all so, so much! <3
Sunday morning, we had breakfast and coffee with my family before my grandparents flew back to Florida, then Jake golfed with his Dad and I started on some meal prep and knocking out some other things around the house. Food still doesn’t sound great, so I’m leaving my options open for lunches this week. I will do salads with chicken or salmon, so I cooked some chicken with Everything but the Bagel seasoning. My favorite!
I also made some sweets and beets to go with lunches.
Breakfast burritos for Jake – these have egg, mushroom, cheese, and sausage.
Jake’s lunches – sandwiches, sweets and beets, and veggie crisps.
Still loving pop tarts…
We were worn out after meal prepping and laundry, so we got in some cuddles while watching New Girl (for the hundredth time…).
Jake grilled steaks for us Sunday night and I made brussels and green beans to go with them. YUM.
Room moving progress – we now have everything moved into our master, so the only thing we need to take apart in this room is our old bed.
We moved the bed over against the wall (we will take it apart later this week), then laid out the rug for the nursery so it could flatten out. We set our baby shower gifts along the edges to help things stay flat. Baby boy was spoiled this weekend. That’s for sure.
How cute is this?? Our good family friend, Wendy, gave this to us. I can’t wait to see baby boy play with all this fun stuff. That baby kettlebell is precious.
We watched Yellowstone with Jake’s family, then came home and crawled into bed. I think the girls love having a bigger bed. Lu still makes her bed on top of all our pillows.
I headed to the gym this morning. It was my first time in almost two weeks, so I know I’m going to be sore later. It is SO nice to be back in my routine.
Happy Monday, friends!
